Event: 2010 Chitown Shootout
Date: March 5-7, 2010
Location: Leisure Hours Raceway / Joliet, IL
Race Reporter: JP Richards
This past weekend I was at the 2010 Chi Town Shootout. I ran Mod truck and buggy. There were the fastest guys in the Midwest and some national fast guys. Drivers in attendance were Chad Due, Rod Rippe, Al Horn, Brian Mellow, Matt Gosh, and many fast locals. There was practice all day Friday, three quals on Saturday and last qual and mains on Sunday. All qualifying was ran in qual points format with your best two out of four counting.
In Buggy I had a good first run with a 2 for the round. Then in qual 2 & 3 I had bad runs. But on Sunday my last qual was extremely good. I ended up TQing round 4. So for the mains I was 2nd on the grid. At the start I was hot on the trail of Johnny LoGiudece but made a bobble on lap 2 so that shuffled me back to 8th. I made my way up to 3rd in the end. With Johnny taking the win and Al Horne 2nd.
In Truck I had just okay qualifying runs. I ended up 4th on the grid for the main. But in the main I made my way to 2nd to hold that till the end. Cory Crosley took the win and Al Horne taking 3rd.
So at the end of the weekend I was 3rd in buggy and 2nd in truck. I would like to thank my sponsors for all of their support, my next race will be March Madness at AMS Raceway in Michigan.
