JConcepts Factory driver Ray Munday has taken out the Modified class at the Keilor Invitational held 24/25 January in Melbourne, Australia.
Run on the same weekend as the world famous Reedy Race, the top racers from Australia were invited to compete in a head to head event with 5 rounds of 2wd and 5 rounds of 4wd. An Open class was also offered, with the winner gaining automatic invite to the 2016 event.
The Keilor club had rebuilt their track for the event with a treated dirt surface and a challenging layout. The rules allowed the drivers to choose a Bar type tyre from their favourite brand (Bar Codes in the case of JConcepts) and tyres were limited to 3 sets for 5 races.
Ray Munday successfully defended his 2014 title using JConcepts Bar Codes tyres (and Dirt Webs on the front of the 2wd). Joining him on the podium was fellow JConcepts driver Glen Bonetti, also taking out a round of the 2wd class. Andrew Selvaggi also won a round of the 2wd class using JConcepts tyres.
Ray also used the JConcepts Finnisher, 6.5″ Hi-Clearance pre-cut wing, JC alloy hexes and titanium front axles, carbon battery brace, Fin turnbuckles, Mono wheels, Dirt Tech inserts and JConcepts Bar Codes.
A 17.5T invite class was run in conjunction with the event, and Brad Portelli took out the 2wd 17.5T ‘open’ class using JConcepts tyres on the back of his Schumacher buggy.
Capping off a great weekend for the team, Rays 8 year old son Lachlan made the A in the 17.5T 2wd class with his JConcepts equipped Reedy B5M and was awarded top junior.
Thanks to all involved for a great event!
