In this edition of the JConcepts Friday5 we talk to Kentucky team driver, Tad Goad!
1. How did you first hear about racing RC cars? And what classes did you compete in?
I first saw RC cars in magazines in the 80’s. My dad got me my first truck in 1986. I was just a backyard basher for years then I started racing stadium trucks.
2. Name a RC class that you would like to see increase in popularity and why? (And it doesn’t have your traditional race class too.)
I would like to see the Monster truck classes grow. They are bigger now than they have been in years so hopefully it keeps growing.
3. Nitro or Electric racing. If you had to eliminate one all together which one would it be and why?
I would eliminate nitro. I have never been a fan of nitro classes. They seem like they are a lot more work and they are always dirty.
4. Name one JConcepts product that you feel is overlooked by many but you find it very useful. It could be a tool, tread pattern, wing, etc.
One of my favorite tools is the combo thumb wrench. It is very handy. I like the compact size. Makes it very useful in tight spots.
5. Besides RC cars, what other hobbies are you into?
My other hobby is crewing for a pulling truck. We run a Super Modified 2wd Truck in the Lucas Oil Pro Pulling League. We normally have close to 20 events a year with the Champions Tour.
