This past weekend NewRed Hobbies in Ocala, FL was host to Round 3 of the 2021 Spring Super Cup. The event kicked off Friday with open practice from 11am to 8pm that night.
On Saturday the gates opened up bright and early at 6:30am followed by last chance registration and open practice from 7 till 8am. The track then closed for some maintenance before opening up again at 8:30 for two minute practice heats. After a brief driver’s meeting at 9:30am round 1 of qualifying began at 10am.
There were a combined 149 entries spread out over 9 different classes. There were two rounds of qualifying for each class and they were five minutes long each. To set the TQ for the weekend in any class only your best run counted towards your final qualifying position.
The top eight were locked into the single seven minute A Main and two more drivers were added as bump ups from the B Main for a total of 10 cars. Let’s see how the team performed in the most competitive classes starting with 17.5 2wd Stock Buggy.
This was the largest class of the weekend with 45 entries! Team driver Kenny Setser was able to set the TQ for the weekend with the only 17 lap run in this class during round one of qualifying! When the tone sounded unfortunately he got off to a bad start which allowed teammate AJ Marasco to jump out into the lead. Kenny would chase him in 2nd place but after the racing was complete it was AJ taking the win! Kenny would finish 2nd and rounding off the podium to complete the JConcepts sweep was teammate Alesio Coffaro!

Then he took back the lead for good on the 19th lap to secure the victory! Completing another podium sweep for the JConcepts team was Alesio Coffaro in 2nd and Justin Sherman in 3rd!
