It might be a new year, but it is the same old story as the JConcepts race team continues to dominate out on the race track. Read about our winning ways in this fresh edition of the Race Team Update!
We start this week’s report in Knoxville, TN where ROCCK Racing is situated. They recently held their Disco Brawl race event which saw nearly 190 entries competing in 12 different classes! The competition was barely staying alive as the JConcepts team was out in full force. Starting with team driver Bella Rogers she reported that she competed in both the 1/8 Electric Buggy and Truggy classes and would finish 5th in buggy and 2nd place in truggy! Her buggy used Blue compound Rehab tires for A1 and in A2 she switched over to the Silver compound. On her trug she used Green compound Reflex tires for A1 and opted for Gold compound Ellipses in A2. She also utilized S15 and Finnisher bodies for the event.
Also competing at this event was teammate Jonah Wilson in the same two classes plus 1/8 Nitro Buggy. In e buggy he would lock up the TQ and finished 2nd overall while running on Silver compound Ellipses! In e truggy he would capture his 2nd TQ and go on to take the W while using Green compound Reflexes! And in nitro buggy he would snag his 3rd TQ of the event and finish 2nd overall while using Gold compound Ellipses!
JC driver Brad Collins not only called the races that weekend, but he also competed in the 1/8 Nitro Truggy class too. He would take the TQ and win while running on Gold compound Ellipses plus a F2 body! Joining him on the podium in 2nd place was teammate Coty Ingram!
Now we head to OnTrack Raceway in Theodore, AL for our next report from team driver Phi-Long Nguyen. His 13.5 4wd Buggy was on point as he would take the win while running a lightweight F2 body and Blue compound Ellipse tires! Joining him on the podium in 2nd place was teammate Cameron Breaux!
Heading further south into Florida we stop in at Ocala where Newred Hobbies is located. Team driver Vince McMahon reports that for the end of 2021 the track held a mini point series that ran on consecutive Thursdays. He competed in the 13.5 4wd and 17.5 2wd Buggy classes and would finish 2nd in wheeler and take the win in 17.5! Both bugs used Gold compound Octagons on Mono wheels along with Carpet | Astro High-Clearance 7″ Rear Wings.
Heading up the coast let’s stop in North Carolina for a few updates from the team competing at World of RC in Lucama.
Starting with team driver Josh Parrish he recently went to their Beast of the East Warmup Race and he would finish 3rd in 1/8 Electric Buggy while running Silver compound Rehabs, Bullet wheels and a S15 body! He would also take the win in the 13.5 4wd Buggy class while running Silver compound Octagons and a F2 shell!
Also running at this race was teammate Danny Stockman in the 1/8 Pro Nitro Buggy class. He would finish 5th overall while using Green compound Ellipse tires and a S15 body!
Heading further northeast we get our next report from JConcepts driver Chris Wolfson. He recently put some laps down at TR Speedway in Trafford, PA for their New Year’s Eve race and would just miss the bump into the A Main for 17.5 2wd Buggy while running on Fuzz Bite tires!
Now we head back west to Wisconsin for a few updates from the team competing at different tracks. Our first stop is at New Franken where Dirt Heaven Hobby and Raceway is located.
Team driver Ryan Derenne recently competed there on a fresh, new layout in three different classes and put in some solid results in all of them!
- 40+ Super Stock Buggy = TQ and 1st while using Silver compound Ellipses, Mono rims and a P2 body
- Mod Stadium Truck = 5th while using Silver compound Ellipses and a Finnisher body
- mod 4wd Buggy = 5th while using Silver compound Ellipses, Mono rims and a S2 body
Also running at this track was JC mate Richie Peters in the 17.5 2wd and Mod Buggy classes. He would double down and take the TQ and win in both classes while using Silver compound Dirt Webs and Ellipses along with F2 bodies!
Our next stop is at Trackside Hobbies & Raceway in Brookfield. Team driver Chris Rothwell made the four hour trip to race there over the holiday break and competed in the 13.5 4wd and 17.5 2wd Buggy classes.
