3126_800pxJConcepts enters the 1/5th off-road scene with the competition winning Reflex tire.

The Reflex tire is designed to dominate in the competitive racing ranks of 1/5th scale off-road racing. The Reflex has square angled pins that are stacked vertically to flex and fold evenly across the tire. Typically a stacked tread will wear less and provide more forward bite while the aligned space helps rotation in the turns and gives a snappy release to square up quickly. Easily one of the smaller pin tires available for 1/5th off-road, the Reflex is a beefed up version of its 1/8th scale sibling scaled up in size to withstand heavy abuse but just nimble enough to respond like a champion.

Maifield and JConcepts Wins Lonestar Challenge

by Jason Ruona on May 11, 2015

IMG_0954The Dirt crew rolled into Hutto, Texas, for the Lonestar Challenge. With a fresh track layout built with that Nitro Challenge flair, racers were excited for Thursday’s practice. JConcepts / TLR drivers Ryan Maifield and Cole Ogden flew in to compete at the Thornhill Racing Circuit against some of the finest local talent in Texas. Friday’s qualifying started with Ryan Maifield taking TQ runs in 1/8th buggy and truggy with teammate Cole Ogden taking 2nd quick-time.

With weather concerns starting in the area, the race management crew decided to shorten the race to a 2-day event placing main events on Saturday evening. As qualifying rolled on, Maifield continued to dominate in qualifying with an assortment of JConcepts tires such as the Reflex and Chasers tires.

JCO3123JConcepts enters the 1/5th off-road scene with the hefty Chasers tire.

The 1/5th Chasers rely on hefty, medium lugs which are angular in multiple directions. The horizontal type tread has a striking similarity to the trusty 1/8th buggy Crossbow tire which has remained a favorite for many years. Chasers have a squatty, close lug arrangement which gives incredible responsiveness and bites in all conditions. The wet and dry condition tire has small recessed cuts in the top of the tread for extra edges and increased formability over terrain. The center overlapping bar treatment increases durability in the highest wear region of the tire.

0291_800px_3JConcepts is here to support the re-emergence of stadium truck with a Finnisher body which drop fits on to the TLR 22-T 2.0 racing truck. The #0291 body incorporates pre-dimpled locations for the hottest new truck on the circuit. The slight cab forward, raked windshield and aggressive stance highlight a performance oriented core. A revised front hood scoop allows plenty of clearance for the unique 22-T geometry while smoothing out the front down force area. Front chin spoiler, headlight and grill protect the front-end from unwanted up-drafts during flight while the supplied decals detail stand-out like an 18 wheeler.

JCO0286_2Sometimes a splash is necessary, and with the release of the Ford Atlas, JConcepts seems to have thrown a gigantic boulder into a swimming pool. The look of the Atlas is unmistakable contemporary Built Ford Tough, with bulging wheel arches, a drop-down beltline at the front doors, and some of the biggest snarling grille nostrils ever seen on an F-150.

The Atlas body is specifically built for the Vaterra Ascender and Axial chassis (12-12.3” wheelbase) providing even more versatility to the wildly successful platforms. Fitting bumper to bumper, the body has all the possible detail of its 1:1 counterpart starting behind that oversized grille. Split headlight design with corner reveal turn signal points the Atlas in the right direction while edgy hood detail bulks around the wide-body fenders to provide plenty of clearance for an assortment of large 1.9” tires.

Super Cup Round 4 This Weekend…

by Rich on May 4, 2015

FZRC - May 2, 2015The 4th and final round of the 2015 Super Cup Championship Series Spring Session will be hosted by FZRC in Sarasota, Florida. Points battles are heating up in many classes and with a new layout in, some have taken advantage of a warm-up race this past weekend to step up their game.

Round 3 of the Spring Session was hosted by Coral Springs RC Track back on March 28th. With a decent turnout, a new layout and perfect weather on race day, there was some great racing. A few rain showers hit the track late Friday, giving us a nice loamy surface for the first round of qualifying on Saturday. The sun tried to come out a few times and the track started drying out and grooving up in spots. The track crew did another amazing job of keeping the surface blown and lap times dropped by the Mains.

Reno_2We are pleased to welcome Reno Savoya to our world-wide race team. Currently we have IFMAR World Champions, ROAR National Champions and Regional Champions on the race team and it’s exciting to bring a European Champion back together with JConcepts. Reno’s racing ability is incredible, but, it’s the personable and professional reputation that stands out to us as the huge upside. Watch for Reno to race a complete full calendar of 1/8th off-road events as well as dipping into some 1/10th off-road as time allows.

Reno Savoya states, “I’m delighted to join the JConcepts race team. It is a brand that brought a lot to this industry with major achievements and innovations. Well known worldwide with IFMAR and ROAR wins, it is also a great opportunity to work with some of the best drivers in the world. I’m excited with this new challenge and I will put in the best effort possible to bring titles on European soil. I would also like to thank everyone at Sweep Korea and USA for the last 4 successful years, especially Steve Kong and Ryan Lee.”

JCO2283-1The next generation of 1/10th off-road racing revolves around setup, precision and accuracy. The JConcepts camber gauge, manufactured from billet aluminum material is brilliantly machined to high specifications and anodized to a luster. The detailed instrument is available in either blue or black anodizing and laser etched with graduated measurements from -10 to +10 degrees for a complete range of camber adjustments.

The camber gauge comes preassembled with 4mm hardware for the pivot and thumbscrew as the setting knob. The structure features chamfered silver edging, highlighting the design. The alignment arm on the gauge is heavily chamfered which creates the perfect touch point against the tire and wheel. Each gauge comes in a latch box with foam insert which fits snugly around the instrument with heavy cushion. When racing gets serious, get precise with JConcepts.
