JConcepts Team Driver Alberto Garcia attended the 1st round of competitive Madrid Championship. With his new Sworkz EVOII and JConcepts tires, Alberto climbed his way to the top and took the overall win by one lap. Here is a recap of the race from Alberto…
“Last weekend one of the strongest championships in Spain started the season at the amazing CARTT track in Madrid (Spain).
Free practice was cancelled because of heavy rain, so we began directly with a 10 minute controlled practice. This was our first race with the new Sworkz EVOII Limited, I did not have much time to practice with it, so controlled practice and Q1 was not so good as we expected.
In Q2, we made a clean round, finishing second, only 0,1s slower than TQ.
We continued improving the setup in Q3, finishing this time 1sec slower than TQ but we made the overall package more confortable, using JConcepts Reflex in green compound. Finishing 3rd qualifying overall.
For the semifinals we continued improving step by step, and manged to win our semifinal with JConcepts Reflex tires in blue compound, getting the fastest time and securing the #1 for the 45minutes main final.
The feeling for the main was great and we took the lead for the first lap, followed by former European champion Dani Vega and young top driver Oscar Navarro. After a mistake, I was down to 2nd place for 10minutes, but my JConcepts Detox were working perfectly and I knew it would be only a few laps until I was able to recover the lead. After we got our rhythm, without mistakes, we took the lead and the win, finishing one lap in front of second place, and two laps in front of 3rd and former European “B” Champion, Javi Pombo.
