It was definitely a great performance by the JConcepts team at the Stock Nationals hosted by OCRC just a few weekends ago. If you missed the race report, check it out here. With the competition higher than the official ROAR Stock Nationals, the JConcepts team drivers were able to TQ and sweep all 4 of the Expert classes and we couldn’t be more proud. It’s definitely a team effort even though the racing part comes down to a solo performance in 1/10th scale electric racing. Off the track, the team is working hard figuring out tire prep, car setup, and helping each other with driving lines, racing strategy, and advice. With everyone’s hard work, the results definitely showed at the Stock Nationals.
In this blog post, we will be taking a look at the winner’s cars and the products they used in order to achieve the success at the Stock Nats. While a lot of our team drivers are amazingly talented and blessed with speed along with an insane amount of eye and hand coordination, in order to win at the highest level you must have the right equipment at the right time. One of the biggest, if not the biggest factor to speed and performance comes down to the tires.
Tires, tires, tires –
Since Ryan Cavalieri joined the team earlier this year, his ‘go to’ tire setup at OCRC has been a combination of gold Space Bar fronts and Dirt Web rears however, there was a shift during the Stock Nationals as the team drivers were finding more corner speed with the Space Bar rears and awesome steering response of the Space Bar fronts.
On top of the great forward bite and being a little more free in the corners, the gold Space Bars would provide great wear characteristics and get faster as the tires wore down.
Some would still choose to run the Dirt Webs either in a mix combination of front and rears giving the racers another high-performance option to further dial in the feel of the car. Like 2wd Expert Stock winner, Jake Thayer would still choose to run the gold Dirt Webs in the front because he liked how the tire handled on the track. Jake would go on to win the 2wd class with an amazing comeback drive.
Also winning on Dirt Webs was Kyle Layton in the Expert Stock SC class and Blake Beyett in the Expert Stock Truck class. Both drivers would go on to TQ and take a wire to wire win in a grueling 10-minutete A-Main using Dirt Webs and Dirt Tech inserts.
Advice from the winners –
Proven on the race track with victories in 4 of 4 expert stock classes, the JConcepts Factory Drivers have a few tips on how you can raise your game and become a Stock National winning driver and follow in their footsteps. Hopefully, these words can connect with you to help you advance your skillset faster and make racing more enjoyable.
