In this edition of the JConcepts Friday5 we talk to Colorado team driver, Rob Sturghill!
1. When you first got into RC racing, what pro driver did you look up to and why? Or maybe there was a local/regional driver that you followed?
In 1984 my next door neighbor was a car guy, but also raced RC cars so the hook was in. I started with a Tamiya super champ.
2. When life interferes and you can’t wheel your RC car, how do you quench your thirst for RC? Do you work on your car, listen to a RC podcast, watch some racing videos, read RC magazines or books, etc?
Now that it’s been 30 plus years, there’s just not a lot of time to RC so I have a Traxxas UDR that I punish in the neighborhood.
3. If you have been racing for awhile, what would you say is the number one technology advancement in RC to date AND why?
Technology for RC racing has advanced so much in racing in all aspects. Most impactful in my opinion is brushless motors and LiPo batteries. They have removed so much necessary work and effort we used to have to do peak charging, carrying multiple batteries, etc.
4. In your opinion, when heading to the track what is the JConcepts product that is a must have on race day and why?
The must have JC item on race day, for me it’s the fashionable S2 body. I have them all, but I just prefer the way the car drives with the S2.
5. Name one thing people might be surprised to know about you.
Something people might not know about me, when traveling to races I soak in the hotel bath on main day.
