The JConcepts race team stays red hot as February comes to an end. Read where we won this past weekend in this new edition of the Race Team Update!
We start this week’s report down in Savannah, GA at Phil Hurd Raceway for their 2021 Colonel’s Winter Classic. There were 13 classes to compete in and they saw 220 entries for the event. We had several drivers in attendance so let’s see how the team did starting with JConcepts driver Patrick Rossiter Jr.
He competed in the 1/8 Pro Electric Buggy class and TQed all three rounds of qualifying! In the AA mains he would win A1 with the fastest time which ended up being a tie breaker to give him the win for the weekend! He used the following JC gear:
- R2 compound Reflex
- Bullet wheels
- Dirt-Tech foams
- S15 body
- F2I wing
His teammate Cade Burnette was also at this race competing in the 1/8 Pro Nitro Buggy and Truggy classes. In buggy he qualified 2nd overall for the 30 minute A Main and had a few bad breaks with two flame outs, but he was still able to put down some fast laps and finished 4th overall! For the long main he ran Y2 compound Blockers with a Strike 2 body, and a F2I wing. In Truggy he would qualify 8th for the 25 minute main and would move all the way up to 3rd place! He used R2 compound Reflex tires, a Finnisher body and a F2I wing. Joining him on the truggy podium were teammates Wes Cowick (2nd) and Bryan Kata (5th)!
JC teammate Carlos España was also at this race and ran in the 1/8 Electric Truggy and 40+ Buggy classes. He would set the TQ in the truggy class and finish 2nd for the weekend! He used our Blue compound Reflex tires in the front and Blue compound Triple Dees in the rear. In the buggy class he qualified 2nd overall and locked up the last spot on the podium! His buggy used Red and Orange compound Blockers.
JConcepts driver Doug Dragotta competed in the Mod 2wd and 1/8 40+ Electric Buggy classes. In Mod 2wd he would start 2nd for the AA mains and win them both to lock up the title! In the 40+ class he qualified 6th overall and after the mains were run he finished 11th overall! In Mod 2wd he ran Green and Blue compound Sprinters in the rear and Blue compound Rips in the front along with a P2 body. His E buggy ran fast on R2 and Blue compound Detox tires.
Staying in state let’s now go to Philema which is home to Chehaw RC Raceway.
This past weekend they ran their Brawl event and our driver AJ Zale reports he finished 5th in the Mod Sprint class! He ran on slicked out Aqua compound Dirt Webs and Ellipse tires.
Now let’s go down to sunny Florida for an update from the team as they competed at the recent SNAP HARD Racing League event hosted by Sundancers R/C Raceway in Port Saint Lucie.
Starting with JC driver Kyle Paquette he reports he took the double TQ and win in the Mod 2wd and 4wd Buggy classes! His rides were dialed running on Green compound Sprinters and Rips along with a S2 body on his 2wd ride and Green compound Sprinters on all four corners for his wheeler.
His teammate Jason Westfall was also at this event and ran in the Mod 4wd and 1/8 Expert Electric Buggy classes. He would lock up the final podium spot in both while using a F2 body, Green and Blue compound Sprinters and Reflex tires!
Now let’s go north to North Carolina and stop in at Ho-b RC Park in Durham. Our driver Dave McEwen was there competing at Round 3 of the Send It Series and competed in the 17.5 2wd Buggy class. He took the TQ and win while running the following gear!
- Twin Pins
- Swaggers
- Mono wheels
- P2K body
- Carpet | Astro High-Clearance 6.5″ Rear Wing
- Fin Titanium Turnbuckles
Moving further north into Somerset, PA we get this update from team driver Matt Adams. He recently visited Kickin Dirt Raceway for their No Brainer trophy race. He would make the bump from the B Main to join the A Main drivers for the Stadium Truck class and would go on to take the feature win! He used Black compound Octagons with a Finnisher body. He also qualified 4th in the SCT class and would finish 6th overall. In that class he used the same tires mounted to Hazard wheels along with a Hi-Flow body.
Now let’s head east over to Ohio and stop in at the Ohio RC Factory in Jeffersonville. Our driver Miss Bella was in attendance for their USRC Championship Series and gives us the following update. She ran in the 1/8 Pro Electric Buggy class and qualified 17th overall and would bump up into the B Main by lapping the entire field in her C Main! Unfortunately her weekend ended early in the B Main when a car flew onto the track the wrong way and broke her car out.
She also raced in the 1/8 Electric Truggy class and would qualify for the A and finish 5th overall! In e buggy she ran Green compound Dirt Webs and her truggy ran Black compound Reflex tires. She also used Bullet wheels, Dirt-Tech foams and Finnisher and S15 bodies.
