Over the Labor Day weekend the JConcepts race team was still hard at work winning races around the world which you can read all about in this week’s Race Team Update!
Let’s start this week’s report down in Florida for the 2020 FORCE Series race #5 at Mills Pond in Fort Lauderdale.
In the 1/8 Pro Nitro Buggy class it was a clean sweep for the JConcepts race team! Taking the win was JC driver Lee Setser followed by Julien Oliveras (TQ) in 2nd and Jader Lopez in 3rd! All 3 drivers ran JConcepts tires, wheels, inserts, bodies, wings and accessories.
Team driver Tony Rivas was also racing at this event and he reports that he finished 2nd overall in 1/8 Electric Truggy! His Serpent SRX8TE was running strong on Blue compound Reflexes all day long. He was joined on the podium team mate Alfredo Morales in 3rd! And in the 1/8 40+ Electric Buggy class he would qualify and finish in 3rd place! For this ride he switched between Green, Blue and R2 compound Teazers throughout the day.
Also competing in that 1/8 40+ Electric Buggy class was team mate Dave Duncan. He would set the TQ during qualifying and would finish a close 2nd place. He said Green compound Teazers were dialed all day long!
Staying in Florida let’s now head to Strickland RC Raceway to get an update from team driver Bobby Smith who competed at the King of Clay race. He earns our “ironman award” of the week with the following performance:
- TQ & 1st in Electric Late Model
- TQ & 1st in Nitro Late Model
- 1st in Mod Sprint
- TQ & 1st in 1/8 Nitro Buggy
- 2nd in 1/8 Electric Buggy
He said Sprinters, Kosmos and Rehabs were the tires of his choice along with S15 bodies on both of his 1/8 vehicles. Great job Bobby!
Now let’s head up to Georgia to check in with JC driver Dave McEwen. He reports that he made the trip to Augusta this past weekend to race in Round 3 of the Georgia Off-Road Championship Series held at Augusta RC Supercross. In the Mod 2wd Buggy class he qualified in 2nd place overall while using Sprinters in the rear and Dirt Webs up front, both in the R2 compound. For the main he switched the Blue compound and after a bad start that dropped him back to 8th place he was able to fight his way back up to 3rd place! In the Mod 4wd Buggy class he set the TQ while running on JConcepts R2 compound Sprinters. For the mains he switched over to the Blue compound again and took the win! And in the 1/8 Electric Buggy class he used Detox tires in the Aqua compound for qualifying and started 3rd in the main event. Before the A Main he switched over to the Blue compound again and would finish 3rd overall!
Now let’s head West to Alabama to check out the racing action at RC3 in Huntsville. That is where we find team driver Randy Enger who raced in both the 1/8 Nitro and Electric Buggy classes and took the 2nd spot on the podium in both classes! He said both cars were running Blue compound Reflexes and joining him on the podium in the 1/8 Electric Buggy class was team mate Drew Williams!
Now let’s shoot over to Texas to check in with JConcepts driver Heath Lawson. He made the trip to Arlington for the grand opening of GoldStar Hobbies. He was able to TQ and take the win in the 17.5 2wd Buggy class while using Twin Pins and Swaggers along with a P2K body shell!
Also making the trip to GoldStar was team mate Rhett McNair who raced in the Mod 2wd and 4wd Buggy classes. In Mod 2wd he set the TQ and took the overall by winning in both A1 and A2! In Mod 4wd he qualified 4th for the mains and would finish 2nd overall after the AAAs were completed! Both cars were using the JConcepts Black Fin Titanium Turnbuckles, Mono wheels, Twin Pins, Swaggers, the Carpet | Astro High-Clearance Rear Wing and a S1 body for his wheeler and a P2K body for his 2wd car. Nice track debut team!
Now let’s head North to Oklahoma to check in with JC driver Shane Wheeler. He went to the recent club races at MOJO Hobby in Oklahoma City and reported that he TQed and won in the Open Sprint Class! His car was running fast on JConepts Green compound Sprinters in the rear and Ellipses up front.
Now let’s head up to Iowa to check in with JC driver Mike Sanders. He recently attended the local club racing at Hobby Haven in Urbandale. He competed in the 17.5 2wd Buggy class and took the win in the main while running the JConcepts Sprinters on all four corners mounted on 9 Shot wheels and his buggy was topped off with a P2 body. Joining him on the “tree podium” was team mate Drew Rubenking!
Now let’s head back East to Tennessee to visit Bullet Town R/C in Milan. That is where we find team driver Izriah Osborne who reports that he attended the club race there over the Labor Day weekend. He competed in the 1/8 Electric Buggy class and that class ran a special 50% payout. So he was happy to report that he took the TQ and win in the single 10 minute A Main! His Tekno ride was equipped with Blue compound Triple Dees.
Now let’s head further East to to Virginia to check in with team driver Miss Bella. She recently competed at the Summer Sizzler held at Scale Racing Sports Blue Ridge Nationals in Wytheville. She competed in both the 1/8 Pro Electric Buggy and 1/8 Electric Truggy classes. After qualifying wrapped up she started 2nd on the grid in the Truggy mains and 7th overall in the Pro Electric Buggy mains. After the AAs were ran she would finish 4th in Truggy and 7th in Buggy! Her vehicles were running fast on Blue and A2 compound Reflexes.
Now let’s check in with our overseas team starting with Brayden Johnston. He recently competed at Round 4 of the West Australian Interclub Series in both Mod 4wd and 1/8 Electric Buggy. He would set the TQ in both classes on the high grip astro turf track! In the AAA mains he would win both A1 and A2 to take the Mod 4wd win and in 1/8 Electric Buggy class a mechanical failure ended his run early in A1. He would battle the field in both A2 and A3 and end up 3rd overall. His wheeler used the JConcepts Nessi tires and he can’t wait for the next round which will be held on a clay surface.
Finally, JC driver Steve Seguin reports on his success at a special COVID race held at Bego Racing RC Raceway in Napierville, QC, Canada. He competed in both the 1/8 Electric Buggy and Truggy classes and would finish 6th overall in Truggy and took the win in Buggy! Both cars were equipped with Ellipse tires in the Gold compound.
