Side bar – starting things out with a side bar is an interesting start but necessary. How can we combine the World Series of Poker with UFC fighting? They seem to have more sponsors in those sports than R/C racers. They don’t seem to care where they put the logos either. I thought we were bad with putting decals on our shirts. Condom depot.com? Really? I guess this is where we are at in sports right now. Is poker a sport or game? I think sunglasses are like cheating. Where is the tech located at these events? Brad and Jeff have both been to the WSOP so I might ask them for an opinion.
On to the real story.
I had an appointment to meet with the guys from Extreme R/C cars magazine in Chino at around noon. Time to make another big drive with the Yaris. I’ve been told by a good sales guy that these are great selling cars and for $14,000 I can see why. Good thing for the google maps on my IPhone. Holy crap this thing is awesome! Thanks to Brent T for telling me to use it. I just need a car charger for this thing. Maybe I can hook a Reedy Lipo to this thing?
Btw – I still don’t have a wireless headset device. I’ve gone back to talking illegally. Sorry Cali! Doesn’t Billy Mays sell a device for the car that runs the phone through the car speakers?
Ah, Billy Mays he belongs in the “figured out” list. Perfect addition to the list I might add. Have you seen his show, pitch men? Pretty good. Maybe TD should grow a beard and give Billy Mays a run?
Extreme visit was awesome and a nice tour and facility to boot. Did you see the latest issue of extreme? Their girl of the month looks a lot like the JC girl. I referred to her as Amanda 2.0. Photos attached.
While touring extreme Mike Velez pointed out an issue from 97 where they did an interview with me. Wow, pretty old stuff. Check out the dialed B3!
Leaving Chino it was time to drop by Associated talk to Brent, pick up some parts and head out to dinner for the Lakers game.
Sitting in Brent’s office I bumped into the latest RC Car Action issue dedicated to Desert and Off-Road complete with the first JConcepts ad. The ad featured the Truth body lineup for the Slash and SC10. Also shown in the ad is Amanda 1.0, GooseBumps tires and a sneak peak of the Rulux wheels for the SC10. I think it came out pretty well. Can you handle the Truth?
Also in the issue is a bizzare article on a bug that has the most prominately placed JConcepts decals I’ve seen in quite a while. This guy must be working on his resume. 🙂
I spent a few hours at AE solving all the RC industry problems…..ha We normally do this at lunch at JConcepts. We normally get to the bottom of just about anything in about an hours time.
Brent asked if I needed any parts and it was getting close to closing time so it was time for a little AE shopping. We were mostly on a mission to rebuild and freshen up my RC8b. A few of the new items have arrived into inventory so I was able to get some of the new stuff. I can finally move my receiver pack forward. Check out my photos from practice at Rev (coming soon) I tried to get some detail shots of the new parts. This RC8b is more updated than is seen on the internet folks.
I filled a 3mil 14 x 24 (TD will appeciate the details) poly bag with the latest and grabbed a new B4 kit for home. I opened the box right there in the factory, pulled out the kit body, wing, wheels and tires and handed them back to BT. I’m still rocking the same chassis on my B4 from 2007 in Japan so I think my ready for a freshie. As it turns out the B4 is a pretty good car especially decked out with Hi-Flow, Rulux wheels and Bar Codes. Woo hoo! Brent will invoice me later… 😉
Just about the time we were finishing up Saxton walks in after a hard day testing with Cav. Richard pulls out his new How To DVD movie and we sit down and watch a few chapters. Good idea for the King. He goes through his entire prepping routine complete with a 10 minute qual. by being miced up. He calls out traffic problems before they happen…etc. 2 thumbs up from my stand point. Richard is all about everything relative to racing and helping the guy that wants to learn more. Cliff Lett sighting! While doing some shopping I had a stop and chat with CL. Cliff just does not age. I knew he was smart but I didn’t think he had figured out how to stop aging. Perhaps a new AE product coming soon? We are waiting for the release date on the aging formula before dragging and dropping him into the list. The “list” is starting to get a little crowded. We might have to create a new folder or simply drag and drop into the recycle bin some that aren’t really as deserving.
TD is heavy into recycling but I wonder if he has multiple recycle folders on his desktop? 100% committed?
Time for game 2 of Lakers vs. Nuggets at Staples. We were back at the Yard House for more yelling and screaming at the TV. Cav had a small cheering battle with the table behind us but on this night it was the Nuggets that were able to be victorious thanks to Mr big shot. The king really has a way of rubbing it in at the end too. Maybe a sportsmanship DVD release coming soon?
