Super Cup Championship Series – Fall 2016 Race 2

The Super Cup makes its way east this month to Beachline Raceway located in Cocoa Florida for race 2 of the Fall session. Beachline is always a great stop for the series, indoor location, great surface and plenty of parking and pitting spaces. With 234 entries, we had another long day of racing but Lance MacDonald kept everything flowing smoothly and we were able to get two qualifiers and the mains done in about 12 hours.

The Novice class always kicks us off, beginners of all ages and vehicle types get to try out a big race feel with a little less stress. In past races we would have two or more heats but this weekend there were only nine drivers competing. Cameron Morales would set the pace in qualifying, taking the overall TQ after two rounds. Bobby Iafrate would keep it interesting by staying within a few seconds of Cameron in the A Main. Final finishing order for the Novice A Main would be Cameron Morales taking the win followed by Bobby Iafrate in second and Dylan Kraatz rounding out the podium in third.

Next up would be the Expert Stock Buggy class. This highly competitive class would see four full heats of racers looking to take the win. In qualifying, Robert Molina set the pace by taking the overall TQ. In the A Main however, Robert had a rough start and couldn’t recover. It would be former National Champion Alan Wight going the distance and taking the overall win. Second place would go to Raymond Darroca and third would be Jader Lopez.

The Intermediate Stock Buggy class would be up next, another very popular class. JConcepts provides a handout tire for all drivers in this class. This helps take the guess work out for new drivers and levels the playing field. With 39 entries this weekend, we went all the way down to an E Main. Kris Manning would be the top qualifier but in the A Main, Kris was out after two laps. With seven drivers on the lead lap it was going to be a great race to the finish. Local driver Aidan Mangus would take the overall win by 5 seconds over second place finisher Danny Mandarino. Jabin Carlton would finish up in the third spot.

The premiere 2wd Buggy class would be up next. Mod buggy would have 30 entries and some very exciting lower mains. Daimon Borkowicz would be the top qualifier and go on to win the A Main event. The battle for 2nd, 3rd and 4th would make the A Main that much more exciting with drivers swapping positions throughout the 5 minute Main. Paul Wynn would finish up in the two spot after an extremely tight battle with Ryan Eckert. Ryan would finish third just 0.546 behind Paul.

On to the more seasoned Mod 2wd drivers, the 40+ Mod Buggy class is still popular with two heats of racers. Local racer, Ruffy Rios would set the pace in qualify and took the TQ honors for the day. A nice clean A Main let Ruffy cruise to victory with an almost 10 second lead over second place. Billy Bruce would take the two spot and Rich Schaeffer would finish in third.

Moving out of the 2wd buggy classes we move into the Racing Truck classes. First up would be Stock Truck, with three full heats, we had some great competition in this still very popular class. Robert Molina would take the TQ honors and take the win in the A Main tone to tone. Jordan Singletary would finish up in second followed closely by Julien Oliveras in third.

The Mod 2wd Truck class would have a low turnout with only five entries this round. Joshua Alfaro would take the TQ in qualifying. Joshua would go on to win the A Main followed by John Prickett in second and Mike Williams in third.

Moving on to the 2wd Stock Short Course class we would see Robert Molina taking the overall TQ in qualifying. Robert would duplicate his Stock Truck run by taking the win again tone to tone. Austin Craig would finish up in second followed by Kevin Abbott in third.

Next up would be the ever entertaining 4wd Mod Short Course class. The larger layout at Beachline gives these trucks a bit more breathing room and are always fun to watch. Mitch Zeck would dominate qualifying and take the TQ spot. Mitch would check out and go on to win the A Main almost lapping the entire field. Joshua Alfaro would take the two spot followed by Ben Pinover in third.

Another growing class is the 13.5 4wd Buggy class. We would see three heats of racing from this class with Tilar Pollack taking the TQ and dominating the A Main. Kenny Morris would finish up in second followed by Lee Setser in third.

Our final class of Race 2 would be 4wd Mod Buggy. Daimon Borkowicz would again take the TQ spot but had some great battles with JR Mitch in the A Main. JR would take his TLR vehicle to the top spot in the Main taking the win followed closely by Daimon in second and Ryan Eckert in third.

Another great turnout for the Super Cup Series, we have to thank Beachline Raceway for a great facility and for all their hard work keeping the track in great shape. Thanks to Lance MacDonald for another smooth running program and to JConcepts for supporting the series. A special thanks to all the drivers who attended from as far as South Carolina and Georgia and all over the state of Florida.
