The second round of the North Carolina Championship Series was held this past weekend in Wilkesboro, N.C. With a newly designed track and the threat of rain the learning curve was quick and the program moved fast. The track surface was a challenge as well, provided by a loamy mix of river sand and multiple sections of jumps and off camber turns.
The qualifying was cut short to 2 rounds due to the threat of rain. JConcepts driver Barry Pettit TQ’ed the Expert Buggy and the Truggy class.
The Truggy class ran first and the track proved brutal as an A-arm broke while leading a lap ahead of the field.
The buggy class was the final race of the day. Barry had some early challenges but went on to win with a sizeable 2 lap lead at the end. In Buggy Barry ran JConcepts blue compound Subcultures and in Truggy Barry ran the JConcepts blue compound Cross Hairs.
The rain started to fall as the winners pictures were being taken. It was a fun day in the beautiful mountains of the Blue Ridge in North Carolina. Barry maintains the points lead in Expert Buggy with a TQ and Win in the first two events.
