As the temperatures continue to drop outside the JConcepts race team continues to heat it up on the track! See where we were burning laps this past weekend in this week’s Race Team Update!
We start this week’s report in York, PA at Scale Speed’s indoor off-road carpet track. JConcepts driver Tom Petrella attended this newer facility for the first time and bumped up into the A Main for the 17.5 2wd Buggy class and would finish 5th overall! His Schumacher ride was running fast on Swaggers up front with Twin Pins in the rear.
Now we go down to Georgia looking for an update with team driver Cade Burnette. He was racing at the Loganville RC Complex in Loganville for their 3rd Annual Race For A Cause event. He competed in both the 1/8 Pro Nitro and Electric Buggy classes and took the TQ and win in the E Buggy class and qualified 2nd for the 25 minute nitro main and won that race too! Both of his winning cars used Gold compound Ellipses and the race was also able to raise enough donations to help out two different families that attended this event plus a few more that didn’t! Great job to everyone involved!!
Next let’s fly down to Florida to check on the team at the 2020 Winterfest Off-Road hosted at Newberry RC in Newberry. We had several drivers in attendance so let’s see how they did starting with team driver Chris VanRaemdonck.
He was gunning for our coveted “ironman” award as he competed in four classes with the following great results!
- 17.5 2wd Buggy = 3rd overall using Silver compound V2 Double Dees, Mono wheels and a P2 body
- 17.5 Short Course Truck = 1st overall using Green compound Double Dees and a Hi-Flow body
- 13.5 Stadium Truck = TQ and 1st overall using Green compound Double Dees in the rear, Sprinters in the front and a Finnisher body
- 13.5 4wd Buggy = 2nd overall using Silver compound V2 Double Dees, F2 body and a Carpet | Astro High-Clearance rear wing
Also competing at this race was teammate Jeremy Harris in the 17.5 2wd Buggy class. He would take the win using a combination of Sprinters, Flip Outs and Groovy tires along with a S2 body and a Fin Titanium Turnbuckle Set!
Staying in state let’s now check in with team driver Brian Miller who was running some dirt oval at Ron Jon’s Raceway in Brooksville. This was his 2nd oval race ever and he competed in the Wounded Warrior race this past Saturday. He reports that he finished 3rd in the C Main but had a blast, learned a lot and it was all for a good cause! His street stock chassis was loaded with the following JC widgets:

Now let’s head east into Alabama to get an update from team driver Danny Smith. He was in Helena at the Warehouse Hobby Raceway for their 9th Annual Toys For Tots event. He competed in the 1/8 Pro Nitro Buggy class and finished 3rd while running on Green compound Detox tires!
Now we shoot over to Texas to get a few updates from the team starting driver Hunter La Flower. He was in Garland competing at Indy RC World and reports that he took the win in the 1/8 Electric Buggy class while running on Blue compound Reflex tires!
Heading down to Houston we stop at Mike’s Hobby Shop to get an update from team driver Dillon Caldwell. He was competing in their Toys For Tots race and took 4th place while running on Silver compound Ellipse tires!
Heading up north into Oklahoma we get the following race update from team driver Braxten Culley. He recently club raced at Shifty’s RC Raceway in Tulsa and took the double win in the Mod 2wd and 4wd Buggy classes! He used Gold compound Dirt Webs on all four corners and his younger brother Jentsen won in the Novice class on Silver compound Ellipses too!
Continuing north into Kansas we stop in at Ultraline Hobbies RC Raceway in Topeka to get an update from JConcepts driver Stevie Slover. He attended the 3rd round of their Winter Points Series and took the double TQ and win in the Mod 2wd and 4wd Buggy classes! His winning rigs were loaded with JC goodness!

Now let’s head slightly back to the east into Illinois to get an update from JConcepts driver Ryan Mcclain who competing on carpet at the new CRC Hobbies track in East Peoria.
He qualified for the 4wd A Main and finished a solid 4th while running on Swaggers up front with Pin Downs in the rear!
Let’s cross the Mississippi river back into Iowa to check in with team driver Bradley Peterson. He was in Fort Dodge at IORC for some carpet off-road racing and finished 3rd in Expert Stock 2wd Buggy! He used our Swaggers up front, Nessi tires in the rear, a P2K body and the new Carpet | Astro High-Clearance 7″ Rear Wing.
Now we cross the Missouri river into Nebraska and stop in at Omaha which is home to the HobbyTown USA HobbyPlex (The Plex).
There we get an update from team driver Ethan Delair who competed in Round 7 of their 2020 Carpet Off-Road Syndicate at the Plex Series. He finished 2nd in Mod 2wd and 1st in Mod 4wd! Both of his bugs used the following JC gear:

Let’s now fly out west to California to get an update from the team at the final round of the JBRL hosted by Coyote Hobbies in Victorville. Starting with team driver Mike Sorchy he reports that he finished 5th in the series for the 13.5 Stadium Truck class, 6th in Expert 13.5 4wd Buggy and 7th in Expert 17.5 2wd Buggy! All of his cars were hooked up running on sanded down Silver compound Ellipses, a Finnisher body on his truck, Carpet | Astro High-Clearance rear wings on both buggies, a S2 body on his 2wd and a F2 body on his wheeler.
The Raymond family also checks in to let us know how they wrapped up the series. Starting with Chase Raymond, he finished 2nd in 17.5 2wd Buggy and Stadium Truck and took 1st place in 21.5 2wd Buggy! He used F2 bodies, Carpet | Astro High-Clearance rear wings and also sanded down Silver compound Ellipses.
His brother Levi took 1st place in 17.5 2wd Buggy, 2nd in 13.5 4wd Buggy and the overall title for Sportsman 13.5 4wd Buggy! He also used F2 bodies, Carpet | Astro High-Clearance rear wings and Silver compound Ellipses.
Finally, let’s head down to Australia to get an update from the team. Team driver Lachlan Munday reports that he went to Victoria for the Victorian Drivers Series race at Shepparton. This large outdoor track was challenging along with the hot, windy summer weather but that didn’t stop him from taking the victory in Victoria as he double-downed with two TQs and wins in both Mod 2wd and 4wd Buggy! For his 2wd he used Green compound Sprinters with a P2 body, new Carpet | Astro High-Clearance 7″ Rear Wing and a Front Wing to keep the nose down in the wind. His wheeler used the F2 body, a Carpet | Astro High-Clearance 6.5″ Rear Wing and a Fin Titanium Turnbuckle Set.