In wheeler he would finish 14th overall and in 17.5 he would lock up 7th place! Both vehicles used slicked out Silver compound Ellipses, Mono wheels, and P2 and S2 bodies.
Team driver Joe Scaramell recently competed at a few tracks in numerous states, but his first report comes from the Toy Box in New Richmond, WI. He would finish 3rd overall in the 13.5 4wd Buggy class and 2nd place in 17.5 2wd Buggy! He used Silver compound Ellipses on both cars. Then he crossed back over into Minnesota to compete at 510 Raceway in Foley to race in the same two classes. He would just miss out on the podium in the 13.5 4wd Buggy class and take the win in the 17.5 2wd Buggy class! Both cars used Gold compound Ellipses at this race track.
Staying in Minnesota let’s get our next update from team driver Thor Ott. He recently visited Dollar Hobbyz in Woodbury and dropped the hammer as he took the TQ and win in the 17.5 2wd Buggy class while running fast on Fuzz Bites and a S2 shell!
Heading south on I-35 we head to Fort Dodge, IA for this update from team driver David Peavler. He recently visited IORC to lay the SmackDown at their recent Holiday Rumble event in the Mod 4wd and 40+ 2wd Buggy classes. In wheeler he would finish 2nd for the day and in the 40+ class he would take the TQ and win while using the following gear:
- Fuzz Bite tires
- Swaggers tires
- Mono wheels
- P2K body
Now we head to the ‘Land of Lincoln’ to get our next update. Team driver Brayden Billington recently visited CRC Hobbies in East Peoria for some club racing and took three TQs and wins in the following classes!
- 17.5 2wd Buggy = Swaggers
- 13.5 4wd Buggy = Twin Pins
- 1/10 Truggy = Swaggers and Pin Downs
Heading to the ‘Show Me State’ we get our next update from team driver Brad Dean. He recently visited SmacTrac in St. Charles, MO for a New Year’s Day club race and took the double TQ and win in the Mod 2wd and 4wd Buggy classes! His winning rides used Smoothies 2 tires, RM2 Hard inserts, Mono wheels and F2 bodies.
Heading south we now visit GS Hobby in Barling, AR for this next report from JC driver Braden Bruce. He recently attended their 2022 Hangover event which saw nearly 150 entries with 12 classes to compete in! He would compete in the Mod 4wd Buggy class and finished 3rd for the day while running Fuzz Bites in the rear with Swaggers up front!
Heading west into Oklahoma we next stop at 405 RC Raceway in Oklahoma City. Team driver Joel Rodriguez recently made the 3.5 hour trip to this facility for some club racing and the trip was worth it as he took the win in the Expert 17.5 2wd Buggy class while running on Fuzz Bite tires!
Now let’s shoot down to Texas for a few updates from the team. Starting with Mike Stoll he recently competed at GoldStar Hobbies and Raceway in Arlington for a New Year’s Day club race in the 17.5 2wd and 13.5 4wd Buggy classes. He would double up with TQ and wins in both classes while using Fuzz Bite tires and P2K and F2 shells!
Heading to Hutto where Thornhill Racing is located our next update comes to us courtesy of team driver Tyler Hooks. He competed at their recent New Year’s race and would finish 2nd in 1/8 Nitro Buggy and 1st place in 1/8 Electric Buggy! He said he used a S15 shell along with Green compound Reflex and Teazers tires.
Now we move to Mike’s Gulf Coast RC Raceway in Porter for our final updates from the team. Starting with JC driver Cody Babbitt he competed in their morning Dirt Oval event and would take the TQ and win in the Midwest Mod class while running on Blue compound Sprinters and Mono wheels. Joining him on the podium in 2nd place was teammate Brian Germany!
Speaking of Brian, he also competed in the later session of off-road racing held at this facility too. He entered in the 1/8 Nitro Buggy class and finished 3rd overall while running on Blue compound Stalkers!
