A new year is upon us but on the track it is the same old results as the JConcepts team continues to dominate once again! Read where we are already winning at in this week’s Race Team Update!
We start this week’s race report down in sunny Lake City, FL at Southside Raceway for their end of the year shootout event. Originally this was scheduled to be a three day event but due to bad weather coming in on Sunday a full race program was run on Saturday instead. This was also the finale for the FORCE Series points program so many individual series class titles were on the line as well. We had several familiar team drivers in attendance along with some of our newest team members making their 2021 debut, so let’s see how they performed.
Starting with the 1/8 Pro Nitro Buggy class, new Pro JConcepts driver Joe Bornhorst made his triumphant debut for the team by taking the TQ and win! He used a S15 body, Green compound Reflex tires mounted on Mono wheels and Dirt Tech inserts. Joining him on the podium in 2nd place was his new teammate Julien Oliveras!
In the 1/8 Pro Electric Buggy class Julien would set the TQ after three rounds of qualifying, but after two 8 minute AA mains it would be Joe coming out on top with Julien once again in 2nd! Joe used a Tekno kit stock body along with the same winning tire and wheel combination.
In the 40+ 1/8 Nitro Buggy class JC driver Carl Lebo started 4th for the 25 minute A Main but would go on to take the win! He reports that he used Green compound Rehabs and a Silencer body. Joining him on the podium in 2nd was teammate Luiz Perez!
Carl doubled down on wins in the 40+ 1/8 Electric Buggy class too using the same winning race gear! Joining him on the podium was teammates Carlos España in 2nd (also the TQ) and Dave Duncan in 3rd to complete the JConcepts podium sweep!
And with his 3rd place finish Dave would also capture the overall class title for the 2020 Force Series too!
Now we head up the coast to North Carolina and stop in at the city of Lucama which is the home of World of RC parts/Thunder Alley. They recently held race #2 of their Super 7 Winter Series and we had many drivers in attendance so let’s see how they performed.
Team driver Justin Doyle checks in to report he took 4th overall in 17.5 2wd Buggy and the win in the 13.5 4wd Buggy class while running fast on Silver compound Ellipses!
Teammate Luis Diego competed in both the 4wd Short Course Truck and Mini Truggy classes and took the double TQ and win in both! His 4wd SCT used Black compound Octagons while his Mini Truggy used the same tire but in the Silver compound option.
JC driver Josh Parrish also competed in three classes, 17.5 and Mod 2wd Buggy along with 13.5 4wd Buggy. He would take the TQ and 2nd in 13.5 wheeler, TQ and win in 17.5 2wd and 1st overall in Mod 2wd! His buggies were all on rails that weekend thanks to our Silver compound Ellipses.
Heading further north into Pennsylvania we stop in at Scale Speed located in York. There we find team driver Mark Unrath who recently attended their 1st Annual Hangover Race. There were 113 entries in total and he would finish 7th overall in 17.5 2wd Buggy and 2nd overall in 13.5 4wd Buggy! His 13.5 wheeler used Swaggers up front with Twin Pins in the rear.
Now we head over to Enfield, CT to visit the team who was competing at RC Madness for their New Year’s Day race. JC driver Eric Bresnahan competed in both the Mod 2wd SCT and Stadium Truck classes and would end up 5th in Truck and took the TQ and win in SCT! His winning SCT used a HF2 SCT body, Swaggers up front and Pin Downs in the rear.
His JC mate Brent Sianez was also competing at this event and took the W in the Mod Wheeler class and 2nd overall in Mod 2wd!
Also competing at this event was team driver Tom Bishop. He competed in the 17.5 2wd Buggy class and was able to take the TQ and win while running on Nessi and Swagger tires along with a S2 body and a Carpet | Astro High-Clearance Rear Wing!
Now we head back west to Livonia, MI to check out the action at Dirt Burner Hobbies and Raceway. Team driver Chris Rothwell competed at their TNN event and competed in both the 17.5 and Mod 2wd Buggy classes. He would qualify 3rd in both classes, finish 3rd in Mod and take the win in 17.5! He used sanded down Silver compound Ellipses on all four corners along with F2 bodies.
Next, let’s hop over Lake Michigan and stop in at Dirt Heaven Hobby and Raceway located in New Franken, WI.
