Summer might be coming to end soon, but there is no end in sight for the winning ways of the JConcepts race team! Please read this week’s Race Team Update to see where we are winning at across the globe!
Let’s start off this week’s report down in Huntsville, AL at the 11th Annual Rocket City Challenge at RC3 (Rocket City Radio Controlled Race Club) Racing. Even with the event being rescheduled they still saw an impressive 160 entries over the weekend. There was three rounds of qualifying on Saturday with all the mains on Sunday. We had several drivers in attendance so let’s check out a few highlighted results.
Team driver Izriah Osborne competed in both the 1/8 Nitro and Electric Buggy classes. In the main for Nitro Buggy he had the lead till a flameout dropped him out of the top 5. He also made the main for Electric Buggy and had a close battle with 3rd place but had to settle for 4th place. His cars were running fast thanks to JConcepts Aqua compound Blockers on his nitro car and Blue compound Triple Dee’s on his E-Buggy.
JC driver Chris Rakus also raced in both classes. He was able to set the TQ in Electric Buggy and qualify 4th in Nitro Buggy! In the Nitro main an untimely flameout caused him drop back and settle for 5th place. In the Electric main he was battling with fellow driver Jeremy Reid before his battery dumped with two laps to go but he was still able to limp his car across for a 2nd place finish! JC driver Randy Enger joined the team on the podium in 5th place and Chris said both cars were running great on Aqua compound Blockers.
Team mate Blake Boggs also competed in 1/8 Nitro Buggy too. He reports he was able to set the TQ for the weekend while running on Aqua compound in Blockers! He had a little bad luck in the main with a flameout but was still able to finish in 2nd place! He also had this to say about the team’s results:
“A great weekend for all the JConcepts team drivers at the Rocket City Challenge as we dominated the mains and by far had the best tire options available for the surface! Thanks to everyone at JC for all the hard work you do for the team, we couldn’t do it without y’all!”
Chris and Blake might have had some bad luck in the buggy mains, but lady luck was their side in the Pit Stop Challenge! They took home the trophy for the fastest pit stop! Nice job guys!
As mentioned earlier, JC driver Jeremy Reid was competing in the 1/8 Electric Buggy class and took the overall win! He also competed in the 1/8 Nitro Buggy class and doubled his win total with a victory in that main too! He said the Jconcepts A2 compound Blockers were the perfect tire for the hot, grooved, and bumpy surface.
Also doing work at this event was team driver Drew Williams. He competed in 4 classes: 1/8 Nitro and Electric Truggy, 1/8 Electric Buggy, and 1/10 4wd Truggy.
Starting with the 1/10 4wd Truggy class, in the main he got out to an early lead and was able to check out on the rest of the filed for the win! In the 1/8 Electric Truggy class he was battling for the lead but then hit a snag with his electronics and had to dial back his car to make sure it finished but he still secured 2nd overall! In the 1/8 Nitro Truggy main an early flameout (don’t you love nitro??) dropped him from contention. But then he drove his Truggy like he stole it and was able to lap the entire field for the win! Finally, in the 1/8 Electric Buggy class he was fighting his way through the pack before an electronics gremlin knocked him out of the race with a DNF. Great job Drew and he earned our “Ironman” award for the week!
Finally, at this event they ran 1/10 off-road classes too and that’s what leads us to team driver Willie Scott. He competed in both the Mod 2wd and 4wd Buggy classes and he made both A Mains! In Mod 2wd he would start and finish in 3rd place and in Mod 4wd he started in the back of the pack and battled his way up to a 5th place finish! His tire selection in 2wd was Rips in the front and Sprinters in the rear while in 4wd it was Sprinters on all four corners. After he marshaled his races he had to leave so he had a buddy stand in for podium pics and then added some editing magic. Nice job team!
Now let’s head up to West Virginia to check in on JC driver Miss Bella. She competed at Tri-Cities RC Racing in Lavalette for the Triple Crown Series finale. She brought out the broom as it was a clean sweep for her in 3 classes! She took the TQ and win in 1/8 Electric Buggy and Truggy mains along with 1st overall in the 1/8 Electric Buggy and Truggy cash series! Her JC tires were on point as she made some changes throughout the race:
