Maifield takes Q4 and Buggy TQ

Ryan Maifield put himself top of the pile for the 3rd time in the buggy class here at the ROAR nats, going into the last heat of qualifying, Adam Drake overcame his Q3 buggy DQ (fuel tank too big) to set a great benchmark time, a time which Maifield was able to beat, albeit by a slim 1.5 sec margin. Tessmann would end up 3rd and Lutz 4th, Truhe 5th, Easton 6th, Tebo 7th and Phend 8th. The track has developed into something quite special, super traction online and no-mans-land offline, in the slow section you need gooey soft rubber whilst in the fast section you need compounds that’ll last the distance. Lower mains will get underway tonight with higher mains tomorrow leading up to the two finals (45min truggy, 1hr buggy.)

Qualifying is now over at the 2012 ROAR Nats and it’s two well known names in 1/8 Offroad who top their respective classes – in truggy Tebo nailed Q1 & Q2, his work practially done as did Maifield in buggy. Q3 and Q4 however it was a different story, Maifield initially TQ’d Q3 of truggy but was disqualified due to his car being underweight this handed Q3 to Ryan Lutz. In the buggy class Q3 went to Ryan Cavalieri just in front of Jesse Robbers. As lunchtime passed, Q4 of which Tessmann took top spot in truggy barely a second infront of Maifield, Lutz 3rd and Tebo 4th. In buggy Maifield made it 3 out of 4 TQs and handed Team Associated the enviable prize of complete sweep of buggy qualifying.
