With the evolution of race tracks, complicated circuits combining more aggressive jumps and extremely high-speed corners, JConcepts has incorporated many new features for the Finnisher Tekno EB48, which provide several benefits in the most critical situations. Increased windshield angle provides a steady force upfront during in-flight wind gusts on large jumps. Forward cab placement changes performance / visible bias which helps steering rotation in low traction corners.

JConcepts hit the ground in Vaasa, Finland with an all new body design specifically for the IFMAR World Championships. Cleverly named, Finnisher, the unique design quickly rose to the top of the field during competition and proved effective on the ground and in the air. Designed with aspects learned from the Punisher line of bodies, the Finnisher provides an even more aggressive look with included details which remain crucial to performance. The Finnisher body for the Tekno is a drop fit for the newly released EB48 buggy.

The side-pods have been simplified and JC chamfered to remove unwanted changes in height to neutralize the at-speed handling. Additional clearance has been added for the steering linkage from servo to bell-cranks to give an extra bit of clearance to the body. The chassis to body fit has been tightened up which eliminates empty voids that contribute to mid-flight directional changes. The rear of the cab has a new step feature which places dual louvers toward the rear that can be trimmed to allow air to escape at the top of the body. The rear portion of the side-pod area has been lowered to create another louver which can be trimmed as another avenue to allow heat to escape. The motor-side of the pods have a direct inlet which can be trimmed and used as another air-flow feature of the body.

Features:
· Race proven JConcepts Finnisher design
· Blended wing / body design
· Unique, stepped, forward cab design
· Side-pod louvers for more air-flow potential

JConcepts releases 2 new popular 1/8th truck tires in pre-mounted configuration.

Black Jackets

Success in 1/8th racing rests in having the correct tire at the proper time. The Black Jackets from JConcepts made their debut to success at the Dirt Nitro Challenge and Neobuggy events during the 2012 racing season. The Black Jackets, constructed from very small square pins, provide additional grip on loose conditions with a light amount of dust and debris across the surface. The tread spacing near the outside rows are slightly open allowing maximum flexibility to adhere to smooth and slick surfaces providing a reasonable flex contact patch. The crisp center bar construction provides a wall-like pattern of tread which provides additional forward bite and also resists some high-expansion wear associated with typical small pin tires.

The Black Jackets have a quick and nimble feel on the track which translates into quicker lap-times for the driver in certain conditions. During the 2012 Silver State Nitro Challenge, Ryan Maifield utilized the Black Jackets as his go to tire for the dusty conditions. The small pin construction made them ideal for the bumpy conditions while the center bar support allowed plenty of forward traction to climb up to a top spot on the podium. The Black Jackets inner ribbing features a repeated X-type ribbing which reduces the amount of tire expansion under power while still being soft and cushy for bumps and rutted sections. The new high-performance tire includes JConcepts “Force-1” inserts to finish off a successful package.

Features:

Stackers

Speed, longevity and consistency describe the winning, fundamental elements of any 1/8th race or driver characteristics. The Stackers tire by JConcepts is a culmination of successful DNA from the highly popular Hybrids and Crowbars tire tread patterns. The Stackers reveal a heavy center lug design which are supported at the lower base with extra rib features and tiny fillets which provide a heavy forward gripping force. Directional slashes cut into the tread soften the lugs to absorb bumps and also increase the lug flexibility to accommodate loose conditions.

The outer rows are a medium to hefty size lug with alternating positioning to drive forward and side-bite while the Stacked rows actively react with one another to lower the overall wear of the tire. The side-lugs are finished off with a hard angle to ease the transition from forward to side-bite while maintaining a linear feel without edginess in the turns. The Stacker inner ribbing features a repeated X-type ribbing which reduces the amount of tire expansion under power while still being soft and cushy for bumps and rutted sections. The Stackers include JConcepts “Force-1” inserts to finish off an extraordinary tire.

