JConcepts wins Mod Short Course and Mod Truck this past weekend at the North East Off-road Grand Prix.
The North East Off-road Grand Prix was held this past weekend at Radio Control Hobbies and Raceway in Waterbury CT. With all the bad weather in the area in the past 2 weeks, the entries still were over 100! The competition was fierce with drivers from Associated, X-Factory, T.Q. and Durango on hand as the track went from smooth and moist to dry and rough. JConcepts Team Drivers John Cravotta and Christopher Proctor both attended this event.
The first Qualifier went well for John against some very fast local drivers and also AE, and TQ Factory Drivers. John was sitting in 2nd only 3 sec off of TQ in the Open SC Class even after making a few mistakes and setting the TQ in the Open Truck class by 5 Sec.
The Second Qualifier John ran a fast pace in Open SC, so did his JConcepts Teammate Christopher who took the TQ with John finishing second. In truck, John’s X60 just kept getting better all day, he was ahead of his TQ by 9 seconds and then made some mistakes finishing only 3 seconds ahead of his TQ.
In the 3rd Truck qualifier John reset his TQ by a lap. In Mod Short Course, John’s SCX-60CF was locked in with JConcepts Blue Bar Codes and he was on a mission to take TQ setting the fast lap all weekend with a 17.6 when avg laps were 18.2. John made a couple mistakes and that cost him the 2nd qualifying position in the A Main with teammate Christopher taking overall TQ in Mod Short Course.
John decided to make some changes for the Main to his SCX-60CF and they were incredible. The JConcepts Blue Bar Codes made his two warm up laps feel as if his SC was on rails. At the beginning of the race, John was spun out from behind in a corner putting him in last place. John pushed hard every lap catching and cutting inside on everything that he came up on. John was now right behind the 3rd place driver Barry Goodwin from AE, he mapped out his spot to pass him and on the next lap he did. John was now focused on the 2nd place driver and moved closer and closer after two laps he was only two small turns away. Christopher Proctor was in the lead and held on to take the win, John finishing in 3rd a few seconds back of 2nd.
The Truck A Main was all John Cravotta, John made an early pass to take the lead and never looked back, taking the win by a lap running JConcepts Pressure Points in Green Compound.
A special thanks has to go out Alex Kosciuczek’s mother for the HUGE spread of fantastic homemade food for all of the hungry racers!!
