JConcepts puts in a dominated performance at the 2015 Off-road GIC!
The 2nd Annual Georgia Indoor Championships was held on November 14-15, 2015 and was once again hosted by HotshotRC Raceway in Marietta, GA. The track is roughly 90’x65’ and was beautifully manicured, hard packed, pure Georgia red clay. The track started out a little slick for practice, but local JConcepts racer Mark Moon had his teammates dialed in with Dirt Webs in black compound. With 175 entries, race director Lance MacDonald made the decision to let the track go dry as it would take too much time to keep it wet. Once the track dried out, green Smoothies became the ultimate tire choice for the majority of racers.
Qualifying got underway Saturday morning with some great racing as JConcepts drivers set the early pace with TQ’s in 6 classes. This trend continued throughout 3 rounds of qualifying as JConcepts ended the day with 6 total overall class TQ’s:
2wd Stock Truck – AJ Marasco
2wd Stock Buggy – Alan Wight
2wd Stock SCT – Robert Molina
2wd Mod Buggy – Daimon Borkowicz
2wd Mod Truck – Daimon Borkowicz
4wd Mod Buggy – JR Mitch
Main day was a busy day as there were triple A-mains for all classes as well as bump-ups. Once the dust settled from all the bump-ups, the A-Mains were set and the Championships were up for grabs.
-2wd Stock Buggy got things rolling with a dominating performance by TQ holder Alan Wight as he kept his JConcepts equipped B5M up front all day to take the overall win by winning the 1st & 2nd A-mains. JConcepts teammates AJ Marasco and Collin Cabre rounded out the podium as they finished 2nd and 3rd.
-2wd Mod Buggy was next with some big names up front, but TQ man Daimon Borkowicz was in a class of his own. Daimon and his JConcepts equipped B5M would go on to lead every lap of the first two A-mains for the overall win. JConcepts teammates JR Mitch and Paul Wynn battled it out down to the last lap of A-3 to round out the 2nd and 3rd place podium spots.
-2wd Stock Truck saw another dominating performance from the TQ position. AJ Marasco was unmatched all weekend long as he took his JConcepts equipped T5M to the top of the podium by winning the first two A-mains. The 2nd and 3rd podium spots were filled by JConcepts teammates Robert Molina and Aaron Sikes.
-2wd Mod Truck saw a little bit more excitement as Daimon Borkowicz and Landen Lewis exchanged the lead a few times in the first A-main as Daimon held on for the win, but in the second A-main Daimon took his JConcepts equipped T5M to a wire-to-wire win for the overall win. Landen would hold on for 2nd overall and JConcepts driver Blake Boggs rounded out the 3rd podium spot.
-2wd Stock SCT once again saw another wire-to-wire win by Robert Molina. Robert kept his JConcepts equipped SC5M up front all weekend as he went on to win the first two A-mains for the overall win. Teammate Kevin Abbott would secure the 2nd podium spot and Andrew Trask locked up the 3rd and final podium spot.
-4wd Mod Buggy would see our first win not from the TQ position. Daimon Borkowicz would get by TQ man JR Mitch on the first lap and they would remain within 2-3 seconds for the entire first A-main. The second A-main had Daimon get by JR after a mistake on the first lap, JR would have an unfortunate break on the first lap leaving the door wide open for Daimon to cruise to an easy victory and the overall win. JR would take his JConcepts equipped TLR 22-4 to an easy victory in the third A-main to secure the 2nd overall podium spot and local fan favorite Shon Harding had a great day locking up the 3rd podium spot.
JConcepts would like to thank track owner Brad Galyean, race director Lance MacDonald, and the entire HotshotRC track crew headed up by Carl Knight for an amazing event.
