Allison’s POV #4
Well today is Monday I think. We got back to the hotel around 7:00pm last night.
Up today at 6:00am, we were told the bus would arrive at 7am to drive us to the track.
We waited in the lobby and on the front steps of the hotel. There are at least 60 people I suppose- plus cars, radio boxes, some gear/ tool boxes. We and AE left our large bags in our container at the track. Jason and I carry just our backpacks.
30 minutes after the scheduled time the bus finally arrives. Amazingly we all fit on the bus, standing room only. As I’m typing this I’m missing some of the scenery but while I think we are on a different route from yesterday, the view is the same.
The “buildings” or almost like a pavilion we would call in the states, or flea market style outdoor buildings look the same street to street. Reminds me of Jamaica or similar island countries.
So now it’s 8:12 – we’ve been on the bus for 45 min and we were all starting to wonder about the different route. We pull up to a sports complex- and we all realize that the bus driver had no idea where we were going. Hilarious.
Qualifying starts at 9.
We arrived to the track about 15 til 9:00.
First practice track time today, all in scheduled times. Maifield has already run once. Most JC drivers going out on Green Subcultures.
The track is amazing, turn marshalls wear cotton like t-shirts to cover their face and bicycle helmets for protection.
Engines are on, drivers hitting the track – nitro frenzy has begun.
