As July comes to an end there is no stopping the JConcepts race team as they stay red hot on tracks around the globe! See where we were on fire at in this scorching edition of the Race Team Update!
We start this week’s report out in sunny California where the team was competing at a few different events throughout the state. Starting with team driver Joseph Levin he recently went to LSR Speedway in Sacramento to compete at their 2nd Annual Sizzling Summer Shootout in both the Expert 17.5 2wd and Expert 13.5 4wd Buggy classes. He would set the TQ in both and finish 2nd in 13.5 and took the win in the 17.5 class! He used the following gear on both of his vehicles:
- Silver compound Ellipses sanded to slicks
- RM2 2.2″ Hard 2wd | 4wd Front Inserts
- Black Fin Titanium Turnbuckle Set
- F2 body in the lightweight option
- Carpet | Astro High-Clearance 6.5″ Rear Wing
Our next stop in Cali is in the city of Camarillo where Freedom Park Raceway is located. They recently hosted Round 4 of the JBRL 1/10 Scale Off-Road Series which saw over 125 entries! Team driver Jeff Guest competed in the 40+ 17.5 2wd Buggy class and set the TQ and took the W while using Aqua compound ReHabs!
His teammate Chris Raymond finished 3rd in this class along with another 3rd place finish in 2wd Short Course Truck! He also used the same tire setup on his buggy along with a F2 lid and an Aero S-Type 7″ Rear Wing.
JC driver Austin Riley also competed at this event. He would finish 11th overall in the Expert 17.5 2wd Buggy class, and he also bumped in the A Main for Expert 13.5 4wd Buggy and finished in 8th! Both bugs used Aqua compound Ellipses and ReHabs on Mono wheels.
JConcepts driver Mike Sorchy reports that he finished 7th in Expert 17.5 2wd Buggy and 3rd place in Mod 2wd Buggy! He used ReHabs for the entire event, but started on the Blue compound in the morning and once the sun came out he switched over to the Aqua compound.
Now we move over to Munday RC Raceway in Post Falls, ID for our next team report. JConcepts driver Jacob Hudson recently visited there to compete at Round 4 of the (NCT) Northwest Championship Tour which hosted over 200 entries! He competed in both the 1/8 Nitro Buggy and Truggy classes and finished 13th in buggy after a rough A Main, and secured 2nd overall in the truggy class! His buggy used Aqua 2 compound Reflex tires and a F2I wing and S15 shell, while his truggy used Blue compound Reflex tires, a F2I wing and a F2 truck body. Joining him on the nitro truggy podium in 4th place was fellow JC driver MCcoy Starkey!
Also competing there was his teammate Shane Preugschat in the 40+ 1/8 Nitro Buggy class. After the dust had settled he would finish 2nd overall!
Continuing east let’s now head up to the Lake Superior RC Car Club in Proctor, MN for our next tour stop. This club recently put on the 2022 Minnesota Off-Road State Championships and team driver Joe Scaramell was there to compete in three different classes.
He would finish 7th in 1/8 Electric Buggy and locked up the final podium spot in both the 1/8 Nitro Buggy and Truggy classes! He used our Blue compound Reflex tires on both his nitro truggy and e buggy while his nitro buggy started on the same tire before switching over to Rehabs in the same compound.
Jumping the border we make our way over to the state of Wisconsin for a few updates from team driver Richie Peters. This past weekend he competed at two different dirt oval tracks starting with Dirt Heaven Hobby and Raceway in New Franken on Saturday. He would set the TQ and lap the entire field twice as he took the win in the 13.5 Sprint class! His car was running fast on Green compound Sprinters glued to Mono rims. Then on Sunday he went to Attitude RC Raceway in Waupun and set the TQ once again! Unfortunately he had some bad luck in the main as he would settle for 3rd overall but still had a good time as his car was running fast on 9-Shot rims!
Now we make our way down to Omaha, NE where the HobbyTown USA HobbyPlex (The Plex) is located. This past weekend was Round #3 of their Summer Series which saw over 200 entries! Starting with team driver Riley Filbert he reported that he finished 6th in Mod 2wd Buggy and also collected the TQ and win in the Expert 17.5 2wd Buggy class! His cars used F2 shells, Mono wheels and Silver compound Smoothie 2 tires.
Also competing at this past round was JC driver Brandon Kearney. He finished 8th in Mod 2wd and 5th in Mod 4wd Buggy! He used F2 bodies, Gold compound Ellipses, Mono wheels and Carpet | Astro High-Clearance 7″ Rear Wings.
Team driver Will Brinton checked in to let us know that he finished just off the podium in Mod 2wd Buggy, and took the TQ and win in the 13.5 Stadium Truck class! His buggy used Silver compound Smoothie 2 tires while his winning truck used Gold compound Ellipses. Joining him on the truck podium in 2nd place was fellow JConcepts driver Emerson Sturgeon!
Team driver Drew Rubenking competed in both the Mod 2wd and 4wd Buggy classes. In Mod 2wd he would finish 2nd for the day while in wheeler he took the win! Both cars used sanded down Silver compound Ellipses and joining him on the Mod 4wd Buggy podium was teammate Alex Vanderbeek in 3rd place!
Team driver, and Plex race director, Alex Sturgeon also competed in two classes at this recent round. He would set the TQ and take the double win in both the 40+ Mod 2wd and 13.5 4wd Buggy classes! He used Silver compound Smoothie 2 tires on all four corners of his vehicles, and joining him on the 40+ podium in 2nd place was fellow JConcepts driver Mack Vanderbeek!
