Six months into 2021 and the JConcepts race team shows no signs of slowing down out on the track! Check out this week’s Race Team Update to read about our continued success!
We start this week’s race report down in Texas. There were several RC race events happening in the state so let’s see how the team performed starting at Mike’s Gulf Coast RC Raceway in Porter. Team driver Brian Germany reports that he attended an oval event there last Sunday and secured two 3rd place finishes in the Open Sprint and Midwest Modified classes! He used Sprinter tires in the Green compound.
Moving on to Indy RC World in Garland our next report comes courtesy of team driver Randy Lathrop. He was there competing at the 1st Round of their Sportsman Cup in the 1/8 Expert and 40+ Electric Buggy classes as well as 1/8 Expert Electric Truggy. After the dust had settled he would take 3rd in Expert E Buggy, 2nd in 40+ E Buggy and the TQ and win in Expert E Truggy! He used Blue compound Reflex tires in all three classes.
Also competing at this event was teammate Dillon Caldwell. He reports that he placed 3rd overall in the 1/8 Nitro Buggy class while running a Silencer body and Aqua compound Detox tires!
Also at this event representing JConcepts was our driver Micah Smith. He also competed in the 1/8 Expert Electric Truggy class and would finish 2nd overall! He used Green compound Lil Chasers for qualifying but switched over to Aqua compound Detox tires for the mains plus he used a S15 body.
Our last report from Texas comes from JConcepts driver Rhett McNair who was in Arlington where GoldStar Hobbies and Raceway is located. They just held Round 1 of their Summer Series and he competed in the 13.5 4wd Buggy class. He would TQ all rounds of qualifying and take the win in the main! He was running fast on Swaggers in the front, Fuzz Bites LP in the rear, a S2 body and a Carpet | Astro High-Clearance 7″ Rear Wing.
Now we head north into Oklahoma to get a few updates from the team competing at several tracks in the state. Starting with JC driver Braxten Culley he visited 918 RC Raceway in Tulsa for Round 1 of the “In The Dirt” Series. He reports that he would double down in the win column in both the 1/8 Electric and Nitro Buggy classes! His E Buggy ran Red compound Diamond Bars while his nitro rig used Blue compound Reflex tires.
Our next report was submitted by team driver Shane Wheeler. He recently did some club racing at MOJO Hobby in Oklahoma City and took the W in the Open Sprint class! He used our Green compound Ellipse tires mounted to Mono wheels on all four corners.
The third track we will report on in Oklahoma is Onion Creek in Coffeyville. Team driver Brian Stanton competed there over the weekend in three different classes and made the podium in two of them!
- Midwest Modified = 4th place while running Green compound Ellipses glued to Mono wheels
- Latemodel = 3rd place while running Green compound Ellipses glued to Mono wheels
- 410 Sprint = 2nd place while running Blue compound Ellipses glued to Mono wheels
Now we make a diagonal into Missouri to get an update from team driver Orlando Martinez. He attended Round 2 of the Summer Series at Fastlane Raceway in Blue Springs and reported that he took the TQ and win in both the 17.5 2wd and 13.5 4wd Buggy classes! Both bugs used Dirt Webs up front, Ellipses in the rear, Mono wheels and F2 shells.
Now we head up to Fort Dodge, IA where IORC is located. They just held the 1st Round of their Summer Series and our driver Brandon Kearney competed in three classes:
- Expert 17.5 2wd Buggy
- Mod 2wd Buggy
- Mod 4wd Buggy
He would take the TQ and win in all three while running a plethora of JC gear!

Heading east into Indiana our next report comes to us courtesy of Logan Wendling. He recently competed at Victory RC in Laotto for their Electric Champs race and he took 2nd overall in the 1/8 Electric Buggy class while competing on Blue compound Stalkers and Bullet wheels!
Heading further east we get an update from our friend in Pennsylvania, JC driver Matt Morris. He reports that he raced on the 1/10 outdoor track located at Shaffer’s Full Steam Ahead Hobby Shop in Altoona and finished 5th in Mod 2wd Buggy and 2nd overall in 17.5 2wd Buggy! He used a variety of tires that day on his cars like Ellipses, Sprinters and Rips.
Now we head south into Huntsville, AL to check on the team competing at RC3 (Rocket City Radio Controlled Race Club). Team driver Jamie Spurgin reports that he competed in both the 1/8 Electric Truggy and Buggy classes and finished 2nd in E Buggy and took the TQ and win in E Truggy! His buggy used Green compound Ellipses while his truggy used Gold compound Ellipses.
Also competing at this event in the 1/8 Electric Buggy class was teammate Randy Enger. He was able to take the TQ and win while running a S15 body and Blue compound Kosmos tires!
Now we trek out to Columbia Falls, MT for 1st Summer Points Race at Glacier RC Raceway. Our driver Angus Matheson reported that he competed in the 1/8 Electric Buggy and SCT classes. He would settle for a DNF in the main for E buggy and took the TQ and win in SCT! His E buggy used Green compound Reflex tires and a S15 body while his winning short course truck used Double Dees and a Illuzion Hi-Flow SCT Body.
Heading up to the Pacific Northwest we get this race update from JC driver Brian Phillips. He was competing at Tri-Cities RC Raceway in Pasco, WA took the W in the 1/8 Electric Buggy class while running on Green compound Reflex tires!
Heading down to Cali we get this update from JConcepts driver Derek Stephansen. He said he took the TQ and win in the Expert 17.5 2wd Buggy class at LSR Speedway in Sacramento while running Silver compound Ellipses, a F2 body and a Carpet | Astro High-Clearance 7″ Rear Wing!
Now let’s get a few updates from our international team starting with team driver Kevin Lachapelle. Racing is starting to pick up in Canada so he was able to run some laps at the CTSR (Circuit Téléguidé St-Roch) in Montreal and finished 2nd overall in the 17.5 2wd Buggy class! He was running on sanded down Green compound Dirt Webs and Ellipses along with a Black B6.3 Fin Titanium Turnbuckle Set, F2 body, a Carpet | Astro High-Clearance 7″ Rear Wing and the new B6.3 Carbon Logo and Cargo Net Battery Brace.
Also running laps at this track was teammate Jordan Miles. He competed in two classes and finished 4th in Expert Mod 2wd Buggy and 2nd in Mod 4wd Buggy! He used sanded down Silver compound Ellipse tires on both buggies.
Team driver Ben Panic reported that he attended the King of the Valley race two hours north of Sydney Australia this past weekend. His car was dialed on Blue and Green compound Rehab tires and just missed out on making the final podium spot when the race was over!
Our final update comes from team drivers Sebastien Mure and Clément Boda who were working as a team competing in 1/8 Nitro Buggy class at the WS lines series hosted by the CARCA (Club Automobile Radio Commandée Artésien) track. They qualified 4th overall for the double finals that ran for 20 minutes each after it was said and done they finished 9th overall! They used Pink compound Reflex tires on the multi-surface track and had great results for their 2nd nitro race!
