This past weekend we ran the 2010 Midwest Stock Shootout. Some awesome racing took place, and a lot of fun as well!

STOCK SHORT COURSE TRUCK

Running the Team Associated SC10 powered by the LRP SXX ESC, LRP X-12 17.5 Motor, and Reedy 5000 Lipo I TQ’ed all 4 rounds of qualifying hooking up awesome with the JConcepts Goosebumps. One 10-minute A-Main for the Short Course class instead of Triple A-Mains, led to a 2 lap win over the field.

STOCK BUGGY

Running the Team Associated B4 powered by the LRP SXX ESC, LRP X-12 17.5 Motor, and Reedy 5000 Lipo teammate Chad Parks and I battled for the TQ Spot. Chad TQed Round 1 and 2, but was overthrown in Round 3 when I was able to take TQ by 2 seconds for the round with my car hooking up awesome running my JConcepts Blue Barcodes. It all came down to Round 4 for the overall TQ spot. Only 8 tenths of a second apart on the clock, with less than a minute to go, I got tangled in lapped traffic and giving Chad the overall TQ for the weekend.

A-Main #1 – As the tone sounded,it was instant carnage as Parks snuck away while in third place starting position I found myself along with the rest of the field  in a first turn take out. Working my way back through the field, I un-intentionally took out the 3rd Place driver in an attempt to pass. While pulling over to let him have the spot back, ANOTHER driver slipped by. With time running out I ended up with a 4th place finish.

A-Main #2 – With a clean start in A2, it was a close battle for the lead until close to the 3 minute mark. As we began making our way through traffic I clipped a turn marshalls foot, which ended up putting me 2nd for the main.

A-Main #3 – With Parks already wrapping up the overall win, the #1 spot was empty on the grid. All that was necessary for a second overall was a clean start and stay out front. The tone sounded and corner number one I found myself upside down tangled with third place AGAIN, sitting in last. Working my way through the field time was running out fast, but as the timer was about to sound, I was sitting in second. First place and I crossed the loop just in time for ONE FINAL LAP. As we came around to the rhythm section he doubled a car width wide enough for me to sneak to the inside. In the end I took the win in A3, with an overall finish of 2nd for Stock Buggy.

Overall it was an awesome weekend! It’s starting off to be a great year, and I can’t wait for the Nitro Challenge less than a month away!
