JConcepts drivers set the pace in qualifying rounds 1 and 2 before settling the event on qualifying order due to weather constraints.
Event: 2011 Super Cup Championships Series – Fall Session # 2
Date: September 24th, 2011
Location: Coral Springs, FL
The Super Cup Championship Series round 2 was held in Coral Springs, FL September 24, 2011. Racers started arriving on Friday to get some track time on the new layout. Late in the afternoon, as the track was getting to a good grip level the weather rolled in and ended practice late in the afternoon. The Coral Springs crew immediately jumped on the maintenance and began draining and sweeping puddles preparing for Saturdays racing. Saturday started off with the Coral Springs Club doing an amazing job to get the track ready for the first round of qualifiers. 169 total entries, making up 19 heats hit the track and qualifying was well underway.
As the drivers were challenged with the changing conditions of the fresh track, it first started very wet and then progressed to dry, some breaking-bumps entering the corners made qualifying a little tricky. JConcepts drivers Mike Applegate (2wd stock, truck stock), JR Mitch (2wd modified, SCT modified), Felix Law (4×4 SCT, 4wd buggy) and Dave Bowser (SCT stock) were among the JConcepts drivers getting a TQ in the first or 2nd Round solidifying their positions up front. Double Dees and Flip Outs were the tire of choice as the changing track conditions were a factor. Caleb Ohara put down a terrific run in modified truck taking TQ while Mike Barone took TQ in the 1/8th e-buggy class.
Race director Mike Applegate and guest announcer Dave Dominguez ran a tight show but once again the bad weather rolled in and the race was stopped briefly and then completely as a downpour came down on the racing surface ending the 2nd Round of qualifying. Per the Super Cup rules the finishing positions were decided based on completed rounds and classes of competition leaving the TQ’s with the overall wins as well. The Super Cup Round 2 was finished and despite the weather, there was some good track and bench-racing and the Super Cup rolls on.
A huge thank you goes out to the racers and Coral Springs RC club, for all the hard work. See you at the next Super Cup Series race, October 29th, at NewRed Hobbies in Ocala, FL.

Ditto. I think the mains would have been something to watch like Shriverville was. But it was overall an awesome layout and event until the weather rolled in and cancelled it. Can’t wait for the next. Hope to see everyone there!
