The JConcepts race team continues to treat themselves to podium finishes while tricking the competition at the same time which you can read for yourself in this spooky edition of the Race Team Update!
We begin this week’s race report in Wytheville, VA for the Blue Ridge Nationals. This event took place over the weekend and let’s see how the team performed starting with team driver Tom Petrella.
He reported that he competed in both the 1/8 40+ and Open Nitro Buggy classes. He would finish 7th for the weekend in nitro buggy and 3rd overall in 40+ buggy! For round 1 of qualifying he ran on Green compound Ellipses, switched to Silver compound ReHabs for round 2, then finally settled on Silver compound Ellipses for the rest of the event. He also used a S15 body as well.
Teammate Bella Rogers competed in both the 1/8 Open Electric Buggy and Truggy classes at this race. After trying different tire combinations during qualifying she was head over heels on our Green compound Reflex tires as she went on to finish 3rd in e truggy and 1st in e buggy!
Also racing at this event was JCon driver David Olsen in both the 1/8 Open Electric Truggy and Pro Electric Buggy classes. He would lock in the TQ for both and after the mains were ran he would finish 8th in truggy and 2nd place in buggy! His e truggy used Green compound Reflex tires while his e buggy rocked Silver compound ReHabs. Joining him on the Pro Electric Buggy podium in 1st place was teammate Bryan Kata! He also competed in the 1/8 Pro Nitro Buggy class and would finish 4th overall while running on Silver compound ReHabs along with a S15 body!
JC driver Jonah Wilson also raced at this event in three different classes. In the 1/8 Pro Nitro Buggy class he qualified 2nd for the finals but dropped out early with a DNF. In the 1/8 Pro Electric Buggy class he would just miss out on the podium by finishing 4th overall. His luck would change in the 1/8 Open Electric Truggy class as he finished 2nd on the podium!
Now we move down the coast to Thunder Alley RC Speedway in Lucama, NC. This past weekend they held race #4 in the Ros Points Series and our driver Luis Diego let us know that he took the double TQ and win in both the Mini Truggy and Pro4 SCT classes!
His mini truggy used Gold compound Octagon tires while his Pro4 utilized Dirt Webs in the same compound. Both trucks also used a Finnisher body too.
Dipping into South Carolina we head over to the town of Moncks Corner for our next update.
Team driver Patrick Rossiter Jr. recently went to Moncks Corner Raceway to compete in their 2021 Halloween Club Race and made the podium in three different classes!
- TQ and 1st in Pro2 SCT using Green compound Sprinter tires on Hazard wheels and the HF2 body in the lightweight option
- TQ and 2nd in 1/8 Pro Electric Buggy using Green compound Reflex tires on Bullet wheels
- TQ and 1st in 1/8 Electric Truggy using Green compound Reflex tires
Marching into Georgia we stop in at the HobbyTown Columbus track in the city of Columbus. This past weekend they held 8th Annual Grand SLAM trophy race and let’s see how the team did starting with team driver Jason Westfall.
He reported that he finished 2nd in both the Mod 4wd Buggy and Stadium Truck classes! He used a Finnisher shell on the truck, a F2 body on the wheeler and both rigs used slicked out Silver compound Ellipse tires.
Also running at this event was teammate Chris VanRaemdonck. He competed in the Mod 2wd Buggy class and would finish 3rd for the day while running on sanded Blue compound Ellipse tires, Mono wheels and a S2 body and a Carpet | Astro High-Clearance 7″ Rear Wing! He also dusted off his ‘vintage’ SC10.2 to compete in the Pro2 SCT class and would take the TQ and win while using a Nissan Titan body, Hazard wheels and sanded down Green compound Ellipses tires!
Moving further south we stop at Cocoa, FL where Beachline Raceway is located. The 6th and final round of their Wednesday Night World’s Point Series was recently held, and our driver Brett Kingsbury competed in both the Expert Stock 2wd and 13.5 4wd Buggy classes.
After the points were calculated he would take 1st place in both classes while using Fuzz Bite tires and F2 bodies!
