Over the weekend the clocks might have changed but the racing results remain the same as the JConcepts race team keep marching towards the podium! Read all about it in this week’s Race Team Update!
We start this week’s race report down in Myrtle Beach, SC at Beach RC & Hobbies. They just ran their 7th Annual BeachRC.com Palmetto Classic and let’s check in on the team’s results starting with Josh Parrish.
He reported that he competed in the 17.5 2wd Buggy, 13.5 4wd Buggy and Mod Stadium Truck classes and made the A Main in all three! In 13.5 4wd Buggy he would settle for a DNF after running in 4th place in the main on slicked out Silver compound Ellipses with a F2 body. In the 17.5 2wd Buggy class he would end up 4th overall while running the same tire setup along with Mono wheels and a S2 body. And in the Mod Stadium Truck class he would lock up 3rd overall while using our Ellipses in the Green compound and a Finnisher body!
Teammate Jason Westfall was also competing at this event and finished 6th overall in the 40+ Mod 4wd Buggy class! He also took 3rd overall in the 40+ Mod 2wd Buggy class! Both bugs were using our Silver compound Ellipses with F2 bodies.
JC driver David Olsen reported that he competed in the Mod 2wd and 4wd Buggy classes plus Mod Stadium Truck. He finished 9th overall in Mod 2wd, 4th overall in Mod 4wd, and 2nd overall in Mod Truck!
JConcepts driver Dave McEwen takes home out coveted “ironman” award for the second consecutive week as he competed in six classes at this race! And once again he put in amazing results while competing in those classes!

- 17.5 2wd Buggy – 2nd place – Silver compound Ellipses (slicked/ghosted), Mono wheels, P2 body, a Carpet | Astro High-Clearance 7″ Rear Wing
- 13.5 4wd Buggy – TQ and 1st place – Silver compound Ellipses (slicked/ghosted), Mono wheels, F2 body
JC mate Cade Burnette was also racing at this event in the Pro Mod 2wd and 4wd Buggy classes. He would qualify for both mains and finish 10th overall in Pro Mod 2wd and took 3rd place in Mod 4wd! His 2wd ride used a P2K body, Aero wing package and Silver and Gold compound Ellipses. His wheeler ran fast thanks to a S2 shell and Silver and Gold compound Ellipses.
Now we head north to Fitchburg, MA where R/C Excitement is located. The just held their 2021 Supercross Showdown and let’s how the team did starting with driver Michael Fredericks. He reports that he finished 3rd overall in Mod 4wd Buggy and set the TQ and finished 3rd overall in the 40+ Mod 2wd Buggy class! He said both cars felt good on slicked out Green compound Ellipses, Mono wheels, S2 bodies and an Aero wing package.
His teammate Matt Perault checked in to report that he competed in both the Mod 4wd and 40+ Mod 2wd Buggy classes. He would finish 5th in Mod 4wd and took the win in 40+ Mod 2wd Buggy! Both cars used the same tire and wheel setup as Michael along with F2 bodies.
Now let’s veer over to Middletown, NY and check out the racing action at T&T Hobbies.
They just held their March Madness trophy race and our driver Eric Bresnahan reports that he competed in Stadium Truck class and took the TQ and win for the 3rd straight year! Swaggers and Pin Downs along with a F2 body were the weapons of choice.
Our next stop is at Dirt Heaven Hobby and Raceway in New Franken, WI.
They just ran another round of their Winter Series and our driver Ryan Derenne reports that he finished 2nd overall in the 40+ Super Stock 2wd Buggy class while running on sanded down Silver compound Ellipses, a P2 body and Aero wing package! He would also finish 2nd in Mod Stadium Truck running the same tires and a Finnisher body! And in Mod wheeler he locked up 3rd place in the A Main running on the same tire setup and a S2 body!
Also competing at this event was teammate Richie Peters in the 17.5 2wd Buggy class. He would set the TQ and lap the entire field in the main event to take the win that day! He used Silver compound Ellipses sanded to slicks along with a Finnisher body and Aero wings.
Continuing west we get this race update from team driver Joe Zaier Jr. He was back at 510 Raceway in Foley, MN for their Shamrock Showdown and reports that he finished 3rd overall in the Mini Truggy class while running on Silver compound Ellipses!
Now we turn out attention to the HobbyTown USA HobbyPlex (The Plex) in Omaha, NE. They just wrapped up their Winter Series so let’s see how the team performed. JConcepts driver Mason Fuller reports that he captured 1st place overall in both the Expert 1/8 Nitro and Electric Buggy classes! He used Gold compound Dirt Webs, Bar Codes and Ellipses throughout the series along with Bullet wheels.
Finishing 3rd overall for the series in both of those classes was teammate Ashton Abdul! For the finals he used a P1 body along with Silver compound Ellipses and Gold compound Bar Codes.
Staying in Nebraska we now head over to Aurora where Jensen RC Raceway is located. Our driver Shane Wheeler made the six hour drive to compete there in the 2021 Battle At The Bard event.
