Tuesday Morning- Day 2 -Practice
Weather feels awesome temperature wise today. But it’s only 9 am
Shuttle from hotel this am, just Jason and I and some nice guys from Malaysia.
First Race up, begin timed Practice at 9am. First up is a good group – includes Hara, D.Ronnefalk, Miguel Matias, Renaud Savoya, Bayer, Robert Battle, Drake, Truhe, Pavidis, Kortz, Verjak, Tortorici, Yannick, Jorn Neumann, and Sinnosuke Adachi.
The snack bar (snack-boo to some) already has a long line and the local vendors have arrived on their carts to peddle their wares – everything from cuttlefish to fresh fruit and an ice cream cart.
Yesterday I heard the powers that be deemed Tebo as fastest lap followed directly by Maifield. The top laps turned were in 45-46 second range, per lap.
Already in the beginning of day 2, practice round 1, Hara is running ahead of the pack, his best with a lap in mid 46’s. Battle has one quick lap in the 46’s also, but hangs at the back still. The next 9 or so drivers (12 on the track) battle within a second of each other all hovering around 47 seconds.
Race 2 – 9:20 am; Honigl, Vray, Bayer, Borja Hernandez, Ryan Maifield, Quagraine, Cavalieri, Wheeler, Tessman, Gomez, Boero, Cragg, Tanaka, Lutz and Jerome Aigion.
Maifield putting down great laps- Ryan Lutz put down the first 45 -wow 45.9. Maifield leading consistently – 46.0. In the end Lutz was unable to Finish the round, Cragg appeared to get a late start and was down a few laps. Maifield finishes out front. He was one of only 3 cars to get 13 laps. Two guys complete 12 laps and so on down the line.
Even for the practice round today the spectator stands are packed -It’s going to be absolutely mad for the mains.
Third group:
Tebo, Robbers, Degani, Easton, Josh Payne, Sartel, T Vik, T James, Kawamoto, Ramirez, Kanai, Linus, Teemu Leino, Dani Vega, Bloomfield.
No surprise here Tebo puts down fastest lap of the bunch at 45.4. By the end on last lap he breaks into 44 second range -wow.
Track is definitely Getting faster, race 4 is up now Travis Amezcua leads, fast lap low 45. Lee Martin 46.2. Also in this race – Elliott Boots, Fischer, Otsuka, Osaka, Bradley, Griffin, Saxton, Korn, Gustafsson, Hudy, Deroche, Gomez, Agus. Amezcua finished in the lead – He just makes 13 laps.
Fastest 3 consecutive laps will get a re-seed from practice sessions.
