Inside Look to Ryan Maifield’s Winning Nitro Truggy

Dirt Nitro Challenge… one of the hardest races to win. Yet somehow, Ryan Maifield was able to go back to back in this year’s Pro Nitro Truggy class and did it in spectacular fashion. It was and if not, the best Truggy race in history. There was definitely some fire in Maifield’s eyes as you could tell from the way he drove his truck during the intense 45-minute A-main as he battled back and forth with JConcepts teammate, Dakotah Phend. Check out Ryan’s winning Mugen Seiki MBX8T below.

Not only winning did it win the Pro Nitro Truggy class, but the JConcepts Finnisher Truggy body took 1st, 2nd, and 3rd and used by three different manufacturers (Mugen, TLR, AE). Mean, aggressive and awesome performance, the Finnisher has been chosen by many champions all over the world.

Maifield’s MBX8T that he used to win the DNC is very similar to the truck he used to win the 2019 ROAR Nationals at Thornhill, the MBX8T. Ryan has had a lot of success with his ProTek servos and still chooses to go with the ProTek 170SBL Black Label servos for both throttle and steering. As a Lunsford driver, Ryan uses a lot of the high-quality Lunsford titanium screws to keep weight down.

Ryans power comes from his Maxima B2X engine paired with the Maxima Mx 2147 DIRT exhaust system for great run time and mega power. Also seen in the mid chassis photo is the ProTek electronic switch that has proven to be reliable time and time again.

In this shot, you can see the new prototype JConcepts 1-piece molded rear wing, aka the F2L, that will be publically announced shortly. Ryan’s the type of guy if he doesn’t like it, he’s not going to use it and will use the best option out there. With a win already for the F2L wing, it might be staying on there a while.

For the 45 minute main, Ryan went with the Triple Dee truggy tires although having run the Reflex tires in qualifying. As the sun went down and tire wear was low and the green compound had enough traction and zero issues with tire wear.

The JConcepts Bullet wheels have won countless races since their release and still get it done to this day. Here’s another win for the Bullet wheels as it keeps racking up the wins from race to race.

Here’s a rear look of Ryan’s truggy and a closer look at his tires, shock positions, suspension mounts, and F2L wing. It takes a whole package and not just flawless driving to stand atop the podium at the DNC and congrats to Ryan on his fabulous back to back wins!