The Stackers in the hands of JConcepts / Team Associated driver Ryan Maifield have already TQ’ed the buggy class at 2012 ROAR Off-Road Fuel Nationals in Oakland Mills, PA and took a quick 30 minute victory at the 2012 JConcepts Clash in Flowood, Mississippi. The Stackers are the real deal when it comes to extended main events and conditions which require speed and longevity.

JConcepts has studied the evolution of race tracks, complicated circuits combining more aggressive jumps and extremely high-speed corners, and has incorporated many new features in to the Finnisher Agama A8 Evo, which provide several benefits in the most critical situations. Increased windshield angle provides a steady force upfront during mid-flight wind gusts on large jumps. Forward cab placement changes performance / visible bias which helps steering rotation in low traction corners. A slightly channeled roof-line helps stabilize the vehicle at high-speed. The side-pods have been simplified and JC chamfered to remove unwanted changes in height to neutralize the at-speed handling.

The Finnisher body for the Agama is a drop fit for the newly released A8 Evo buggy.

The chassis to body fit has been tightened up which eliminates empty voids that contribute to mid-flight directional changes. The rear of the cab has a new step feature which allows the placement of a secondary side window and also a louver which can be trimmed to allow air to escape at the top of the body. Additional throttle linkage clearance has been added so all the important inner movements have the necessary amount of freedom. An elevated, slotted rear body mount area provides great footing for the mounting platform while the front small nose piece slides just between the front shock tower. Enter a new level of performance with the Finnisher by JConcepts.

Features:
· Race proven JConcepts Finnisher design
· Blended wing / body design
· Unique, stepped, forward cab design
· Additional throttle linkage clearance

A great weekend for racing during the Chaos on the Coast point series put on by the Space Coast R/C Raceway. Jason Ruona, Paul Wynn along with a great group of JConcepts drivers were out to support the monthly event held at the Cocoa Beach, Florida facility. 2wd modified was hotly contested all day with JConcepts driver Daimon Borkowicz taking the round 1 TQ with Paul Wynn in 2nd. For round 2 the track speed picked up and Paul Wynn was able to stay consistent throughout the 5 minute qualifier resetting the TQ by a slight amount over Daimon.

The 7 minute A-main was the show of the weekend. Paul Wynn took the early lead and held off Daimon and Billy Easton in the early going. Daimon encountered a small mechanical problem which needed a quick repair and Billy Easton and Jason Ruona fit into 2nd and 3rd right away. Paul held off the challenge going several minutes error free putting the pressure on 2nd and 3rd to drive just as smooth. The battle heated up when Paul made a small bobble allowing Easton into the lead. Ruona moved into 2nd place and after a mistake by Easton, Ruona was into the lead. Paul was close to the battle and after Ruona and Easton tied up momentarily it was officially a 3 car race.

Wynn picked up the pace and put a lot of pressure on Ruona and the 2 were running fantastic with one another out front. Easton made it very interesting putting down some hot laps and attempted a pass on Wynn on several occasions allowing Ruona some breathing room in the lead. Ruona cruised in for the victory but the battle was still on for 2nd. Paul made a last lap effort to get into 2nd but broke the car 2 turns from the finish line. Easton made a mistake before the finish line but Wynn wasn’t able to limp by and regain 2nd. The finishing order, Jason Ruona 1st, Billy Easton 2nd and Paul Wynn 3rd and (TQ).

The tire of choice for the JConcepts duo were JConcepts Bar Codes front and rear mounted on Mono 12mm hex wheels. Green compound proved to be the qualifying compound while blue compound was the ticket for the longer 7 minute main event on the Team Associated B4.2 buggies. A special thanks to the Space Coast R/C Raceway, Ruffy Rios and the entire crew on a great day of racing.

JConcepts is pleased to offer a replacement bulkhead center cap for the famous B44.2 buggy kit. The machined aluminum component, anodized in blue, is a handy replacement for the stock plastic unit and is a drop-on to the center slipper assembly. With the motor mount and bulkhead as one assembly in the B44 vehicle, temperatures peak out and transfer through the entire center assembly allowing the new cap to act with heat-sink capability.

