Travel day:

The JConcepts crew is making our way to Chico, CA for the 2013 1/10 Off-road IFMAR World Championships. The World Championships are held every 2 years throughout the world hosted by one of the four blocks (ROAR, EFRA, FAMAR, FEMCA). This year ROAR is hosting their event at A-main Hobbies world class Silver Dollar Raceway.

The World Championships is not just another big race held annually for anyone to just send in their entry with a minimal fee. This is the “worlds” best and you must qualify through various channels. Everything about this race is at the highest level; from race organization, media coverage, car inspection, electronic inspection, spec tires, strict scheduling, race officials, referees, new and unreleased prototype parts, and even unseen entirely new cars. Although this race can be fun for some, it’s all business for the manufactures and top drivers from all over the world. This is the Daytona 500 for the “R/C World” and should be treated and respected as such.

Most manufactures and drivers have been testing/preparing all year for the opportunity to claim they are #1 in the world in their respected classes. Most drivers have spent the last several weeks building, personalizing, and testing their 2wd and 4wd vehicles and should be more prepared for this event than any other they will ever attend. Personally my favorite part about a race of this caliber is seeing the top drivers cars. I truly love and admire the work and personalization that goes into their chassis, electrical layout, painted bodies, specialized decals, handmade prototype parts, etc.

This will be my fourth World Championships; two as a racer (1 A-main finalist) and two as a manufactures representative. This will however be my first worlds while having access to all the social media and I will do my best to post pics/updates throughout the event via Facebook and Instagram.

Stay tuned….Paul Wynn