JC driver David Fast also competed in the 40+ Mod 2wd Buggy class and finished 8th overall, while in the 13.5 Stadium Truck class he secured 5th place! He used Silver compound Smoothie 2 tires on his buggy while his truck utilized Gold compound Ellipses.
JComcepts driver Ken Peterson let us know that he finished 7th in 40+ Mod 2wd and Expert 17.5 2wd Buggy while rolling on Silver compound Smoothie 2 tires for the event!
Sending it south into Kansas we stop in at Onion Creek RC in the city of Coffeyville. Team driver Brian Stanton competed there at a recent dirt oval event in three different classes and finished 2nd in 410 Sprint, and took the TQ and win in both the Late Model and Midwest Modified classes!
All of his vehicles used Dirt Webs up front with Ellipses in the rear. His Midwest Modified ride used the Green compound while his other two cars used our Blue compound.
Staying in the state we now check in with team driver Jeremy Cathlina who recently competed at the 2022 Kansas Dirt Oval Championships at Checkered Flag Raceway in Bonner Springs.
He competed in both the Sprint Car and 10.5 Late Model classes and finished on top of the podium in both while using Gold compound Ellipses and Dirt Webs glued to 9-Shot wheels!
Continuing our march south let’s check in with team driver Heath Lawson who recently competed at Race Place RC in Norman OK for their Layout Payout event. He would reset the track record, take the win and collect a cash purse in the 21.5 Touring Car class while using our A2R body!
Shooting down to Texas let’s catch up with JC driver Mikey Chiudioni. He and his son Mikey recently traveled to Raceparty RC Track in El Paso for Round #4 of their Race Party Series. Mikey senior would set the TQ and take the win in the Expert 1/8 Nitro Buggy class, while Mikey junior would set the TQ and take the win in the Intermediate 1/8 Electric Buggy class!
Both drivers used Silencer shells and Mikey senior used Blue compound Stalkers while Mikey junior used Red compound Kosmos tires.
Moving east now we check in with team driver William Ables who recently competed at the 2022 Bring The Heat event held at Saratoga-Flowood RC Raceway in Magee, MS. He competed in the Pro 1/8 Electric Buggy and Truggy classes and would finish 3rd in buggy and 2nd in truggy! His e buggy used Green and Blue compound Reflex tires while his truggy used only the Blue compound.
Let’s now make a pit stop in Mount Joy, PA where Pit Stop Hobbies is located. This past weekend they held their BBQ Shootout and Novice Nationals which saw over 120 entries! JC driver Brian Miskolczi competed in three classes and finished 5th in Mod 4wd Buggy, 2nd in Mod 2wd Buggy and 1st place in 17.5 2wd Buggy! His rides used Green compound Double Dees V2, P2 and S2 bodies, Mono wheels and Carpet | Astro High-Clearance 7″ Rear Wings.
His son Layton also competed at this event and finished 5th in Mod 2wd Buggy and took the W in the Novice class while running the same equipment package!
Now let’s get some updates from our international team starting with JC driver Jarod Ment. He recently attended Round 2 of the New South Wales Drivers series held at Sydney RC, Australia and finished 2nd place in both Mod 2wd and 4wd Buggy! His cars used Aero S-Type 7″ Rear Wings, F2 bodies, B6.3 Front Wings, Mono wheels and Black Fin Titanium Turnbuckle Sets.
His JC mate Lachlan Donnelly also competed at this event and doubled up with two TQs and wins in both mod buggy classes! He used our Aero S-Type 6.5″ and 7″ Rear Wings, F2 bodies in the lightweight option, B6.3 Fin Titanium Front Axles and Black Fin Titanium Turnbuckle Sets.
JConcepts driver Ben Panic also competed at this recent round and placed 5th in Mod 4wd Buggy and 4th in Mod 2wd Buggy! He also used Aero S-Type 6.5″ and 7″ Rear Wings, F2 lids, Mono wheels, Double Dees V2 front tires, B6.3 Fin Titanium Front Axles and Black Fin Titanium Turnbuckle Sets.
Heading back to North America let’s check in with our Canadian team that competed at some recent events. Starting with team driver Daemon Holon he recently raced at Otterville Raceway RC in Tillsonburg, ON, Canada for their Otterville Nitro Blast event which brought in over 200 entries!
He would compete in three classes and make the podium in two of them!
- 1/8 Nitro Truggy = TQ and 2nd place while using Blue compound Triple Dees and a F2 truck body
- 1/8 Nitro Buggy = 3rd place while using Blue compound Stalkers and a S2 shell
- 1/8 Electric Buggy = 7th place while using Blue compound Stalkers
Joining him on the truggy podium in 1st was is teammate Olivier Raposo!
JConcepts driver Damian Lamy also competed at this event in both the 1/8 Electric and Nitro Buggy classes. He swept all rounds of qualifying took both class win! For the mains he used Blue compound Reflex tires and S15 bodies, and joining him on the nitro buggy podium in 3rd place was his JConcepts teammate Olivier Raposo!
Our final report comes to us this week courtesy of team driver Peter Tozser. He recently competed at RC Gears in Calgary, AB, Canada for their 2022 Nitro Stampede race. He would take the win in the 1/8 Electric Buggy class while his daughter Brittany won in 1/8 Electric Truggy! Both drivers used Green compound Reflexes before switching to the Blue compound for the mains.
