In this Product Spotlight we will take a closer look at the JConcepts Carbon Logo Cargo Net Battery Brace.
As the name implies, this battery retaining system is comprised of both carbon fiber materials and a ‘cargo net’.
The net is actually made from soft, flexible rubber materials like we use in our Satellite Tire Rubber Bands and Parts Tray.
Molded into the net are some tabs and round hooks that attach to the carbon fiber cradles. The tabs help you to grab it when installing or removing it, and the hooks are used to adjust it for different battery sizes.
These are currently available in nine different colors to customize the look and feel of your car even more, but in this story we will only feature the gray color option.
If you look closely at the cradles you will see that one side is marked with a JC logo while the other side has a flame design. Not only do these designs look sharp but they also help you to distinguish the left side from the right. This will be explained more when we install them later on.
The cradles also have multiple holes already installed into them which will allow a driver to easily reposition their battery packs for a preferred setup. Now, let’s walk through the installation process.
This battery system is currently designed to work with Team Associated’s latest generation of 2wd vehicles like the B6.x, T6.x and SC6.x. So to start with remove the existing battery retaining system.
Again, each cradle features an unique design to help you tell them apart. The right, or passenger side, uses the flame cradle.
The left, or driver’s side, uses the JC cradle. So, both of those special designs will be installed toward the front of the vehicle.
Simply use a 2mm driver to install each cradle into the desired position using the OEM holes in the side rails. Depending on your situation you might be able to use the existing hardware, otherwise we’ve got you covered since also included are four 3x12mm BHCS.
Now, install the battery of your choice.
Then to lock it into place install the rubber netting by securing the tab sides in the back and then stretch the net forward.
You then secure the other side of the net onto the small tabs on the front side of the cradles. What makes this system unique is that you can quickly remove the rubber netting for a battery change without the need of any tools.
Sometimes you will need to work with a battery that is say slightly taller or maybe it has one side that is recessed. In the past that meant you had to raise or lower your entire battery brace or possible the side rails that attach to your battery. But, thanks to the net’s flexibility you can simply stretch it out more or use a different hook location.
To adjust the cradles forward or backward, simply loosen the four screws, slide the cradles, and then lock the screws back into place. This will allow to quickly test new setup options by moving your battery’s weight distribution.
So if you are looking for a way to test different battery positions, perform quick battery changes and add some extra flare to the final look of your car, then the JConcepts Carbon Logo Cargo Net Battery Brace is the perfect option for you!
