Last weekend was the official kickoff to the 2021 Super Cup Championship Series. Hosted by Beachline Raceway in Cocoa, FL there were 140 entries competing in 7 different classes.
For this year’s series there is a total of 8 events that are split into two sessions which have four races each. For each session your best three results are used to calculate your session’s points for each class you compete in.
Using this format this allows some flexibility for drivers to work in racing around their busy schedules plus drop their worst results from any of these event stops.
The Beachline team put in another fun and fast flowing layout on their enormous indoor carpet track and race director Dave Duncan kept the event running smooth behind the mic.
Practice ran on Friday and then on Saturday two rounds of qualifying began. Each qualifier lasted only five minutes and only your best run between the two counted towards your final qualifying position in each class you ran.
The top two finishers in a lower main would automatically transfer up to the next highest main so that also kept the lower mains exciting as racers had one last shot to try and make the A mains.
We had large number of drivers in attendance and their hard work paid off as we were able to pick up several wins that weekend! Let’s see how the team performed starting with the most prestigious class, Mod 2wd Buggy.
In qualifying JConcepts driver Julien Oliveras dominated as he ran the fastest times in both rounds. He started on the pole and would lead for most of the race to take the wire to wire win! Joining him on the podium in 2nd was team mate Jeremy Harris!

In the Mod 4wd Buggy class, Julien would set the fastest time in qualifying in round 1 and in round 2 team mate Brett Kingsbury would lay down the fastest laps. But Julien’s round 1 time was fastest so he started 1st on the grid for the 7 minute A Main. He drove mistake free and put a victory lap on the entire field! Joining him on the podium were JConcepts drivers JR Mitch (2nd ) and Brett (3rd) for a JConcepts sweep!