The stout design with external ribbing has increased strength over the plastic unit, is symmetrical in design and adds a higher level of detail and aesthetic appeal to an already championship vehicle. This part has been already used in competition by Ryan Maifield, winning events such as the Cactus Classic and JConcepts Indoor National Series events.

The JConcepts Summer Tour kicked off at Go Hard Raceway located in Green Cove Springs, just outside of Jacksonville Florida. The racing facility, under new management, had a fun, flowing layout in place for their event. GHR’s Joe Langston and a small crew put in a lot of effort to have the track in shape after recent rains pounded the surface. While still building jumps on Friday, when Saturday morning’s race day came, the track was ready, waiting on the drivers.

Race announcer of the south, Lance MacDonald was on hand to run the day’s program. 119 entries would bring an attendance record to the new race club. Qualifying was the normal affair of an outdoor Florida track, with the morning dew having a damp surface, and the drivers waiting for the sun to bring the track to a faster, good traction surface. Towards the end of the first round, that began to happen, while everyone knew that round 2 would be the rocket round.

As qualifying entered the second round, the laps times were dropping, and the round would provide the new TQ for almost every class. In the Mod classes, they were laying down the fastest times of the day, and the vehicles would pull wheelies at will with the pull of the trigger. As the mains were being set, a few clouds where moving in, and as the first few main were being ran, the one tiny cloud over the raceway opened up, ending the day of racing.

The finals were finished based off of qualifying, and the winners were:

Mod Buggy had JR Mitch with the TQ both rounds to claim the win with his JC equipped TLR 22 followed closely by Ryan Eckert, and the battle for the third step going to Landon Lewis.
Stock Truck winner, and longest distance award went to Riker Gatenby, with a smart drive to lay down the TQ in the class. Second went to Brian Lewis, and Peyton MacDonald rounding out the podium.
Stock SCT went to TLR/JC Jovan Cruz running his 22SCT, Cody Willes finishing 2nd, and Austin Venezia 3rd with his JConcepts AE.
Mod SCT went to Ryan Eckert and his Kyosho, followed by John Piant, both with the only 11 lap runs in the class, Ricky Layman getting the final step.
4Wheel SCT went to new class entry JR Mitch with a great run over hot local John Bernard both using JConcepts products to get to the front, followed by Ricky Layman in 3rd.
Stock Buggy went to Cody Willes, followed by Ricky Layman 2nd, and Billy Bruce rounding out the podium with 3rd.
4Wheel Mod was won by Alan Wight and his JConcepts equipped B44.2, followed by Matt Lardizzone in 2nd, and Brian Seckel in 3rd.

Overall it was a fun day, which is what the Summer Tour is all about. It was just a fun, one day event at tracks that you might not normally go to. Kind of bringing back the old days of racing. Put the Summer Tour on your schedule for things to do. Round 2 is at Rotors, Rutters , and Wheels in Belleview’s RRW Raceway on June 15th. See you at the races.

One of the best upgrades you can make to the Team Associated line of vehicles is a conversion to 12mm hex wheels. JConcepts has been on top of this conversion since its introduction with hex adaptors and Mono wheels. A critical point of the conversion revolves around the front axle and surrounding geometry. Within the steering block the space is very tight and especially between the 2 front bearings where the front axles rests between the bearing bores in 1 plane and the king pin in the perpendicular plane.

The JConcepts front axle design is based around high-grade titanium construction, an outer bearing crush step and an inner 4-40 locknut for security. The design eliminates c-clips, screws and other items which are hard to detect of issues which limit performance. The free spinning design includes axles, 4-40 mini lock-nuts, thin axle shims, decal and assembly instructions.

Assembly –

Assembly is built from the outside in. Slide on the outer wheel bearing from the outside of the axle and slide assembly through the (AE #9880) steering block. Insert the roll-pin from the outside and slide on the hex adaptor. Holding the assembly by the hex adaptor, slide on the inner bearing along with thin axle shims and secure the entire assembly with the 4-40 locknut. Check for the intended amount of free play and spin the axle to check entire assembly.

