Neo12 – Update From The Track

Day two of qualifying is in the books, but not really. In a twist to gain some excitement over traditional IFMAR qualifying, this race is going with a F1 inspired format. After the semi finals are completed, the cars finishing 8-15 from both the A, and B bracket will be in a last chance final. The winner will be number 15 in the A. Then, starting with number 15, each driver gets their own 1 lap dash to be in the top 10. Cars 11-15 will be numbered with their finishing order, and set for the main. Then, starting with number 10 thru 1, each driver, on his own lap, will try to be in the top 5. Cars 6-10 are numbered in their order. And once again, starting with number 5 from session 2, the fastest single lap will be the TQ of the 2012 Neo Buggy Championship.

Aside from this, during the higher final mains, there is a Dash for Cash race for the drivers qualified in the top 12 as per the 5 rounds of qualifying. Then, the entire field is inverted. With the fast cars in the rear of the field, and Maifield rockin the camera on the side of his car, well, for three laps anyway. Standing room only around the circuit made for an exciting race.the first turn was, um, ugly. But Ryan worked his way from dead last to forth in the 10 minute race, right on the bumper of third, and just missing the podium.

As the normal qualifying rounds come to a close, JConcepts have had a good showing at this years event. Ryan Maifield was consistently at the front of the field battling for TQ, ending up in the 4th position. JR Mitch had good runs to place himself directly into the semi final, as well as Truman.
