With the stadium truck being based off the very successful B5M platform, most of the Factory Team option parts are interchangeable and already in stock. Roaming through the pits we had a chance to sit down and talk to Ron Schuur, team manager of HOBBYWING. It was interesting to discuss the testing and tuning Ron had come up with for his team drivers here this weekend at the JConcepts Winter Indoor Nationals. The last round of qualifying was a an awesome display of dominance by TLR’s JP Richards. On a mission, Richards set the quickest time in all 3 classes he entered. Posting the fastest time in the 2wd modified class with a 19 lap 5:04.78, Richards was able to take his 1st TQ and bettering his overall position for tomorrow’s triple a-main by starting 2nd on the grid.
Finishing 2nd was once again AE/JConcepts’ Nick Gibson with a 19 lap 5:05.45. With a hard fought 1st and a 2nd in qualifying, 19 year old Gibson would earn the overall TQ and giving him the best chance for success by starting 1st on the grid. 3rd place for the last round of qualifying was TLR/JConcepts’ Cody Hollis. Round 2 of the Winter Indoor National Series has seen an unexpected rise of the young, fast, and talented racers like Nick Gibson. The Team Associated/JConcepts driver had a near flawless run with just 2 minor incidents with traffic, but was able to climb his way to the front and put in the fastest time of the round with a 19 lap 5:08.35. Having not changed his car from his first run, Gibson said he was “glad to have a much better run than round 1,” and was much happier with his performance. [click to continue…]
After the 1st round of qualifying, the battle is starting to heat up in the modified 2wd class. Taking the round 1 TQ was Kyosho/Orion’s Luke Richards setting the bar high with a 19 lap 5:12.64. Having a great run, Richards said he’s “not going to change a thing for round 2 and see what happens.” Since there is no saucing allowed, Richards moved his “hubs forward to get that extra traction.” [click to continue…]
With almost 330 entries for the event, SMACTRAC has once again kicked off the 2015 JConcepts Indoor National Series in style. With seeding wrapped up for the day, racers have headed home to recharge their batteries for tomorrow’s intense 3 rounds of ultra competitive qualifying.
The layout has been challenging to all racers of all skill levels. One of the more difficult things to time is the cambered turns that mistakenly lead drivers right into the pipe. In addition, with no sauce allowed, traction has been hard to come by as all drivers are currently searching for more overall grip.

JConcepts sweeps the 4wd Modified Buggy podium at the first annual Serpent Challenge.
The first annual Serpent Challenge at Lesiure Hours Raceway in Joliet, IL, a one day race that brought in 245 of the fastest racers from several states.
In 4wd mod buggy JConcepts Team Driver, Tyler Jones would lay down the fastest run to capture the TQ spot with his JConcepts equipped TLR 22-4. Tyler ran Dirt Webs in Gold compound with Dirt-Tech inserts. Rounding out the podium would be JConcepts Driver’s Austin Horne in 2nd and Brett Kingsbury in 3rd. [click to continue…]
