Another solid week of racing is in the books and it looks like there is no stopping the success of the JConcepts race team in 2021! Read about this week’s winning ways in this edition of the Race Team Update!
We start this week’s report up in Brookfield, WI which is home to Trackside Hobbies & Raceway. Over the weekend they held their U.S. Buggy Championship event which saw over 250 entries! Let’s get an update from the team starting with JC driver Kyle Holmberg.
He reported that he finished 2nd overall in the 17.5 2wd and 13.5 4wd Buggy classes as well as 7th in Mod 2wd Buggy! All of his cars were running fast on sanded down Silver compound Ellipse tires.
Teammate Nate Sutherland reports that he finished 3rd overall in both the 17.5 2wd and 13.5 4wd Buggy classes! His wheeler used Ellipse tires in both the front and the rear while his 2wd bug used Ellipses in the rear but Dirt Webs up front.
JConcepts driver Richie Peters also ran at this event and finished 4th overall in 17.5 2wd Buggy and 11th overall in Mod 2wd Buggy! His cars used Silver compound Dirt Webs and Ellipses sanded down to slicks, all mounted to Mono wheels, a Finnisher body and an Aero wing package.
Leading the charge for the team at this event was JC driver Cole Tollard. He was able to take the TQ and win in both the Mod 2wd and 4wd Buggy classes! He also used sanded down Silver compound Ellipses too.
Staying in the state we now travel to New Franken where Dirt Heaven Hobby & Raceway is located. They recently held their Best Of The Rest race event and team driver Ryan Derenne was in attendance and filed the following report. In the 40+ Super Stock 2wd Buggy class he would start as TQ for the A Main and go on to lap the entire field for the win! He used sanded Silver compound Ellipse tires and a P2 body. In the 13.5 4wd Buggy class he started 2nd for the A Main and after a great battle on the track he would take the win! He used the same tire setup along with a S2 body. In the Mod Truck class he would he start and finish in 2nd place! In this race he used sanded down Gold compound Ellipses along with a Finnisher body.
Now we head south into Illinois to get this update from team driver Dale Best. He recently did some club racing at WS Raceway in Paxton and finished 5th overall in 2wd Buggy! He said sanded down Gold compound Ellipses were on point all day.
Bouncing over to the Hoosier State we stop in Granger where RC Fun Park and Hobbies is located. They recently held the Great Lakes Indoor Championships race and let’s get an update from the team starting with team driver Kyle Munson. Kyle earns our coveted “Ironman” award by competing in four different classes that weekend!
- 17.5 2wd Buggy – 5th overall
- Mod 2wd Buggy – 3rd overall
- Stadium Truck – TQ and 1st overall
- 2wd Short Course Truck – 5th overall
His 2wd buggies used a F2 body and Ellipses in the Silver compound. His 2wd SCT used the same tire setup mounted to Hazard wheels. And he also used the same tires in Stadium Truck along with a Finnisher body.
Also competing at this race was teammate David Perez. He entered both the 17.5 and 40+ Mod 2wd Buggy classes along with 2wd SCT. He finished 17th overall in 17.5 2wd Buggy, 7th in 2wd SCT and 3rd place in 40+ Mod 2wd Buggy! All vehicles ran on Silver compound Ellipse tires.
Now we head east to Get a Hobby in Uniontown, PA to get a racing update from JC driver Matt Stoltz. He raced an interesting combination of classes last Friday night as he took the double TQ and win in both Mod 2wd Buggy and Sport Mod Monster Truck! Our next stop is in York, ME where Maximus R/C Raceway is located. They recently held their Iron Maximus Trophy race and team driver John Cravotta competed in both the 17.5 2wd and 13.5 4wd Buggy classes. In 2wd he finished .2 behind 1st place to end up 2nd overall and in the 13.5 wheeler class he took the TQ and win!
Now we shoot over to Texas to get a few updates from the team competing at different events in the state. Starting with JConcepts driver Joel Rodriguez he attended the first round of the Texas Electric On-Road Series (Texas EOS) held at N-Control RC Racing Circuit in the city of Dale. He competed in the Stock Touring car class and finished 11th overall using the new A2R A-One Racer 2 190mm Touring Car body!
Next we head over to Thornhill Racing Circuit in Hutto to get an update from team driver Brian Henn. He was competing at Round 2 of the 2021 Thornhill Championship Series and reports that he qualified and finished 4th overall in the 1/8 Electric Buggy class!
Now we fly out west and stop in at Channel Islands Raceway in Santa Barbara, CA. JConcepts driver Jesse Granat reports that he finished 8th overall in the 1/8 Electric Buggy class while running R2 compound Reflex tires, a S15 body and Bullet wheels!
Let’s now get a few updates from our overseas race team starting with team driver Ben Panic. He travel several kilometers to run some 1/8 Nitro Buggy at the Maitland RC track. He finished 1st overall in A1 and 2nd in A2! He used a S15 body, Bullet wheels, Dirt-Tech inserts and Blue compound Reflex tires.
Our final race report comes from team driver Lachlan Donnelly. He recently club raced at Sydney RC on Sunday and then did some more testing the following day at Hills Off Road RC club in Castle Hill, NSW. He used Black and Green compound Ellipse tires at Sydney RC and then switched over Ellipse tires in the Blue and Aqua compound at the Hills.