Bouncing over to Indiana we get this update from team driver Logan Wendling. He was in Granger competing at the 1/8 Scale Awesomeness event hosted by RC Fun Park. He competed in the 1/8 Electric Buggy class and would qualify 3rd for the main out of 41 entries! He would go on to take the win while running on Green compound Reflex tires, Bullet wheels and Finnisher 1/8 Wing Buttons! In the 1/8 Nitro Buggy class he qualified 2nd out of 35 entries, but had a little bad luck in the main and would settle for 7th overall while running the same equipment package.
Our next stop is the “Show Me State” in the town of St. Charles where SmacTrac is located. This past weekend they held their 2021 Tekno Winter Indoor Challenge with nearly 180 entries so let’s see how the team performed.
Starting with JC driver Ryan Mcclain he competed in both the 13.5 and Mod 4wd Buggy classes and would finish in the lower mains in 13.5 and 9th overall in the Mod class! In the mains he used Silver compound Ellipses in both the front and rear.
Teammate Brad Dean was also running at this race and reports that he took the double TQ and win in the Mod 2wd and 4wd Buggy classes! All of his rides ran fast on Gold compound Ellipses, Mono wheels and F2 bodies.
Our next stop is the HobbyTown USA HobbyPlex (The Plex) in Omaha, NE. This past weekend they held their 4th Annual Carpet Off-Road Crash In trophy race. Let’s see how the team performed starting with team driver Ethan Delair.
He competed in both the Mod 2wd and 4wd Buggy classes and would take the TQ and win in both! His cars were hooked up running on Swaggers, Twin Pins, F2 bodies, a Carpet | Astro High-Clearance 6.5″ Rear Wing on his 2wd and a Aero S-Type 7″ Rear Wing on his wheeler.
Teammate Mike Sanders brought the family over for this race and he competed in the 40+ Mod 2wd Buggy and 13.5 Stadium Truck classes. He would finish 5th in truck and take the win in the buggy class! His son Caden ran in the Expert 17.5 2wd and 13.5 4wd Buggy classes and would finish 4th in 17.5 and took the win in 13.5! They used Twin Pins, Swaggers, Pin Downs and S2 and Finnisher bodies.
Heading south let’s move down to 405 RC Raceway in Oklahoma City, OK. This past weekend they ran their 19th Annual Bigfoot Off-Road Extravaganza and let’s check in with the team to see how they performed.
Team driver Rhett McNair reports that he qualified and finished 2nd in both the Mod 2wd and 13.5 4wd Buggy classes! He used our Twin Pins and Swaggers along with S2 bodies on both cars.
JC mate Heath Lawson was also in attendance and he competed in the 17.5 2wd and 13.5 4wd Buggy classes and would finish 5th overall in both! He used Twin Pins and Swaggers along with Mono wheels and a P2K body on his 2wd and Nessi and Swaggers mounted to Mono wheels for his 4wd.
Now let’s shoot down to Garland, TX where Indy RC World is located. This past weekend they ran Round 1 of their Ice Breaker Series and we had several drivers competing so let’s get some reports starting with team driver Noel Cerda. He competed in both the 1/8 Sportsman Electric Buggy and Truggy classes and would TQ and finish 2nd in e buggy and qualify 6th and finish 4th in truggy! Both vehicles ran on Blue compound Reflex tires and Bullet wheels.
Also competing was teammate Randy Lathrop in the 1/8 Expert Electric Buggy and Truggy classes. He would take the win in the truggy class and finish 5th in buggy while running the same tire setup!
Now let’s head out west to California to get a few updates from the team.
Starting first with John Caudillo he recently visited Ricochet R/C Raceway in El Centro for the first round of the Battle Of The Carpet series. He reports he raced in the Mod 4wd Buggy class and finished 2nd overall while running on Twin Pins and Swaggers!
Teammate Mike Sorchy reports that he secured the final spot on the podium in the Mod 2wd Buggy class while running on Swaggers and Nessi tires and a S2 body!
Now let’s get an update from our international team starting with team driver Alberto Garcia. He reports that he took 3rd place in the semifinals at the Madrid Championships while using a Silencer body, F2I wing and Detox tires in the Blue compound!
Finally, team driver Jarod Ment checks in to report that he attended the re-opening of the Sydney RC outdoor clay facility and took the double win in the Mod 2wd and 4wd Buggy classes! He used P2 and F2 bodies, Green compound Ellipse tires, and a Carpet | Astro High-Clearance 7″ Rear Wing.
