2016 JConcepts Spring INS – Saturday Quals

Track Layout copy-2

After 3 intense rounds of qualifying, it has been an amazing display of driving from the best of the best. From SC to mod wheeler, there has been an exceptional level of driving and courtesy that the NW should be proud of. Without a doubt, the locals at TRCR have brought their ‘A’ game forcing the visitors to raise their level of driving resulting in some of the best qualifying rounds Tacoma has ever seen.

The 2wd Stock class has been a close battle among the top 5 drivers after 3 rounds of qualifying. Rising to the top and taking 2 rounds of qualifying was AE/JConcepts’ Shane Borden and 1 round going to AE/JConcepts’ Kurt “Coach” Wenger. The final round of qualifying will be a face off between Borden and Wenger as Wenger is the only person that is able to stop Borden from taking the overall TQ! The final round of qualifying on Sunday morning will be nothing short of amazing

Taking the overall TQ in modified truck was non other than local superstar, AE/JConcepts’ Ryan Matesa doing the unthinkable by taking ALL 3 rounds of qualifying. Happy with his T5M, Matesa commented that his truck was “awesome and fun to drive”. Spencer Rivkin is currently qualified 2nd behind Matesa with a 2nd, 3rd, and 3rd place finishes so far. After recovering from a bad round 2, AE/JConcepts Harely Yoshii is sitting 3rd with a 2nd and a 4th.

The stars in 4wd mod were JConcepts’ Spencer Rivkin and Florida native Daimon Borkowicz. Rivkin would TQ rounds 1 and 3 with Daimon taking top honors in round 2. With 1 more round of qualifying, it will be up to Borkowicz to stop Rivkin from taking the overall TQ spot by beating Rivkin by tie-breaker.

Showing the speed of the B6 on high bite clay, JConcepts’ Spencer Rivkin is starting to leave the field with the new laydown car. Early in qualifying, it was pretty even with the stand up mid motor cars, but with the grip going from high to ultra, the B6 is starting to shine. Rivkin has 2 TQ’s with the other round going to young star Harley Yoshii. Again, Harley is the only driver left to have a chance at the overall if he is able to TQ the final round and win by tie-breaker.