Features:
· JConcepts design and function
· High-grade titanium material
· Design eliminates frustrating components
· Includes mini 4-40 locknuts
· Aesthetic jewelry

JConcepts sweeps round 1 of the HobbyPlex Summer Series.

Round 1 of the Summer Series had a great showing, 142 racers showed up for a great day of 1/10th Off-Road Racing. The Track is fairly large for 1/10th scale, and the Drivers Stand puts you 15 feet in the air.

Pro 2 was all Alex Vanderbeek, all day. Alex set TQ in the first round by 10 seconds, and was a few tenths faster the second qualifier to start him first on the grid. As the tone went off, he settled into a comfortable pace, and lapped through 3rd on the 20+ second per lap track. At the finish he had the win nearly lapping 2nd place on the last lap. Alex was using the JConcepts Raptor Body, Hazzard +3mm Wheels, Orange Double Dee’s in the front, and Green Double Dee’s in the rear for his Team Associated Factory Team SC10.2.

Mack Vanderbeek started round 1 with a TQ in Mod Truck over TLR Driver and Track Promoter Alex Sturgeon. Mack bettered his TQ in round 2 placing him at the top spot as the A Main tone went off. Mack made a mistake on lap 1, and allowed a few spots to slip away. Within lap 3 Mack was back in 2nd working on the lead. With about 3 minutes down of the 8 minute race, Mack regained the lead and never let it go again. Mack was using the JConcepts Finnisher truck body and Gurney Wing, Blue Pressure Points on the front, and Green Pressure Points on the Rear of his Team Associated Factory Team T4.2.

Mod Buggy would be much more interesting as the day went on. Alex Sturgeon was dialed in early, grabbing TQ. Mack Vanderbeek and Alex Vanderbeek were working on where to find the time needed to make it a race in the Main. Sturgeon was first on the grid, Alex Vanderbeek 2nd, and Mack 3rd. The first lap Sturgeon was able to get away as Alex Vanderbeek shorted a double that collected both Vanderbeek’s. Alex was able to get away maintaining second, as Mack was owned sending him back to 9th. Both Vanderbeeks had a lot of work to do. Sturgeon tried settling into a solid pace, but Alex Vanderbeek was making up ground in a hurry. The 14 year old kept the pressure on, forcing Sturgeon to make an uncharacteristic mistake. Alex Vanderbeek took the lead and drove off. Mack meanwhile was working his way back through the pack. With about a minute left in the race, Mack had caught Sturgeon, and made a move into 2nd. Alex Vanderbeek would go on to win by 12 seconds, and Sturgeon and Mack would battle right up to line, with Mack getting second by a mere tenth of a second. Alex Vanderbeek was using the JConcepts Finnisher Body, 7” High Clearance Wing, Blue Pressure Points on the front, and Green Pressure Points on the Rear of his Team Associated Factory Team B4.2. Mack utilized the exact same setup. Alex Sturgeon was also on Green Bar Codes up front and Green Pressure Points in the Rear, making it a JConcepts Podium Sweep.

Thanks to the entire HobbyPlex crew for an amazing facility to race at.

Heat is an enemy when it comes to high-performance in electric motors. The Reedy line of Sonic motors have been a quick hit on and off the race track and have been quickly established as a force in both stock and modified racing. JConcepts introduces an all new aluminum timing cover accessory for the iconic brand motor. The aluminum acts as an additional heat sink transferring heat to an additional surface spreading the heat out over more area. The timing cover also has increased depth which allows more sensor wire plug protection in the event of a crash or collision.

The JConcepts aluminum timing cover is CNC machined, available in blue and black colors and includes upgraded hardware for installation. In addition, each cover also includes a molded sensor wire holder and hardware. The wire holder routes wires in the up position which decreases possible wire snags or drop-outs which lead to unfinished races. When it comes to high-end looks, added performance and increased durability, JConcepts has you covered with the aluminum timing cover.
