The JConcepts Indoor National Series has arrived at Outback Raceway and you know what that means…. Summer INS time! As excited as we are to be here in Chico, California, it is bitter sweet as this will be the final JConcepts Summer INS race ever to be held indoor at the beloved Outback Raceway at Amain Hobbies.
After 8 wonderful years, the 10th scale racing scene will be moved outdoors to their ‘Million Dollar’ race facility that once held the IFMAR Worlds Championships better known as Silver Dollar Raceway. Outback Raceway will be greatly!
Friday practice was all about getting cars easy to drive on slicks! With the grip super high here at Outback, many drivers are choosing to go with JConcepts gold Smoothies for the ultimate lap time, but of course at the risk of traction rolling their way off the track. But for those who are able to master and manipulate this abrasive surface, the rewards are high.
From 5pm on, it was time to start the seeding rounds as everyone was anxiously waiting to see would rise to the top. The format was simple taking the fastest 3 consecutive laps from each driver in 3 minute practice runs and emerging fastest in the modified classes was none other than the current World Champion, JConcepts’ Spencer Rivkin. 2wd, 4wd, and mod truck, the WC was relentless in his approach and started the weekend off with a powerful statement.
Also making his name known in recent times, ultra fast and talented JConcepts’ Tanner Day was able to start the weekend off on the right foot seeding 2nd in 2wd, 4th in 4wd, and 3rd in mod truck.
JConcepts other young gun and birthday boy, Daimon Borkowicz (now at the tender age of 16) put in a strong start to his weekend seeding 3rd in 2wd and 2nd in 4wd showing the Florida native’s super pace.
Here are the results of the top 10 seed times in all classes below! Stay tuned as we have only just begun.
