The first full week of racing in April is now complete, and the JConcepts race team continues to compete at numerous tracks around the globe which you can read for yourself in this fresh edition of the Race Team Update!
We start this week’s race report out in Washington as the team was competing at a few events in the state. Up first is team driver Cole Chura who reported that he went to the Evergreen State Fairgrounds in Monroe this past weekend. This site was host to the NW Model Hobby Expo which included an off-road carpet race event. That event drew in 223 entries for the DieHard RC Experience Championship and the PNW Interstate Series!
He competed in the 13.5 4wd Buggy class and took the TQ and win while using Pin Swag and Fuzz Bite tires plus a S2 shell!
Heading to Tacoma we catch up with team driver Austin Cracknell who competed at the finals for the 2021-2022 NIS Series at Tacoma RC Raceway. In the Mod 2wd Buggy class he would set the TQ and take the win that day while running on Silver compound Smoothie 2 tires plus RM2 Hard Inserts! He also set the TQ in the Mod 4wd Buggy class and would go on to take the win at the finals while using the same tire and foam setup! After the season points were calculated he would finish 2nd overall in Mod 4wd and 1st place in Mod 2wd!
Now we head down to California to get a few updates from the team competing different events in the state. Starting with team driver Jeremy Bunting he recently went to the Rescue Community Center R/C Track in the town of Rescue for Round 1 of the Nor Cal R-C Monster Trucks Points Series.
He set the TQ and took the win in the 2.2″ class with his Crash Test Dummy truck that used a 2020 Ford Raptor clear body, Midwest 2.2″ MT Wheels and Renegades Jr 2.2″ tires!
He also made the finals in the Retro class with his Shotgun truck that used a Regulator chassis conversion kit, Golden Years Monster Truck tires, Tribute Monster Truck wheels, a Silent Speed 27T Brushed Fixed End Bell Competition Motor and a 1989 Ford F-250 Monster Truck body!
Our next stop in the state is at Rain-Man’s Hobby and Raceway in Bakersfield. This past weekend they were host to Round 1 of the JBRL 1/10 Off-Road Series and JConcepts driver Chris Raymond took the win in the 13.5 SCT class while racing on Silver compound Ellipses, Hazard wheels and a HF2 body!
Also competing at this event was his teammate Rob Moots in the 40+ 17.5 2wd Buggy and 13.5 SCT classes. In the SCT class he would finish 5th for the day while in the 40+ 17.5 class he would finish 4th overall! His SCT used a Hi-Flo body, Hazard wheels and Ellipses tires. His 2wd buggy used a F2 body, a Carpet | Astro High-Clearance 7″ Rear Wing, Mono wheels and Smoothie 2 tires.
Now we shoot over to Texas for a few more updates from the team competing at various tracks in the state. Our first report comes to us courtesy of team driver Billy DiCorte Jr. who recently competed at Speegleville Speedway in Waco.
He would take the win in the 1/8 Electric Buggy class while competing on Blue compound Kosmos tires, Bullet wheels and a S15 shell!
Next, we head to N-Control Racing Circuit in Dale who recently hosted Round 2 of the RC Pro Series Dirt Oval Championship. Team driver Cody Babbitt competed in four different classes for this event. He would set the TQ and finish 2nd in Midwest Mod, qualify 3rd and drop out of the main with a DNF in the Outlaw Sprint class, set the TQ and end on a DNF in the main for the SC Mod class, and finally set the TQ and take the win in the 10.5 Sprint Car class! All vehicles used Aqua compound ReHab tires and he also earns our coveted ‘ironman’ award for the week!
Also competing at this oval event was teammate Brian Germany in the Midwest Mod class where he finished 3rd while using Aqua compound Dirt Webs up front and Ellipses in the rear!
Heading north into Oklahoma we stop in at Shaw’s RC Track in Ardmore. They recently hosted Round 3 of the Red River Shootout Series and JC driver Hunter La Flower reported that he took the win in the 1/8 Pro Nitro Buggy class while competing on Green compound Stalkers mounted to Bullet wheels plus a S15 body! Joining him on the podium in 2nd place was teammate Micah Smith!
His JC mate Randy Lathrop also competed at this event in the 1/8 Electric Truggy class. He would start in 3rd for the main and then go on to take the win while using Blue compound Triple Dees!
Veering Northeast into the “Show Me State” we stop in at Kirkwood where the St. Louis Dirt Burners track is located. This past weekend they held their season opener event and the JConcepts team was ready for action. Starting with team driver Connor Light he reported that he finished 5th for the event in the 1/8 Pro Nitro Buggy class while running on Blue compound Stackers and Green compound Blockers!
Also competing at the season opener was team driver Brad Dean. He started 2nd on the grid for the 1/8 Pro Nitro Buggy class and would go on to take the win while using Green compound Reflex tires, Bullet wheels and a P1 body!
JC driver Charles Day competed in the 1/8 Electric Buggy class and took the win while using Green compound Triple Dees!
Heading down to Steve Raddatz Memorial Raceway in Tuscumbia, AL let’s now check in with team driver Will Scott. He recently raced there for their season opener and competed in the Mod 4wd Buggy and 1/8 Electric Truggy classes.
He would finish in 6th place for the truggy main and locked up 2nd overall in mod wheeler! His trug used Triple Dee tires and a Finnisher body while his wheeler used Sprinters in the front and Double Dees in the rear.
Dropping down further south we now find ourselves at Coral Springs RC Track in Coral Springs, FL. This past weekend they hosted Race #6 of the MAYHEM IV Series and team driver Reuben Diaz was there to compete in two different classes.
He entered in both the 17.5 2wd and Mod 4wd Buggy classes and would take the TQ and W in both!
Heading up the coastline we get our next report from team driver Ennis Graves. He recently traveled to ERC Raceway in Easley, SC to compete at the SOS warm-up race held there. After the event had wrapped up for the day he would take the win in the 1/8 Pro Nitro Buggy class while competing with Silver compound ReHab tires!
Jumping across the state line into North Carolina we head to the city of Salisbury where Overcash RC Raceway. They recently hosted the NC SCT Challenge Series and team driver Robert Meyer Jr. competed in the 1/8 Electric Buggy and Truggy classes. He would take the win in the truggy class while using Gold compound Dirt Webs and also snagged the TQ and win in the e buggy class while rolling on Silver compound ReHabs!
Heading further into the Northeast we stop in at LCRC Raceway in Oakland Mills, PA. They too also held a season opener event that saw over 230 entries! Team driver Aydan Manchanda competed in the 1/8 Expert Electric Buggy class and just missed out making the podium while racing on Green compound Reflex tires in the front with Black compound Reflex tires in the rear!
He fellow JC driver Dylan Manchanda also competed at this event in 1/8 Expert Nitro Buggy class. He wasn’t able to transfer to the A Main but his car was still running great while using the same tire combination as Aydan!
Also competing at this season opener was teammate Tom Petrella in the 40+ 1/8 Nitro and Electric Buggy classes. He would finish 3rd in the nitro buggy class while racing on Green compound Ellipses and took 2nd place in the e buggy class while competing with Black compound Reflex tires! Both buggies also used S15 shells and Bullet wheels.
Continuing over to Enfield, CT let’s stop in at RC Madness for our next report from team driver Eric Bresnahan. He recently competed at their season opener which saw over 100 entries! He competed in the Mod Stadium Truck and Short Course Truck classes and would double down with a TQ and win in both! He used Swaggers and Pin Down tires plus HF2 and Finnisher bodies.
Now we fly back west to Trackside Hobbies & Raceway in Brookfield, WI. This past weekend they held their US Buggy Championships event which saw over 260 entries! Team driver Ryan Derenne competed in both the 13.5 4wd and 40+ Mod 2wd Buggy classes. He wouldn’t make the bump into the A Main for either class but still had a great time racing while using Silver compound Smoothie 2 tires and P2 bodies!
Also racing at this event was JC driver Richie Peters in the 17.5 and Mod 2wd Buggy classes. In modified he would finish a solid 7th overall and in the 17.5 class he locked up the 5th and final podium position! His cars ran the following gear that weekend:
- Silver compound Dirt Webs
- Silver compound Ellipses sanded to slick
- RM2 2.2″ Hard Front Inserts
- Finnisher body
- B6.3 Front Wing
- Carpet | Astro High-Clearance 6.5″ Rear Wing
Crossing over to the “Land of 10,000 Lakes” we splash down at 510 Raceway in Foley, MN. This past weekend was the finals for their Winter Series and team driver Christopher Malooly ended the series on a high note. For the finals he finished 2nd overall in the Mod 4wd Buggy class and took the TQ and win in the 13.5 4wd Buggy class! After the season points were tabulated he would finish on the podium in both classes which included 1st overall in 13.5 4wd! For the finals he used Silver compound Ellipse tires.
Also competing at the finals was JC teammate Thor Ott in the Mod 2wd Buggy class. He was able to win at 3 of the 5 rounds in this class which locked in the series title for him in this class! Aiding him along the way were Silver compound Ellipses and a P2 body.
Now let’s get a few updates from our international team starting with team driver Randy Enger. This past weekend he competed at Circuito CRVV Vallecas in Villa de Vallecas, Spain in the 1/8 Electric Buggy class.
He qualified 5th overall for the AAA mains and after they were all ran he would secure 3rd place for the race while using Blue compound Triple Dees and a S15 body!
Our final report comes to us from team driver Clément Boda and Sebastien Mure. They recently attended the 2nd Round of the 1/10 French Championships in Avesnes-sur-Helpe in the north of France. Clément would set the TQ in both the Mod 2wd and 4wd Buggy classes and go on to take 2nd in Mod 2wd and the win in Mod 4wd! Both of his cars used Mono wheels and F2 bodies.
