March madness is upon us and the JConcepts race team did a crazy amount of racing last week so let’s get right too it!
This week’s race team update starts in Knoxville, TN where ROCCK Racing is located. They held their 8th Annual Tennessee State Championship with 329 entries competing in it. Let’s see how the JConcepts team performed starting with team driver Bryce Taets.
He reports that he finished 4th overall in the Intermediate eBuggy class running on Green compound ReHabs!
Teammate Brad Collins reports that he secured 2nd overall in both the Pro 1/8 Nitro and Electric Buggy classes! For the mains he used both the Gold compound Ellipses and Green compound ReHabs.
JC driver Ken Rand Jr. reports that he also ran in the Pro 1/8 Electric Buggy class and finished 10th overall! His buggy was running smooth on Ellipse tires.
JConcepts driver Carlos España competed in three classes at this event and finished 2nd in Intermediate eBuggy, 3rd in 40+ 1/8 Electric Buggy and 6th in 1/8 Electric Truggy! His cars ran fast on Green compound ReHabs and Reflex tires along with Silver compound Ellipses.
Team driver Miss Bella also competed at this event in both the Pro 1/8 Nitro and Electric Buggy classes. She would get a DNF in the B Main for eBuggy while running on Silver compound ReHabs topped with a S15 body. She would make the A Main in the Truggy class and lock up the final podium spot while using Green compound Ellipse tires, Dirt-Tech foams and Bullet wheels!
Teammate Jonah Wilson reported that he ran in three classes: Pro 1/8 Nitro Buggy, Pro eBuggy, and Pro eTruggy. He would qualify 4th for the nitro buggy main while running on Green compound ReHabs but unfortunately couldn’t start the race due to engine failure. In the Pro eBuggy class he started 3rd in the main and would finish there while using Silver compound Ellipses, Green compound Rehabs and a S15 body! In the Pro eTruggy class he would take the TQ and the win! He used Gold compound Ellipses all weekend along with a Finnisher body, Dirt-Tech foams, Bullet wheels and F2I wings on all three cars.
Now we turn our turn to Georgia and head to Augusta where Augusta R/C Supercross is located. This past weekend they hosted Round 4 of the Snap Hard Racing League and let’s get a few updates from the team starting with team driver Jason Westfall.
He reports that he only competed in the 1/8 portion of the event and would take the TQ and the win in the Pro 1/8 eBuggy class while running on Green compound Stalkers!
Teammate Chris VanRaemdonck was also racing at this event and for the electric portion he would make the A main and finish 2nd overall in the Mod 2wd Buggy class! He said Green compound Double Dees were the tire of choice. In the 1/8 portion of this event he ran in both the Pro 1/8 Nitro Buggy and Truggy classes and qualified in 2nd place for both mains. At the end of the event he would take 2nd place in Pro Nitro Buggy and the W in the Pro Truggy class! His buggy used our Green compound Blockers and his winning truggy used Reflex tires in the same compound.
Next, we dip down to Florida to get this update from JC driver Patrick Rossiter Jr.
He was in Callahan racing at Callahan Off-Road RC Raceway for their 2021 March Mayhem race and took the TQ and win in the 1/8 Electric Buggy class! He used Green compound Stalkers, a S15 body and a F2I wing.
Heading up north we stop in at S & B R/C Speedway in Piedmont, SC. Our driver Shay Brand reports that he attended their season opener last weekend and took the TQ and win in the 1/8 Pro eBuggy class while running on Silver compound Ellipses! In the 1/8 Pro Nitro Buggy class he would qualify and finish a solid 3rd place while using Green compound Reflex tires! Both bugs also used out Strike 2 body.
Moving up into North Carolina we stop in at the city of Lucama which is the home of World of RC parts/Thunder Alley. They just ran Round 6 of their Super 7 Series so let’s see how the team did starting with JC driver Josh Parrish.
He said he took the TQ and win in the Stadium Truck class while running on Aqua compound Ellipses and a Finnisher body! He also took the TQ and 2nd overall in the Mod 2wd Buggy class along with another 2nd place in the 17.5 2wd Buggy class! His buggies used Silver compound Ellipse tires, a S2 body and an Aero S-Type 7″ Rear Wing.
Also checking in is team driver Dave McEwen who competed in 5 classes! He definitely earns our Ironman award of the week and had awesome results!
- TQ and 1st in 17.5 2wd Buggy with Green compound Ellipses sanded to slicks
- 1st in Mod 2wd Buggy using Silver compound Ellipses sanded to slicks
- TQ and 1st 13.5 4wd Buggy using Green compound Octagons
- TQ and 1st Mod 4wd Buggy using Green compound Octagons
- 1st in Mod 2wd SCT on Silver compound Octagons
Both of his 2wd buggies used the P2 body and a B6.2 front wing. His 4wd cars used our S2 (Mod) and F2 (17.5) bodies. His SCT used our HF2 body too. All of the buggies used Mono wheels while the SCT ran on our proven Hazard rims.
Also racing in the 4wd SCT and Mini Truggy classes was JConcepts driver Luis Diego. He reported that he took the TQ and win in both while using slicked out Silver compound Ellipses on his mini truggy and Aqua compound Ellipses on his 4wd SCT!
