Last week was Spring Break for many parts of the nation, but there is no time off for the JConcepts race team as they keep taking wins at tracks around the US! See where we won at this past week in this new edition of the Race Team Update!
We start this week’s report out in Antioch, CA which is home to Delta RC Hobbies & Race Park. Our driver Derek Stephansen reports that he attended the final round of their Electric Winter Points series and he took the double TQ and win in the 17.5 2wd and 13.5 4wd Buggy classes! And in addition to that, after the series points were totaled he took the title in both of those classes too! He used our Green compound Ellipses in the front, Black compound Ellipses in the rear along with F2 and P2 bodies and the Carpet | Astro High-Clearance 7″ Rear Wing. Joining him on the podium for the finals in the 17.5 2wd Buggy class was teammate Doug Lariviere!
Heading east towards Oklahoma we check in with the team competing at the opening night of dirt oval racing at Taylor Park in Yukon. Starting with team driver Heath Lawson he reports that he competed in the Outlaw Sprint Class and finished 4th overall while running on Green compound Ellipses in the rear and Dirt Webs in the front all mounted to Mono wheels!
Teammate Tyler Keel competed in the same class and took the TQ and win while using the same tire setup! He also competed in the Midwest Mod class and finished 2nd to his JConcepts teammate Brian Stanton!
Brian reported that he also ran in the Latemodel and Outlaw Sprint classes as well. He took the TQ and win in Latemodel and finished 2nd in Outlaw Sprint behind Tyler! All of his cars used Green compound Ellipses on Mono wheels.
JC driver Billy Caldwell also competed in the Outlaw Sprint class and would just miss out bumping up to the A. His ride was equipped with Ellipses on Mono wheels.
Fellow team driver David Alford was also running some Outlaw Sprint at this event and would start as BQ but just missed out on the transfer to the A Main. Just like many other drivers he used Green compound Ellipses on all four corners.
Staying in state we now shift our focus to Shifty’s RC Raceway in Tulsa to get this quick update from team driver Ken Peterson. He attended Round 2 of their points series and would finish 2nd in both the Mod 2wd Buggy and 13.5 4wd Buggy classes! Both rides used slicked out Silver compound Ellipse tires in the front and back.
Now we send it south into Porter, TX and stop in at Mike’s Gulf Coast RC Raceway.
They recently held the opening round of the RC Pro Oval South series and let’s get an update from the team starting with JConcepts driver Robert Chapman. He reports that he competed in three different classes and took two wins!
- 1st in Midwest Modified
- 1st in Outlaw Sprint
- 2nd in Wingless Sprint
All of his cars used Green compound Dirt Webs in the front, Green Ellipses in the rear and glued up to 9-Shot wheels.
Also running at this event was teammate Kevin Lenderman in both the Midwest Modified and SC Mod classes. He would finish 4th in Midwest Modified running on Green compound Dirt Webs up front and Black compound Ellipses in the rear and all on white Mono wheels! In SC Mod he would finish 2nd on the podium while using Green compound Ellipses all the way around on black Hazard wheels.
Now let’s make a diagonal to APEX Raceway and Hobbies in Murfreesboro, TN. They recently hosted the TISOC (Tennessee Indoor State Off-Road Championship) and let’s see how the team performed starting with JConcepts driver Willie Scott. He competed in the 13.5 Stadium Truck class and finished 6th overall in the main! He used Swaggers in the front and Pin Downs in the rear.
Also running at this race was teammate Drew Williams. He competed in both the 17.5 2wd and 13.5 4wd Buggy classes and made the AA mains for both. After they were completed he finished 3rd on the podium in 13.5 4wd and 6th overall in the 17.5 2wd class!
Heading south into Alabama we stop in Helena where Warehouse Hobby Raceway is located.
They recently hosted Round 5 of the SNAP HARD Racing League and team driver Jason Westfall reports that he finished 3rd overall in the Mod 4wd class with Black compound Ellipses and a F2 body! Joining him on the podium were teammates Randy Enger (1st) and Chris VanRaemdonck (2nd) to complete the JConcepts sweep! Speaking of Randy, he competed in a total of four classes and podiumed in all of them!

