The second weekend of racing for 2021 is now complete and the JConcepts team keeps on winning which you can read about in this week’s Race Team Update!
We start this week’s race report in Hutchinson, KS at HI Performance Hobbies. They recently held their annual Salt City Challenge and we had several drivers in attendance so let’s see how they performed.
Starting with JC driver Riley Filbert he reports that he competed in the Mod 2wd Buggy class and qualified 10th for the AAA mains. After they were ran he finished a solid 7th place while running on Dirt Webs up front, Ellipses in the rear, a F2 body, Fin Titanium Turnbuckles and a Carpet | Astro High-Clearance Rear Wing!
Team mate Tyler Keel also competed at this event and it was his first off-road event in over a year. He competed in both the Mod 2wd and 4wd Buggy classes and would just miss out making the AAA mains. Still both of his cars were running great on Silver compound Ellipses, Dirt Tech inserts and F2 bodies.
Also competing at this race was JC driver Ken Peterson. He competed in 3 classes and made the AAA mains for all three!
- 5th in Expert 17.5 2wd Buggy on Gold compound Ellipses sanded down to slicks
- 6th in 13.5 4wd Buggy on Silver compound Ellipses sanded down to slicks
- 8th in Mod 2wd buggy on Gold compound Ellipses sanded down to slicks
His two sons also got some racing in and finished 1st and 2nd overall in the Novice class! They both ran Gold compound Dirt Webs up front and Ellipses in the rear and looks like the entire family had a great time!
Now we head north to Omaha, NE which is home to the HobbyTown USA HobbyPlex (The Plex). This past weekend they ran the 3rd Round of their Winter Series and let’s get an update from the team starting with JConcepts driver Mason Fuller. He competed in both the Expert 1/8 Nitro and Electric Buggy classes and TQed all rounds of qualifying for that day! He would then go on to win both mains that night to take the double victory! His nitro ride was using Gold compound Ellipse tires while his E Buggy used Gold compound Dirt Webs.
Joining him on the Expert 1/8 Electric Buggy podium in 3rd place was team mate Ashton Abdul! He competed in the same two classes and just missed out making the podium in Expert 1/8 Nitro Buggy as well. He said his buggies were hooked while running Gold Bar Codes mounted to Bullet wheels.
Race director and JConcepts driver Alex Sturgeon also made the winner’s circle that weekend. He competed in the Mini Truggy class and took the TQ and win while running on Gold compound Ellipse tires!
JC driver Bradley Peterson also competed in the Expert 1/8 Nitro Buggy class and finished a solid 7th place after 30 minutes. He used Silver compound Ellipses for qualifying and the main along with a S15 body!
Now we head over the Missouri river into Iowa to check out the racing action at Bad Fast Hobbies in Sioux City. There we find team driver Brandon Kearney who recently did a little bit of club racing there. He ran in both the Mod 2wd and 4wd Buggy classes and took the TQ and 2nd in Mod 2wd and finished 4th in Mod 4wd! He used the following JC goodness on both cars:

Now we head south to Blue Springs, MO which is home to Fastlane Raceway. Team driver Orlando Martinez ran some club racing there recently and reported that he took 3rd in 13.5 4wd Buggy and 5th in 17.5 2wd Buggy! Both rides used a F2 body, Ellipse and Dirt Webs tires and Mono wheels.
Bouncing over to Indiana we land in Granger which is home to RC Fun Park.
Our driver Chris Rothwell went there last Saturday for some clubbin’ and finished 2nd overall in both the 17.5 2wd and 13.5 4wd Buggy classes! He said both vehicles used sanded down Silver compound Ellipses.
Continuing east into Ohio we get this race update from team driver Curtis May. He was club racing recently at En Raceway & Elite Hobbies in Columbus took the TQ and win in 17.5 2wd Buggy class while running on Swaggers and Twin Pins tires!
Now we head down to Georgia to check in with the team who recently competed at Round 1 of the SNAP HARD Racing League. This was held at the HobbyTown Columbus in the city of Columbus and team driver Chris VanRaemdonck reports that he competed in four classes: Mod 2wd Buggy, Mod 4wd Buggy, Mod Stadium Truck and 2wd SCT. He was able to take the TQ and WIN in ALL of these classes while running Aqua compound Ellipses sanded down to slicks!
Joining him on the Mod Stadium Truck podium in 2nd was team mate Jason Westfall! He reports that he used Silver compound Ellipses and a Finnisher body.
Finally, we wrap things up for this week by flying out west to Sacramento, CA to get this team update from driver Joseph Levin. He recently attended LSR Speedway for some club racing and took the TQ and win in the Expert 13.5 4wd Buggy class while running on Silver compound Ellipses, Mono wheels and a F2 body!
