Last weekend was another busy one for the JConcepts team as we competed in many events around the globe. See where in the world we were winning at in this week’s Race Team Update!
We start this week’s race report in Tulsa, OK for the 2021 RC Chili Bowl. This annual left turn race brings out the best Oval racers in the nation and this year’s event was no different as they saw 354 entries spread out over 8 classes. Let’s get an update from the team on how they performed starting with driver Jeremy Cathlina.
He reports that he competed in three classes at this race: Late Model, Outlaw Sprint and Wingless Sprint. Normally he races 1/10 electric off-road so he is happy with his results in both Late Model (20) and Outlaw Sprint (26) but he was even more happy with his results in the Wingless Sprint class as he took home 3rd overall!
Also competing at this event was teammate Shane Wheeler. He competed in three classes and would finish 13th in Midwest Mod, 36th in Late Model and 10th in Masters Sprint!
JC driver Noel Cerda competed in the Short Course Modified class and finished 6th in the main while running on black Hazzard wheels and used our Aluminum Steering Rack and Steering Bellcranks!
JConcepts driver Robert Chapman competed in the following classes: Outlaw Sprint, Midwest Mod and Wingless Sprint. At the end of the event he would finish 6th in the C Main in Outlaw Sprint, 7th in the Midwest Mod A Main, and 2nd overall in the Wingless Sprint A Main!
And our final report from here comes courtesy of young JConcepts driver Nate Sutherland. This was his first Chili Bowl race and he made the A in the Late Model class and finished 5th overall!
Now let’s head southeast into Florida for an update from JC driver Bobby Smith. He recently competed at High Fly Hobbies in South Daytona and did some oval racing himself. He competed in the Mod Sprint class and finished 2nd overall while running on a combination of Sprinters, Ellipses and Bar Codes along with 9 Shot wheels and an Aluminum Steering Rack!
Staying in the state let’s talk to another Florida man, JC driver Dave Duncan. He competed last weekend at All Out RC in Apopka and took 2nd overall in 1/8 Electric Buggy!
Heading up the coast into North Carolina we find JC driver Josh Parrish who just competed at Round 3 of the Super 7 Series hosted by Thunder Alley RC Speedway in Lucama. This round saw 96 entries and he was able to podium in three classes!
- 17.5 2wd Buggy – 3rd
- 13.5 4wd Buggy – TQ’d and 1st
- Mod 2wd Buggy – TQ’d and 3rd
Heading further north into Bloomsburg, PA we stop in at Fairgrounds RC Raceway. Our driver Tim Rothenberger raced there recently and finished 5th in the Mod Sprint class! He used our Ellipse tires in the Green compound on all four corners.
Staying in Pennsylvania we now get the following report from JConcepts driver Mark Unrath. He went club racing at Scale Speed located in York and TQ’d and finished 2nd in the 17.5 2wd Buggy class! He used our Mono wheels mounted to Swaggers and Twin Pins.
Now we head northeast to Fitchburg, MA where RC Excitement is located. Team driver Matt Perault reports that he attended their 16th Annual Snowball event and he took the TQ and win in both the Mod 2wd and 40+ Mod 2wd Buggy classes! His car was hooked up running on Green compound Ellipses that were sanded down and all on Mono wheels along with a F2 body and an Aero wing package.
Now let’s fly east into Michigan to get this update from team driver Russ Bryant. He recently raced at RC ONE Racing in Township for their East vs West Championship Series and took the TQ and win the 13.5 2wd Short Course Truck class! He ran on Silver compound Ellipses and used a Hi-Flow SCT body.
Also competing at this series race was teammate Kevin Morales. He competed in two classes and took 7th in Mod 2wd Buggy and 3rd place in Mod 4wd Buggy!
Now we turn south into Ohio to get an update from team driver Jeremy Whiting who was in Jeffersonville competing at the 2021 CRCRC 1/8 Winter MidWest Champ hosted by The Ohio RC Factory. He competed in the 1/8 Open Nitro Truggy class and finished 2nd overall in the 30 minute main while running on Gold compound Ellipse tires!
Bouncing west into Indiana we roll up to RC Fun Park located in Granger.
Our driver Chris Rothwell competed in the 17.5 2wd Buggy class and qualified 2nd for the main and took the win! He used a P2 body along with sanded down Silver Ellipse tires.
Heading further west into Illinois we check out the racing action at Alpha RC Raceways in Carbondale. They recently ran Round 2 of their Carpet Series and our driver Ryan Mcclain competed in the Mod 4wd Buggy class and finished a solid 8th place while running on Swaggers and Twin Pins!
Now we cross over into Missouri to get a few race reports from Stevie Slover. On Saturday he went to Blue Springs to compete at some dirt off-road club racing at Fastlane Raceway. He finished 3rd in Mod 2wd Buggy and 4th in Mod 4wd Buggy! Then on Sunday he went to Topeka, KS to compete on the black ozite track surface at Jake’s RC Pro Am. He TQ’d all rounds of qualifying in both the Mod 2wd Buggy and 13.5 SCT classes and went on to take the double wins in the mains! His buggy was equipped with a S2 body, a Carpet | Astro High-Clearance Rear Wing, Twin Pins in the rear and Swaggers up front. His SCT used a Hi-Flow SCT body and Swaggers in the front and Pin Downs in the back.
Let’s next fly out to St Antioch, CA which is home to Delta RC Hobbies. They just ran Round 2 of their Electric Winter Series and team driver Derek Stephansen said he grabbed the TQ and win in the Expert 17.5 2wd Buggy class! He used Green compound Ellipses in both the front and the rear along with a P2 body and a Carpet | Astro High-Clearance 7″ Rear Wing.
Now let’s get an update from our international team starting with team driver Lachlan Munday. It is summer time in Australia which means outdoor nitro racing is in full effect so he recently competed at his first 1/8 nitro race at the Sunshine track in Melbourne. For the 1/8 Nitro Buggy class in qualifying he ran Green compound Reflex tires and switched to Blue compound Kosmos tires for the finals. After the main was ran he finished 2nd overall using those tires along with a F2I rear wing and a RC8B3 Front Scoop!
Also racing at this track was fellow JC mate Andrew Selvaggi. He competed in the 1/8 Electric Buggy class and took the TQ and win while also running on Blue compound Kosmos tires!
Finally, team driver Lachlan Donnelly reports that he went to Hills Off Road RC in New South Wales, Australia for their first race of the year. He took the double TQ and win in both the Mod 2wd and 4wd Buggy classes while running on Blue compound Spirnters, P2 bodies and Carpet | Astro High-Clearance 7″ Rear Wings!
