Motorama – Day 1

Day one recap from Jon…

Day one is now in the books for this years Motorama. Pulling up to the racing complex was a huge shock to me. As we looked for a parking spot, hundreds of racers stood outside waiting to get in the doors to get a pit spot. The weather was amazing with temperatures in the sixties outside. The facility here is so large it’s hard to describe just how big it is.

As practice got underway, it was quickly realized just how fast the track was going to blow out. By the time the Pro buggies hit the track, large holes and ruts had already formed in many turns on the track. This year drivers were going to be seated for qualifying, based on their three fastest consecutive laps from round two or three. For round one most JConcepts team drivers were using the ever popular Subculture on their buggy, and the newly released Subculture truggy tire with the revolutionary Mono Elevated bead wheel. As the sun set everyone could see that the race days here were going to be long. With close to 400 entries, each round of practice was taking over six hours to run.

For the Second round of practice, the JC team made the switch to Green Hybrids on buggy to Get though the rough parts of the track easier.

With practice ending around 12am, the qualifying heats were posted.
