In this edition of the JConcepts Friday5 we talk to Texas team driver, Rhett McNair!
1. When and how did you get started in RC? And what class do you compete in or did you primarily bash your vehicles?
I got started in RC in 1990 with a JG truck conversion RC10. I came from Slot Car racing, so I went straight into RC Racing.
2. What is your favorite class to race in today and why?
Modified 2wd Buggy is my favorite class since it requires the most skill to go fast in.
3. In your region you do quite a bit of racing on off-road carpet. So what advice do you have for off-road dirt drivers that are trying out carpet for the 1st time?
My advice to dirt guys is, loosen your car up as much as you can for carpet. It’s really fun to just glue up tires and burn laps and not prepping tires. I was actually against artificial surfaces till I tried it.
4. In your opinion, when heading to the track what is the JConcepts product that is a must have on race day and why?
Most definitely JConcepts tires, they have what you need no matter what surface you race on.
5. You are obviously highly skilled when it comes to RC cars, but what is one skill or hidden talent that folks might be surprised to find out about you?
In the last year I have started building firearms as another hobby.
