Race Team Update – February 2021 Week #1

The first month of racing in 2021 is now complete and the JConcepts race team is off to another great start as we continue to take wins around the world! Please read this week’s Race Team Update to catch up on our winning ways!

We start this week’s report down in sunny Florida where we had numerous drivers competing at different RC events throughout the state. Starting with team driver Jader Lopez he was in Coral Springs competing at a recent event held at the Coral Springs RC Track.

They were the host to the first round of the Mayhem III Series and he took the TQ and win in the Pro 1/8 Electric Buggy class!

Heading north we get this update from team driver Dustin Spallone. He recently competed in the All Star Monster Truck Tour Event in Brooksville. His Axial SMT10 was using the JConcepts Blue compound JCT Monster Truck Tires glued to Tribute wheels along with Tribute Wheel Mock Beadlock Rings. His Traxxas Stampede was sporting the Blue compound Renegade Jr. 2.2 tires glued to Midwest 2.2″ wheels. He said the the Blue compound tires carved through the Florida red clay with ease!

Heading further north we stop in at Triple Nickel Raceway in Bartow. Team driver Trent Walker recently club raced there and finished 3rd in the Expert 1/8 Nitro Buggy class while on R2 compound Reflexes. Joining him on the podium in 2nd place was teammate Julien Oliveras!

Heading northeast to Crestview we get this update from JC driver Justin Cranford. He recently attended B&T RC Raceway and took the TQ and win in the 1/8 Electric Buggy class while running on Green and Black compound Reflex tires! He also settled the long standing question of who is faster, UPS or FedEx. 🙂

Now let’s go back northeast into North Carolina and stop in at Badlands RC Supercross in Myrtle Beach. JConcepts driver Wes Cowick recently club raced there and took 3rd place in the 1/8 Electric Buggy class and finished 1st in the 1/8 Nitro Buggy class! Both cars ran fast on Green compound Reflex tires, Bullet wheels, and S15 shells.

Also racing there was teammate Ken Rand Jr. who took the TQ and win in the 1/8 Electric Buggy class while using Green compound LiL Chasers! Joining him on the podium were teammates David Olsen (2nd) and Wes Cowick (3rd) to complete the podium sweep for the JC team!

Speaking of David, he also competed in the 1/8 Truggy class class and took the win in the 10 minute main! He ran Green compound Reflex tires on his trug along with a F2I wing. And his E bug ran a S15 body, F2I wing and Green compound Stalkers.

Now let’s cut over to the Bluegrass State and get this race update from JC driver Miss Bella. She competed at the final event of the DCRC (Dixon’s RC Raceway) Cash Series in Hazard, KY and competed in both the 1/8 Electric Buggy and Truggy classes. After some intense mains were ran she took 7th in E Buggy and 4th in the E Truggy.

After the points were calculated for the entire series she took 2nd overall in the E Buggy class and 1st in the E Truggy class! For the finals she ran Gold compound Ellipse tires on both vehicles and switched to the Green compound for both mains. She also used Dirt-Tech inserts, Bullets rims and Finnisher and S15 bodies.

Heading north into the Buckeye State we roll up to EN Hobbies in Columbus. Team driver Curtis May recently competed on their carpet off-road track and set the TQ and finished 2nd overall in the 17.5 2wd Buggy class! He said the JConcepts Swaggers and Nessi tires were dialed the entire race night.

Bouncing over to the Hoosier State we stop in Granger where RC Fun Park and Hobbies is located. They recently held their 2021 Coliseum Classic with nearly 170 entries so let’s see how the team performed starting with Kyle Munson.

He competed in both the Stadium Truck and Mod 2wd SCT classes and finished 2nd in Stadium Truck and took the TQ and win in the SCT class! He used the following JC gear on his trucks:

Stadium Truck

Also competing at this event was teammate Chris Rothwell in three classes: 13.5 4wd Buggy, 17.5 2wd Buggy and Stadium Truck. In the 13.5 wheeler class he would finish 3rd overall, he secured another 3rd place in the 17.5 2wd class and took the win in Stadium Truck! His rides were decked out in a ton of JC goodies:

Leaping over to the Land of Lincoln we stop in at PT’s RC Raceway in Bloomington, IL. There we find team driver Travis Chance who reports that he took the win in the Sprint class while running on Sprinters mounted to Mono wheels!

