A new month equals the same old winning results for the JConcepts race team! Read about our winning ways in this week’s Race Team Update!
We start this week’s report over at New Albany, IN where the Hoosier RC Hobbyplex is located. This past weekend they held their 2nd annual Apocalypse trophy race and team driver Justin Green competed at this event in both the 13.5 4wd and 17.5 2wd Buggy classes. He would set the TQ in both classes and go on to take the wins in the mains too! Both classes also featured a special TQ and win payout bonus which netted him an additional $500 for the weekend! He used sanded down Silver compound Ellipses, Mono wheels and RM2 2.2″ Hard inserts on both vehicles. Joining him on the 13.5 wheeler podium was teammate Adam Rayls in 3rd place!
Staying in state we now bounce over to Terre Haute which is home to VCRC Raceway. Due to a rain delay they pushed back their Halloween trophy race to this past weekend. Team driver Ryan Mcclain competed in both the 1/8 Nitro Buggy and Truggy classes and would finish 4th in buggy and 3rd in truggy! Both vehicles ran on Green compound Reflex tires for qualifying before switching over to the Blue compound for the mains. Joining him on the truggy podium in 1st place was JC mate Tyler Jones!
Next, we fly out east for out next report from team driver Eric Bresnahan. He recently competed at a RC drag race event in Connecticut and walked away with the win and a wad of cash while running our 1966 Chevy II Nova (V2) body and Hotties tires!
Moving down the coast we stop in at The Track in Gaithersburg, MD. JC driver Mark Unrath recently competed there for Round 1 of the USRC Championship Winter 1/10 Series in the 13.5 4wd Buggy class. He would just miss out making the final podium spot for the day as he finished in 4th place while running on Ellipse tires and Mono wheels!
Heading south into Georgia our next stop in the city of Loganville where the Loganville RC Complex is situated. They too held their Halloween Bash trophy race this past weekend and our driver Mark Moon was in attendance. He reports that he competed in the 1/8 Pro Electric Buggy class and took the TQ and win!
Shooting over to Texas we stop in at Thornhill Racing Circuit in Hutto. This past weekend the finals for the 2021 RC Pro Series was held there, and after all the points were calculated team driver Dillon Caldwell would finish 3rd in the 1/8 Electric Buggy class and 2nd overall in the 1/8 Nitro Buggy class! For the finals he used our Detox tires in the Blue compound.
Our next stop is at Omaha, NE where the HobbyTown USA HobbyPlex (The Plex) is located. This past weekend they ran the 1st round of their Winter Series which saw 239 entries! We had several drivers competing at this event so let’s how the team finished starting with JC driver Ashton Abdul.
He competed in both the 1/8 Expert Nitro and Electric Buggy classes and would just miss out on the podium in both by finishing 4th while running fast on Gold compound Ellipse tires!
Teammate Brandon Kearney also competed in the 1/8 Expert Electric Buggy class and would finish strong in 10th place for the round! He used a variety of JC goods on his vehicle:
- Gold compound Ellipse tires
- Bullet wheels
- S15 body
- F2I wing
Teammate Will Brinton also competed in the e buggy class and would finish 5th for the day while running on the same tire setup! He also competed in the Gas Truck class and would set the TQ and take the win while running on Gold compound Ellipses in both the front and rear, the F2 body in the lightweight option and a B6 | B6D | B6.1 Servo Mount Bracket!
JC driver Bradley Peterson ran in the 1/8 Expert Nitro Buggy class and would finish in 5th place! His car was running strong on Gold compound Ellipses, a F2I wing and S15 body.
Team driver Mason Fuller competed in both the 1/8 Expert Nitro and Electric Buggy classes and would double down on wins in both of them while running fast on Gold compound Ellipse treads!
Heading north we open up The Toy Box R/C Track in New Richmond, WI. This past weekend they held their first points race of the season and team driver Tony Sletten reported that he took the TQ and W in the Mod 2wd Buggy class! His winning car used Gold compound Dirt Webs in the front, Ellipses in the same compound in the rear, Mono wheels and a F2 body.
Staying in Wisconsin let’s now head to Brookfield and stop in at Trackside Hobbies & Raceway. This past weekend they hosted the 2021 Team Associated Off-Road Championship Race which netted 329 entries! We had numerous drivers in attendance so let’s see how the team performed starting with team driver Ryan Derenne.
He competed in the 13.5 4wd Buggy class and would finish 59th for the event in what ended up being the biggest class of the weekend! His wheeler rocked our F2 body and sanded down Silver compound Ellipse tires. He also raced in the 40+ Mod 2wd Buggy class and placed 23rd overall while using a P2 body and the same tire setup! And he also ran in the 13.5 Stadium Truck class and finished 15th overall while running on sanded Silver compound Ellipses plus a Finnisher shell!
Also racing at this event was teammate Richie Peters who competed in both the 17.5 and Mod 2wd Buggy classes. In Mod 2wd he would end up 21st, while in 17.5 buggy he would secure 13th place! Both vehicles ran on slicked out Silver compound Dirt Webs and Ellipse tires glued to Mono wheels.
Flying out west to Tacoma R/C Raceway in Tacoma, WA we get our next report from team driver Austin Cracknell. This past weekend was the opening round of the 2021-2022 NIS and he would finish 2nd plus set the TQ in the Mod wheeler class, while in the Mod 2wd Buggy class he would grab another TQ plus the win! Both bugs used Gold Compound Ellipses and joining him on the Mod 2wd podium in 2nd place was teammate Harley Yoshii!
Now let’s get some updates from our international team who recently competed at a club race held at CTSR (Circuit Téléguidé St-Roch) in Saint-Roch-de-l’Achigan, QC, Canada.
Starting with JC driver Kevin Lachapelle he reports that he finished in 4th place in Stadium Truck and 2nd overall in 17.5 2wd Buggy! Both cars ran on Silver compound Ellipses along with a Finnisher shell on the truck and P2 body on the buggy.
Teammate Xavier Belanger also attended this race and ran in the Mod 2wd and 4wd Buggy classes. He would finish 2nd overall in both while running F2 bodies and Silver compound Ellipse and Dirt Webs tires!
JC mate Steve Seguin also threw laps down at this race in both the Mod 2wd and 4wd Buggy classes. In Mod 2wd he would finish a solid 8th place for the night while running on Silver compound Ellipses, and in the Mod 4wd Buggy class he would finish in 5th place overall with the same tire setup!
Finally, JConcepts driver Brian Ross also ran in these 2 classes setting the TQ in both! In the mains he had some bad luck in Mod wheeler as he had to retire early, but still finished strong in 6th place! But luck was on his side in Mod 2wd as he would take the win and both cars used Silver compound Ellipses! Joining him on the Mod 2wd podium in 2nd was teammate Xavier Belanger along with JC driver Guillaume Tremblay in 3rd to complete the JC sweep!
