In this edition of the JConcepts Friday5 we talk to Florida team driver, AJ Zale!
1. When and how did you get started in RC? And what class do you compete in or did you primarily bash your vehicles?
I got started in R/C when my parents got me a Slash for Christmas when I was around 12. I got fully into racing about 3 years ago when I moved down to Florida for school.
2. In your opinion, what classes have you noticed that seem to be in a decline? And how would you try to resolve this so there is more participation?
From what I’ve seen the Short Course classes are all on a decline. I think the best way to see the class come back up is for more Pro’s to enter the class. I’d also like to see it offered at more big events.
3. From your experience what is the easiest AND hardest maintenance task on your RC cars?
Anything with shocks I try to avoid as long as possible lol. Honestly, I really enjoy everything except shocks.
4. When it comes to new products released from JConcepts, what are you most excited to see and why? Is it a new body, new tire, new accessory, etc.?
I’m most excited to hopefully see another run of the Carbon Setting Boards. I really regret not getting one when they first came out!
5. You are obviously highly skilled when it comes to RC cars, but what is one skill or hidden talent that folks might be surprised to find out about you?
Honestly, R/C is one of the few things I’m good at lol. Besides that, I have raced Go-Karts on a national level for about 10 years.
