This past Halloween weekend the JConcepts race team kept up their winning ways out on the track as they came away with treats and trophies once again! Read all about it in this fresh edition of the Race Team Update!
Let’s start this week’s race report in North Carolina in Lucama which is where World of R/C Parts & Thunder Alley R/C Speedway is located. This past weekend they held their Great Pumpkin race and we had some drivers in attendance so let’s see how they performed starting with team driver Dave McEwen. Fresh off competing at Masters of Dirt last weekend, he was back at it again and was trying to earn our coveted “Ironman” award as he competed in four classes! In the 17.5 2wd Buggy class he TQ and won while using Ellipses in the Silver compound! And joining him on the podium in 2nd place was team mate Luis Diego! In Mod 2wd Buggy class he would set the TQ and finish in 2nd while running on the same tire setup. In the 13.5 4wd Buggy class he took another TQ and win using the same winning tire combination. And finally in the Mod 4wd Buggy class he qualified 5th and ended up 4th for the day on the same tires. He also used a Carpet | Astro High-Clearance rear wing, F2 bodies and Fin Turnbuckle kits.
Also racing at this event was JC driver Mike Kling who competed in the Mod Stadium Truck and 17.5 2wd Buggy classes. He made the A Mains for both classes and finished 2nd in Stadium Truck and 6th in 17.5 2wd Buggy! He used Finnisher bodies on both vehicles and Silver compound Ellipses.
Now let’s fly up to Michigan and stop in at Grand River RC in Grandville. There we get an update from team driver Kyle Munson who competed at their recent Off-Road Halloween Spooktacular Race last Friday night. They had about 75 entries and he competed in the Stadium Truck class where he was able to take the TQ and win! He used our Ellipses in the Silver compound along with a Finnisher body.
Staying in state let’s now check in with JC driver Collin Miles who was competing at the 2020 Fright Night Halloween Race at the RC Clubhouse in Warren. He competed in three classes for that event: 17.5 2wd Buggy, 13.5 Stadium Truck and 13.5 4wd Buggy. He would take 2nd in 17.5 2wd Buggy, the TQ and win in 13.5 Stadium Truck and TQ and 2nd place in 13.5 4wd Buggy! He also walked away with $200 in cash and he said traction was high thanks to his Silver compound Ellipses and P2 bodies.
Now let’s go down to Missouri to SmacTrac in St. Charles and check on team driver Charles Day. He said he competed in 1/10 racing for the first time in a while and was able to set the TQ in Mod 2wd Buggy and finish 3rd for the race! He used our Ellipse tires in the rear, Dirt Webs in the front, along with a F2 body.
Now let’s go over to Kansas to get an update from team drivers Travis and Stevie Slover. They raced at opening day at Jake’s RC Pro AM in Topeka and Travis was able to TQ and win in the Expert 17.5 2wd Buggy class while using the following products:
- P2K body
- Carpet | Astro High-Clearance rear wing
- Twin Pins
- Swaggers
- Mono wheels
- Aluminum Steering Bellcranks
- Finnisher Aluminum Wing Buttons
Team mate Stevie Slover was also racing but in the 13.5 2wd SCT and Mod 2wd Buggy classes. In 13.5 2wd SCT he took the TQ and win and in Mod 2wd Buggy he set the TQ and finished 3rd overall! His vehicles were running the following JCon goodies:

- Swaggers
- Aluminum Steering Bellcranks
- Servo Mount Bracket
- Finnisher Aluminum Wing Buttons
Now let’s head to Nebraska and stop in Omaha which is the home to the HobbyTown USA HobbyPlex. There will find team driver Ashton Abdul who did some club racing with his new XRAY 1/8 Electric Buggy. He reports that he took second place while running on A2 compound Ellipses mounted to Bullet wheels!
Now let’s fly out west to San Diego, CA to SDRC Raceway. They recently held their Fright Night Race and let’s get an update from team drivers Austin and Rick Riley. Austin competed in the 4wd Buggy class and reported that he took the win with Ellipse tires!
And Rick competed in the 21.5 2wd Buggy class and set the TQ and finished 2nd overall while using Mono wheels and Ellipse tires!
Staying in state let’s check in with team driver Tanner Currier who was racing at Ricochet R/C Raceway in El Centro for their recent Halloween race. For the mains he qualified 3rd overall in Expert 17.5 2wd Buggy and set the TQ in Expert 13.5 4wd Buggy! After the mains were ran he would take 2nd overall in Expert 17.5 2wd Buggy and the win in Expert 13.5 4wd Buggy! He said his Swagger fronts and Nessi rears were dialed for the entire race.
Finally, away from the track team driver Robert Sorjonen is working on a new body for the upcoming season of NPRC. His new paint scheme is looking sharp on our 1955 Chevy Bel Air Drag Eliminator body!