He competed in both the Open Sprint and Midwest Mod classes. He set the TQ in the Sprint class but unfortunately in the main some lap traffic would send him to the infield for a couple of laps which put him out of contention for the win. In the Midwest Mod class he would start and finish in 2nd place! He used Blue compound Ellipse all the way around on both vehicles plus he snagged the special “Mr. Fix It” award for helping out other drivers at this event!!
Let’s head south to Jake’s RC Pro Am in Topeka, KS to get this report from JC driver Travis Slover. He attended their 11th Annual Pro-Am Showdown and put in some great results!
- TQ and 1st in +40 2wd Buggy
- 2nd in 13.5 4wd Buggy
- 2nd in 13.5 Stadium Truck
Both buggies ran Twin Pins and Swaggers while his truck used Swaggers and Pin Downs. Both buggies used the Carpet | Astro High-Clearance 7″ Rear Wing and his 2wd was topped with a P2K lid while his wheeler used a F2 body. His truck used our Finnisher body.
Our next report comes from team driver Chris Parrish who attended the recent Childress Racing Winter Series event in Sullivan, MO. He competed in the Retro class with his Awesome Kong monster truck and won two of the three brackets along with a 2nd place in the other one! His rig used the 1988 Chevy Silverado “Snoop Nose” MT body, Tribute wheels and Golden Years tires.
Heading south into Arkansas let’s stop in at FORC Raceway in Jonesboro to see how the team finished at their recent March Madness 3.0 event.
Starting with team driver Matthew Pyle he reported that he took the double TQ and win in the 17.5 2wd and 13.5 4wd Buggy classes! He used slicked out Silver compound Ellipses along with F2 bodies on both winning vehicles.
Teammate Braxten Culley reports that he took two wins in the Mod 2wd and 4wd Buggy classes! He also set the TQ in the 2wd class and ran fast at this event on same tire and body options as Matthew. Joining him on the 4wd podium in 2nd place was teammate Calvin Bruce!
JConcepts driver Drew Spurgeon also competed in those same mod buggy classes along with the Stadium Truck class. In the mains he would get a DNF for Mod 2wd Buggy, finish 5th in Mod 4wd Buggy and took the TQ and win in Stadium Truck! He used our Ellipse tires in both the Silver and Gold compounds along with F2 and S2 bodies.
Let’s take a quick detour back to Florida to get this team update from JC driver Nelson Garcia. He was competing at the Mayhem III Race 4 hosted by Coral Springs RC Track in Coral Springs. He took the TQ and win in the 1/8 Electric Buggy class while using Green compound Stalkers, a S15 body and a Finnisher wing!
Now let’s shoot back over to Texas and get some updates from our drivers competing at the Beans And Cornbread Spring Nationals. Originally this race was supposed to be held at Money Pit RC Hobbies in Merkel but due to the weather it was moved to 4way Speedway in Abilene. Our driver Robert Chapman competed in three classes and finished on top of the podium in all of them!
- Outlaw Sprint – Green compound Dirt Webs fronts and Green compound Ellipses in the rear
- Midwest Modified – Green compound Dirt Webs fronts and Green compound Ellipses in the rear
- Wingless Sprint – Spec tire
Also racing was teammate Kevin Lenderman who competed in two classes as well. He finished 4th overall in Midwest Modified while running on Green compound Dirt Webs in the front, Black compound Ellipses in the rear and all on Mono wheels. And in the SC Mod class he took the A Main win while using Green compound Ellipses on Hazard rims!
Now let’s fly out west to SDRC Raceway in San Diego, CA for Round 4 of their Supercross Series. Our driver Mike Sorchy reports that he took the W in the Open 2wd Buggy class while running on slicked out Silver compound Ellipses mounted to Mono wheels along with a Carpet | Astro High-Clearance 7″ Rear Wing and S2 body! Joining him on the podium in 2nd place was teammate Chris Raymond!
Heading up the coast we settle in at PDX RC Underground in Portland, OR to get this team update from Ryan Reavis. He was racing at the finals of their Rockstar series and after the points were added up he took the class win for Mod 2wd Buggy! He used our P2K body along with Nessie and Swaggers tires. Joining him on the final podium for the series was teammates Brandon Foote (2nd), Harley Yoshii (3rd) and Joe Pillars (4th)!
Now let’s a quick update from our overseas team starting with JC driver Lachlan Munday. This past weekend he did some outdoor club racing at Keilor in Melbourne and took the double win in both the Mod 2wd and 4wd Buggy classes! He ran fast on Green compound Ellipses in the front, Black compound Ellipses in the rear, a P2 lightweight body on the 2wd, a F2 lightweight body on the 4wd and a B6.2 Front Wing.
Finally, fellow JC mate Brayden Johnston competed at his first real nitro race of the season when he ran at MORBC this past Sunday. He was able to put in a 1st place finish, three 2nd place finishes and one 3rd place finish as he tested out new gear! For his first run of the day he tried out the Green compound Komos tire before switching over to Blue compound Stalkers for the rest of the race day.
