IMG_2206

The JConcepts Spring Indoor National Series is underway at the Pacific Northwest’s premier offroad dirt track better known as Tacoma R/C Raceway in Tacoma, Washington. Since the addition of TRCR to the Indoor National Series 2 years ago, the 3rd edition of the Spring INS has definitely grown in popularity and has become the PNW’s biggest race. This year’s event has attracted drivers from all four corners of the United States as well as pulling in a few racers from Canada to make for an ultra talented field of drivers all battling for the Championship title.

With drivers spending all of Friday morning and afternoon setting up their cars and breaking in tires, the seeding round was only a mere glimpse of the exciting, intense race to come. Running on all cylinders and taking a somewhat of a surprise Top Seed honors, it would be local superstar Team Associated/JConcepts’ Harley Yoshii putting in the fastest 3 consecutive laps over an elite field of drivers including reigning World Champion Spencer Rivkin.

Harley would go on to post a 47.38, over .2 seconds clear of 2nd fastest seeder, Kyosho/JConcepts’ Tanner Day. Both drivers elected to use the ‘laydown’ conversion of their cars finding much success early on a track that is only going to get faster through the weekend. Team Associated/JConcepts’ Spencer Rivkin would seed 3rd with a combined time of 47.85 running the brand new B6 with straight arms and front tower.

In modified 4wd buggy, it was all Spencer Rivkin as he was able to set the fastest combined 3 laps to seed 1st with a 46.557 in his Reedy powered B44.3. Happy and a bit surprised with his results, TLR/JConcepts’ Kevin Motter would seed 2nd with a 46.83 running his brand new 22-4 2.0 for the first time this weekend. All the way from North Carolina and also with a brand new TLR 22-4 2.0 and running it for the first time, Max Flurer would seed 3rd demonstrating the speed of TLR’s updated wheeler.

Rising from a field with almost 70 stock buggies, TRCR’s own Jonny Deck seemed to be on another level. As the only driver to get a combined time under 50 seconds, Deck would seed 1st with a 49.42 while Team Associated/JConcepts’ Shane Borden would put in a strong effort to seed 2nd with a 50.01. Team Associated’s Ron Begeot would go on to seed 3rd with a 50.30.
