The 4th and final round of the 2015 Super Cup Championship Series Spring Session will be hosted by FZRC in Sarasota, Florida. Points battles are heating up in many classes and with a new layout in, some have taken advantage of a warm-up race this past weekend to step up their game.
Round 3 of the Spring Session was hosted by Coral Springs RC Track back on March 28th. With a decent turnout, a new layout and perfect weather on race day, there was some great racing. A few rain showers hit the track late Friday, giving us a nice loamy surface for the first round of qualifying on Saturday. The sun tried to come out a few times and the track started drying out and grooving up in spots. The track crew did another amazing job of keeping the surface blown and lap times dropped by the Mains.
In the 40+ Buggy Class, Tracy Craver would TQ and go on to win the A Main. David Wallace and Danny Wight would have a great battle for 2nd with David finishing 2nd, Danny a close 3rd. Tracy Carver is our current points leader in that class with Billy Bruce and Rich Schafer close behind.
Independent Stock Buggy had Joe Barbera sitting TQ. Kelly Vanassche and Rick Jacobs would bump from the B Main. A great battle for 1st and 2nd between Joe Barbera and Jeff Lynn would have Joe finishing just .535 of a second ahead of Jeff. Danny Wight would finish 3rd. Joe Barbera, Jeff Lynn and Danny Wight are very close in points for the top three, we’ll see who comes out on top after Round 4.
Daimon Borkowicz would TQ and win the 2wd Mod Buggy class with JR Mitch a close 2nd. Chris Viesins would finish 3rd. JR Mitch is the current points leader in that class with Billy Easton a close 2nd. Rounding out the top 5 in that class going into Round 4 has Christopher Viesins sitting 3rd, Jason Ruona 4th and Daimon Borkowicz in 5th. That’s with 1 drop factored in. 2wd Mod Buggy will be a great class to watch this weekend.
Another class with a great points battle is Stock Truck. Factoring in 1 drop, we have Dan Borkowicz and Tilar Pollack tied at 200 but Dan has the advantage with two 99’s against Tilars 99 and 91. Dan TQ’d and won Round 3 and Tilar TQ’d and won Round 2. This will be another class to watch this weekend.
Round 3 had Daimon take the TQ in Mod Truck but JR Mitch would take the win. JR and Daimon are close in points, we’ll see who has the victory this weekend. JR and Daimon both have been practicing at FZRC recently so look for some great battles here as well.
4wd Mod Buggy has Daimon, JR and Christopher Viesins in a three way battle for points. Round 3 had Daimon taking the TQ and win with JR finishing a close 3rd. Viesins finished 4th that weekend.