Next, let’s make the grand journey to Grandville, MI where Grand River RC is located. This past weekend they held their Halloween Spooktacular Race which included a costume and pumpkin carving contest! Team driver Chris Rothwell competed in the 13.5 4wd, 17.5 2wd and 40+ 17.5 2wd Buggy classes. He would triple up in all three buggy classes with a first place finish which included a TQ in the 40+ class! He also used sanded down Silver compound Ellipses on all four corners for all three classes too.
Also competing at this event was teammate Kyle Munson in the 17.5 2wd Buggy class. Kyle finished 3rd while running a F2 body and sanded down Silver compound Ellipses!
Now let’s make a left turn down to Yukon, OK where Taylor Park RC Raceway is located. This past weekend they held their 7th Annual Nightmare On Dirt event which saw over 100 entries! Let’s check in with the team to see how they performed starting with team driver Heath Lawson.
He competed in the Outlaw Sprint class and bumped up from the C Main to finish 3rd in the B main and just missed out on the transfer spot! But he still had a good time and was running fast on Green compound Ellipses mounted to Mono wheels!
Teammate Tyler Keel was also in attendance and raced in the Outlaw Sprint and Midwest Modified classes. He would go on to finish 2nd on the podium in the Midwest Modified class took the W in the Outlaw Sprint class! He ran on Green compound Dirt Webs and Ellipses.
Teammate Shane Wheeler competed in the Outlaw Sprint and Late Model classes too. He didn’t have best of luck in the Outlaw Sprint class when he got tangled up in a wreck, but he would finish 2nd overall in the Late Model class! Both cars were also running on Green compound Dirt Webs up front with Ellipses in the rear.
Our next stop is at Eaton’s Intermountain RC Raceway in Salt Lake City, UT. This past weekend they held their 14th Annual Halloween Havoc Race and JC driver Ron Chirrick competed in two truck classes, Masters and 17.5 Stadium Truck. He would take the TQ and win in Masters and also another W in the 17.5 class! He said both trucks used a Finnisher body plus Gold compound Octagons on all four corners.
Now let’s fly over to sunny California to get some racing updates from the team competing at several events through out the state. Starting with team driver Jeremy Bunting he let us know that he recently raced at the ‘Boneyard Madness’ monster truck race held in Menifee. This event also included Halloween themed lights, music, and obstacles.
He said even though he didn’t take home the win he still had a great time competing with his ‘Titan’ monster truck decked out with Renegade tires, Tribute rims, Tribute Wheel Mock Beadlock Rings and a 2005 Chevy 1500 MT Single Cab body!
Our next stop is in the city of Sacramento where LSR Speedway is located. This past weekend they held their 7th Annual Halloween Race and team driver Lucas Wedsted reports that he took the double TQ and win in the Expert 17.5 2wd Buggy and Stadium Truck classes! Both cars used Silver compound Ellipses, F2 shells and Mono wheels.
Also competing at this race was teammate Rob Moots in the 40+ 2wd Buggy class. He would go on to take the TQ and win while running on ghosted Silver compound Ellipses in the rear, Silver compound Dirt Webs in the front, plus a Carpet | Astro High-Clearance 7″ Rear Wing!
Our last stop is at SDRC Raceway in San Diego. Friday night they held a special Halloween trophy event and team driver Mike Sorchy was in attendance. He competed in three classes and podiumed in all three of them!
- Open 2wd Buggy = 1st place while using a S2 body, a Carpet | Astro High-Clearance 7″ Rear Wing, Silver compound Ellipses sanded to slicks along with RM2 foams
- Expert 17.5 2wd Buggy = 2nd place while using a S2 body, a Carpet | Astro High-Clearance 7″ Rear Wing, Silver compound Ellipses sanded to slicks along with RM2 foams
- 13.5 4wd Buggy = 3rd place while using a F2 body, a Carpet | Astro High-Clearance 7″ Rear Wing, Silver compound Ellipses sanded to slicks along with RM2 foams
Finally, JC driver John Caudillo also ran at this special event competing in the 13.5 2wd SCT class, and would lock up the final podium spot while running on Gold compound Octagons, Hazard wheels and a HF2 body!