Our driver Ryan Derenne recently competed at their Winter Series race and finished 3rd in Mod Stadium Truck while using our Finnisher body and slicked out Silver compound Ellipses! In the 40+ Super Stock 2wd Buggy class he would just miss the transfer spot to the A Main while using the same tires and a P2 body. And in the Mod 4wd Buggy class he would end up 4th in the B Main using the same tires and a S2 body.
Staying in state let’s now go to New Richmond to visit the Toy Box R/C Track to check in on the team. Starting with JC driver Joe Scaramell he reports that he finished 2nd overall in the 17.5 2wd Buggy class running on Silver compound Ellipses. Joining him on the podium in 1st place with the TQ and win was teammate Randy Enger! Randy would also race in the 13.5 4wd Buggy class and start 3rd but finish on top of the podium to earn the double W (say that 10 times real fast) for the weekend! Both vehicles used Silver compound Ellipses and Finnisher bodies.
Now we head down to Indiana to Bill’s RC in Marion to get this update from JC driver Adam Rayls.
He competed at two different club races this past week and took the TQ and win in both the 17.5 2wd Buggy and 13.5 Stadium Truck classes! He used Gold compound Ellipses mounted to Mono wheels.
Now we kick it down to Pike County, Kentucky to stop in at 23RC Raceway. Team driver Blake Brewer recently attended their New Year’s race and set the double TQ in the 17.5 and Mod 2wd Buggy classes and finished 2nd in 17.5 and 1st overall in Mod! He used the winning combination of Swaggers and Nessi tires.
Dipping down into Knoxville, TN next we check in with JC driver Miss Bella.
She was at ROCCK Racing for their recent Disco Brawl race and finished 2nd overall in the 1/8 Electric Truggy class while running on Blue compound Ellipse tires and a Finnisher body!
Also competing at this race was JConcepts teammate Bobby Smith. He competed in the 1/8 40+ Nitro Buggy class and captured 2nd overall while using Silver compound Ellipse tires, a S15 body and a F2I wing!
JC driver Tyler Jones was also in attendance and reports that he took the TQ and win in the 1/8 Electric Buggy class and the TQ and 3rd place for 1/8 Nitro Buggy! He said that Silver compound Ellipses were money for the event.
Heading further south into Alabama, we stop in at Helena which is home to Warehouse Hobby Raceway. Our driver Danny Smith took 2nd place in the 1/8 Pro Electric Buggy class and joining him on the podium in 1st was fellow JC driver Jeremy Reid! Danny reports he used slicked out Green compound Ellipses for the race.
Now we visit GS Hobbies in Barling, AR to get a race update from team driver Rhett McNair. He recently competed in their 2021 Hangover event and finished 3rd overall in the Mod 2wd Buggy class while using a S2 body, Swagger fronts and Nessi rears!
Heading north into Missouri we stop at Fastlane Raceway in Blue Springs to get this race update from team driver Joe Duffy. He competed at their 2021 Kickoff event and took 1st place in Mod 2wd Buggy while running on Gold compound Dirt Webs!
Now we go to Omaha, NE which is home to the HobbyTown USA HobbyPlex (The Plex). They recently wrapped up their Carpet Syndicate Off-Road Series and after the points were added up team drivers Ethan Delair finished 2nd in Mod 2wd Buggy with Tom Rinderknecht in 1st! Ethan reports that he used a F2 body, a Carpet | Astro High-Clearance Rear Wing, Swaggers up front and Twin Pins in the rear.
Now we shoot down to Porter, TX to visit Mike’s Gulf Coast RC Raceway. They were the host of Round 2 of the HARC series and we had many drivers there so let’s see how they did. Team driver Phi-Long Nguyen reports that he finished 2nd overall in the 1/8 open Nitro Buggy class while running a S15 body and Ellipses in both the Blue and Gold compounds! Joining him on the podium were teammates Robbie Darby (3rd), Dillon Caldwell (4th) and Mark Morrow (5th)!
In the combined Open 1/8 Nitro and Electric Truggy class our driver Louis Boucher finished a solid 4th overall while running on Blue compound Reflex tires!
Staying in state we now go to Arlington which is where GoldStar Hobbies and Raceway is located. Our driver Gary Guffey Jr. recently competed at their Series race and finished 3rd overall in Mod 2wd Buggy while using Swaggers up front with Twin Pins in the rear!
Finally, we head west to Albuquerque, NM to Inside Line to get this report from team driver Damian Lopez. He competed in the 17.5 2wd Buggy class and took the TQ and win! He used a F2 lid and Gold compound Octagons.