- 2nd in 1/8 Nitro Buggy
- 3rd in 1/8 Electric Buggy
All vehicles used Ellipse tires in the Green compound and he also takes home our coveted “Ironman” award for this week too!
Our driver Danny Smith was also racing at this event in both the Mod 4wd and 1/8 Nitro Buggy classes. He started 4th for the main in Mod 4wd but broke out unfortunately. In the 1/8 Nitro Buggy class he started 2nd but finished 3rd right behind teammate Randy! His Mod wheeler used Black compound Ellipse tires in the rear and Green compound in the front, while his Nitro rig used Aqua compound Detox tires.
Team driver William Ables reported that he took the win in the 1/8 Expert Electric Buggy class while running on Silver compound Ellipses in the main!
Now we jump the state lines and land into Loganville, GA where the Loganville RC Complex is located. Last Saturday they hosted Round 1 of the SOS Series which saw over 300 entries! Team driver Cade Burnette competed in the 1/8 Pro Nitro Buggy and Truggy classes. He set the TQ in the Truggy class for the 20 minute main event and took the win when time expired! He used a F2I wing, Finnisher body and Gold compound Ellipse tires. In the buggy class he started 14th on the grid and battled his way all the way up to 5th place overall! He also used a F2I wing, Strike 2 shell and Gold compound Ellipses.
Teammate Shay Brand was also competing at this race in both the 1/8 Nitro and Electric Buggy classes. He TQed both classes but suffered a DNF in the nitro main but took the win in the E Buggy class! He used Silver compound ReHab tires in the mains and during qualifying he ran on both Green compound Diamond Bars and Blue compound Ellipses. Joining him on the podium were teammates David Olsen (2nd) and James Calhoun (3rd) to complete the JC sweep!
Now we head north along the coastline to get an update from the team competing at the finals for the Super 7 Winter Series at Thunder Alley RC Speedway in Lucama, NC.
Starting with JC driver Josh Parrish he reports that when the points were calculated he took 1st place in 13.5 4wd and Mod 2wd Buggy along with a 2nd place finish in 17.5 2wd Buggy! For the finals he ran Green compound Octagons and a S2 body in the 13.5 4wd class and Silver compound Ellipses and a S2 body for both 2wd Buggy classes.
Teammate Luis Diego also wrapped up racing in this series and took home the points title in both the 4wd SCT and Mini Truggy classes! In the 4wd SCT class he used Aqua compound Ellipses and in Mini Truggy he used Silver compound Ellipses that were slicked out. Both vehicles also used Finnisher body shells.
JC driver Dave McEwen also took home some hardware were the points were tallied up!

His 2wd buggies used Ellipses in the Green compound sanded down to slicks on Mono wheels along with a P2 body and Carpet | Astro High-Clearance 7″ Rear Wing. His 4wd buggy ran Green compound Octagons on Mono wheels, a F2 body and the Carpet | Astro High-Clearance 6.5″ Rear Wing. For the series he also competed in the Stadium Truck class using Silver compound Ellipses on Mono wheels and a Finnisher lid.
Kicking it up north into Pennsylvania we check in with team driver Matt Adams who recently competed at the Shamrock Showdown at Kickin Dirt Raceway in Somerset. He competed in three different classes and made the podium in two of them!
- Mod 2wd Buggy – 4th place running on Black compound Octagons topped with a F2 body
- 2wd SCT – 3rd place running on Black compound Octagons topped with a Hi-Flow body and Hazard rims
- Stadium Truck – 3rd place running on sanded down Black compound Ellipses, Mono wheels and a Finnisher body
Our final stop is in Enfield, CT where we get a race report from the team who recently visited RC Madness for their recent March Madness Off-Road Trophy Race
First up is JC driver Eric Bresnahan who reported that he finished 1st in the B Main for 17.5 2wd Buggy and took the TQ and win in both the Short Course and Stadium Truck classes! He used F2 bodies along with Swaggers, Pin Downs and Nessi tires.
His teammate John Cravotta was also running at this event and TQed and won in 17.5 2wd Buggy and finished 2nd in 13.5 4wd Buggy! He used Swaggers and Nessi tires along with a P2K shell.