Now we make a diagonal to Washtenaw R/C Speedway in Ann Arbor, MI to get this update from team driver Jeff Todd. He attended their final race of the season and reported that he finished 12th overall in 17.5 2wd Buggy and 2nd overall in Mod 2wd SCT! His buggy used a P2 body, a Carpet | Astro High-Clearance 7″ Rear Wing, and a B6.2 front wing. For tires he used Green compound Double Dees and Sprinters mounted to Mono and Hazard wheels.
Jumping east over Lake Michigan we land in New Richmond, Wisconsin which is home to the The Toy Box. Our driver Joe Zaier Jr. recently competed at another points race this past Saturday and took the TQ and win in the Expert 17.5 2wd Buggy class! He was running fast on Silver compound Ellipses and a lightweight P2 body. He also took 3rd overall in the Mini Truggy class while running on Silver compound Ellipses too!
Heading over to the Land of 10,000 Lakes we get this update from team driver Kyle Holmberg. He recently visited the Hobby Farm R/C Club in Ogilvie for their final points event. He would take the TQ and win in the 13.5 Sprint class while running on Silver compound Ellipses on all four corners!
Now we head south on I-35 and stop in at Fort Dodge, IA where IORC is located. This past weekend they held Round 4 of their Winter series and our driver Brandon Kearney would miss out on the podium in Mod 2wd and finish 2nd in Mod 4wd! Both cars used Twin Pins and Swaggers.
Heading west we stop in at the HobbyTown USA HobbyPlex (The Plex) in Omaha, NE. Team driver Will Brinton was recently there competing at the 2nd race of the Triple Scoop Series and reports that he qualified and finished 2nd in Mod 2wd Buggy! He used Gold compound Ellipses in the rear and Dirt Webs up front.
Our next stop is at Fastlane Raceway in Blue Springs, MO which recently held their 2021 March Mayhem trophy race that saw over 100 entries. Our driver Brad Dean reports that he doubled up with a TQ and win in both the Mod 2wd and 4wd classes! Both cars used Gold compound Ellipses along with a P2 body on his 2wd and a F2 body on his wheeler. Joining him on the Mod 2wd podium were teammates David Alberico (2nd), Nick Gibson (3rd) and Joe Duffy (4th)!
The next stop in our report is at Mojo Hobby in Oklahoma City, OK. They recently hosted the opening round of the RC Pro Oval North and we have a few updates from our drivers starting with Tyler Keel. He competed in both the Outlaw Sprint and Midwest Mod classes and qualified 3rd overall in both. In the Sprint class he had some bad luck on the track and would fall back to 8th overall. In the Midwest Mod main he would start and finish in 3rd! He said he used Ellipses and Space bars in our Gold compound along with Dirt-Tech foams.
Also running some roundy round was JC driver Heath Lawson. He also competed in the Outlaw Sprint class and would miss out bumping out of the B Main. He said he still had a lot of fun and ran on Blue compound Ellipses in the rear and Dirt Webs up front all on Mono wheels!
Now we shoot down to Hutto, TX to check in on the team competing at the 2021 LoneStar Challenge at Thornhill Racing Circuit. Starting with team driver Robert Chapman he reports that he competed in three classes:
- 8th in the 1/8 Intermediate Nitro Buggy B Main
- 11th in the 1/8 Intermediate Electric Buggy A Main
- 5th in the 1/8 Intermediate Nitro Truggy A Main
Both of his buggies used Blue compound Detox tires while his truggy ran on Green compound Reflex rubber!
Also racing was JC mate Noel Cerda in the 1/8 Sportsman Electric Buggy and Truggy classes. He would finish 6th in the B Main for eBuggy and 3rd overall in the truggy class! His buggy ran on Blue compound Detox tires glued to Bullet wheels. His truggy used R2 compound Reflex tires on the same rims.
Leading the charge for the team that weekend was teammate Tyler Jones who took the TQ and win in the 1/8 Nitro and Electric Buggy classes! He set the fastest times running on Blue compound Reflex tires in eBuggy and Green compound Detox tires in nitro buggy!
Heading way out west to Hemet, CA we get a few updates from the team who competed at a recent carpet event put on by BWS Raceway.
Starting with team driver Brenden Edwards he reports that made all three podiums in the Expert 17.5 2wd Buggy, Open 2wd SCT and Open Stadium Truck classes! He used Twin Pins, Swaggers and Pin Downs.
Also racing were brothers Levi and Chase Raymond. Starting with Levi, he took the TQ and 2nd overall in the Expert 17.5 2wd Buggy class while running on Swaggers and Nessi tires along with a F2 body!
His brother Chase took the TQ and 3rd in 13.5 4wd Buggy while using Swaggers and Twin Pins tires along with a F2 body!
And teammate Mike Sorchy took 3rd place in Mod 2wd Buggy while using Swaggers and Nessi tires, Mono wheels and a S2 body!
Finally, let’s get an update from Australian team driver Lachlan Donnelly. He recently attended Hills Off Road RC club in Castle Hill, NSW and took the TQ and win in Mod 2wd and 2nd overall in Mod 4wd!
He started on Green compound Flip Outs, then moved to Sprinters in the same compound, then Blue compound Sprinters before finally settling on Blue compound Ellipses as the track evolved from wet, to dusty, to grooved.