Sending it southeast into the Show-Me State we stop in Blue Springs where Fastlane Raceway is located. Our driver Orlando Martinez recently attended the 3rd round of their Winter Series and finished 2nd in the 13.5 4wd Buggy class and took the TQ and win in the 17.5 2wd Buggy class! He ran Gold Dirt Webs up front, Ellipses in the rear, Mono wheels and F2 bodies.

Dipping south into Arkansas we get this team update from driver Drew Spurgeon. He was in Jonesboro where FORC Raceway is located and recently club raced there. He competed in both the Stadium Truck and 4wd Buggy classes and finished 4th in 4wd and lapped the entire field in Truck for the win! He used Gold compound Ellipses on his buggy and for his truck he ran Silver compound Ellipses.

Now let’s go even further south into Louisiana and visit SCR Raceway in Destrehan. Team driver Louis Boucher reports that he competed in the 1/8 Electric Buggy class and finished 3rd on the podium while running Blue compound Reflex tires! Finishing 2nd on the podium was teammate Phi Long Nguyen and taking the win to complete the JC sweep was teammate Cameron Breaux!

Turning west into Texas let’s get a few updates from the team competing at several events throughout the state. Starting with driver Dillon Caldwell he was in Hutto competing at Round 1 of the 2021 Thornhill Championship Series. He raced in the Pro 1/8 Nitro Buggy class and would finish 4th for the day!

Next, JC driver Robert Chapman reports on his results from the inaugural 2021 Brisket Bowl RC Dirt Oval Challenge at 4Way Speedway in Abilene. He competed in the Outlaw Sprint, Midwest Modified and Wingless Sprint classes and finished 3rd in Outlaw Sprint and 2nd in both the Wingless and Midwest classes! His cars ran fast on Green compound Dirt Web fronts, Ellipse rears and 9-Shot wheels.

Also racing at this event was JC mate Noel Cerda who competed in the Open Latemodel and SC mod classes. In the Latemodel class he would set the TQ and finish 2nd while running Green compound Ellipses on all four corners mounted to 9-Shot wheels along with B6.x Aluminum Steering Bellcranks! And in the SC Mod class he would qualify and finish 2nd with the same tire combo but this time mounted to Hazard wheels! Joining him on the SC Mod podium in 3rd place was teammate Kevin Lenderman! Noel also reports that both vehicles used the B6.x Aluminum Steering Bellcranks and Rack as well.

Next, let’s get another Dirt Oval update from team driver Tyler Keel who was in Oklahoma City, OK at Mojo Hobby. He competed in the Outlaw Sprint class and would set the TQ and finish 2nd while running Green compound Dirt Webs and Ellipse tires!

Heading out west we stop at Eaton’s Intermountain RC Raceway in Salt Lake City, UT. Team driver Brady Anderson recently competed at a large club race with an outstanding 138 entries! He ran in three classes and took 9th in Expert 17.5 2wd Buggy, 8th in 13.5 4wd Buggy, and 1st overall in Stadium Truck! All of his cars uses Silver compound Ellipses.

Heading further west let’s get a few updates from the California race team starting with Jeremy Tooker. He was in San Diego for a Back Yard Boogie cash race and made the finals in the Outlaw class. He wouldn’t take home the money that day but he was happy to make the finals while competing in a class of 33 drag cars! He said his car was running fast with the following gear:

Now we travel to Delta RC Hobbies & Race Park in St. Antioch to get this report from team driver Derek Stephansen. He was competing at their recent Round 3 of the Delta Electric Winter Series and took the wins in the Expert 17.5 2wd Buggy, 13.5 4wd Buggy and Stadium Truck classes! All three vehicles ran Ellipses tires on all four corners but he opted to used the Green compound up front, Black in the back and on his buggies he used the new Carpet | Astro High-Clearance 7″ Rear Wing.

Next, let’s get a few updates from our team down in Australia starting with JC driver Jordan Isergin.

His home track is the Keilor Electric Off-Road Car Association club in Melbourne and they just held their first club race where he took the double TQ and win in both the Mod 2wd and 4wd Buggy classes! Both bugs used the following gear:

  • Carpet | Astro High-Clearance 6.5″ Rear Wing on the 4wd buggy

Finally, let’s get this combined team report from teammates Lachlan Donnelly and Jarod Ment. They and two other drivers competed in a four driver team 5 hour enduro event and used Lachlan’s B6.2D fitted with the following gear:
